Chapter 32 - A wet stain

As the day's slowly passed, one after another, and soon it had been eleven days since the scandal. After waiting for eleven days, things were calming down.

High-level officials had stepped out and condemned the actions of the factory owners and had made promises to make sure this kind of thing would never happen again. Although they were angry about it, there was nothing the people in the rural communities being affected could do.

Of course, they knew of the problems, everyone in there community's knew about what was happening, it was just that nobody would bother to listen to them.

On Tuesday morning, Vancouver time, the calm that had just been restored was once again disrupted. This time it was more furious than in the past.

Silently, in the early hours of the morning, a series of papers was published and spread throughout journalist circles. While the journalists and news outlets around the world were still in shock over the news that they just received.

The group of prominent news outlets that had spoken with Julian almost two weeks ago begun to release the infuriating news to the public. It was not new news that most clothes factories were inhuman places on earth. It was also well known that human trafficking was at an all-time high as no period in human history had as many slaves as now, but the perpetrators behind these events and the crimes that they committed was not common knowledge.

Neither was the extent of how many people were being trafficked or how many people were involved.

On this morning though, as Julian relaxed in his hotel, the world saw a glimpse of the darkness hidden in human hearts. Even the trained, professional news anchors found their voices shaking as they reported on the atrocities.

For two entire hours, people were captivated as they stared at their TV's and laptops while they watched the news unfolding before them.

During these two hours, hundreds of names were listed along with the heinous crimes that they committed. Among the long list of names, several prominent people appeared.

It was like a veil had been pierced. Before, even though most people had a vague impression of what was happening, there either did not care or they did not have enough information so it did not bother them.

Now it was different. You could not hide from the darkness, as it was right in front of you, shining in all its glory. Capturing the worlds attention.

The pictures, videos, and narrations that were both taken openly, and discreetly using hidden cameras, created a story of pain and suffering.

The actors who played the victims were tens of thousands of women and children.

The villains were the human traffickers, the people buying the "merchandise," and the officials who sat back and collected bribes without saying a word.

Watching as the little boys, little girls, and women were sold into a life of torture. Unfortunately, this story did not have a happy ending.

Even as the news was being announced, these crimes were still being committed. Standing in front of his TV in his mansion at XX, the minister for finance for country A paled.

As sweat glistened on his fat forehead, he used his shaking hand to pull his phone out of his pocket before calling one of his contacts.

Clearing his throat, he tried to stay as composed as possible.

Out of all the people listed on the TV before, he was undoubtedly the most important in regards to both his political position and his involvement in the atrocities. Lifting his phone to his ear, he greeted the person on the other side of the line before asking.

"I take it you know about my situation, correct?"

Upon receiving a mocking laugh in response he paled further but still continued to ask, "can you get me out then? I can not stay here for long. Even if I hold power in the government I doubt that it will be able to help me for long."

By the time that he finished his question, he was almost pleading. He knew that if he did not run now, he would never have a chance to.

Just as the man on the other side started talking, several sounds permeated the room from the outside.

Starting from far away, they quickly approached. The distinctive whirring of helicopter blades and the screeching of police sirens seemed to come from everywhere.

His face now whiter than a sheet of paper, the man dropped his phone to the floor and lost control of his bowels. A wet patch quickly appeared on his crotch.

Staggering, the man that had sent thousands of innocent people to eternal damnation collapsed on the floor with his eyes rolled back.

Till the very end, he did not believe it was happening.

Even when he was being dragged off by the police officers, he couldn't comprehend what was going on. The possibility of being punished for his crimes never even occurred to him.

The man who had lived a privileged life since birth truly never thought that he would be arrested for harming the impoverished people whom he despised.

Similar incidents were occurring all over southeast Asia. From India to Indonesia, officials and businessmen were being arrested.

With the police acting as fast as they did, it was obvious that there was someone behind the scenes was pressuring them the act.

While all of the was happening, the person behind these drastic events was sitting at a coffee shop next to the park.

Seemingly without a care in the world, he sipped his espresso as he waited for his guest.
