Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: The Best Outing

In nighttime, Yun Che and Retsu would spend their time together with Xiao Lingxi at their favorite spot or the tree which houses the memorial of the original Yun Che. Most of them were listening to Yun Che's previous world stories. More like sharing internet subreddit funny stories.

Retsu would sometimes talk about the stories Yachiru shared with her but, she wasn't sure whether Xiao Lingxi could fathom her story on creating mountain of corpses.

As for Xiao Lingxi, her relationship with him was developing faster from friends to somewhat close to him. She wasn't kidding when she treated him just like she treated her former Little Che. Her relationship isn't as close as him and Retsu but she was indeed becoming his and Retsu's aunt.

As for Retsu, after she slept with him the other night, she admits she was kind of addicted to his warm aura and smell to the point that she became extra clingy to him. Xiao Lingxi seen this act as shameless or more to jealousy before pulling her to sleep with her instead. Yun Che could only smile in condolence as the poor girl was dragged to her room much to her dismay. Without Retsu, neither he nor her will ever get the Fully Rested perk for tomorrow and he gets to sleep by himself.

How bad could it be?

"It is that bad huh?" Yun Che saw Retsu enter his courtyard still yawning alongside his Xiao Lingxi indicating the poor girl probably didn't get the fully rested perk without him and he can't get the perk without her either. He admits that he only gets simple rest like the people who slept during the night. He can only pat Retsu's head as she needs to hold on for a while.

"Hai…" The poor girl replies with less enthusiasm as she didn't get the Fully Rested perk for last night. Her dismay goes unnoticed by the aunt as she simply smiled as if she was the one who got that perk.

After a round of refreshing and grooming, Yun Che and Retsu decided to take a stroll around the city alongside his Little Aunt after completing his daily missions.

-----------------------------------

It was never mentioned before, but there existed a category of daily missions exclusive to the system, allowing Yun Che or Yuuki to earn System Points (SP) rather than waiting for achievements or quest rewards. Although these quests were optional, completing them all within an hour proved beneficial, yielding substantial SP gains. After attaining Bankai and Hollow Mode, certain missions were updated. At times, certain missions required him to perform alongside Retsu to enhance their timing and coordination, a challenge he willingly embraced to maximize his daily SP earnings. While failure wouldn't have dire consequences, Yun Che was determined not to forgo these significant SP opportunities.

Likewise, Retsu had her own set of daily missions, yielding her personal SP gains which she could utilize for item purchases, or simply as a form of training.

There were instances when the missions were absurdly outlandish, which Yun Che would undertake if he was in the mood, given the relatively low rewards. However, there were certain missions he would opt for even if they were labeled as optional. As these missions were random, they might change based on the quests he completed or the levels he achieved.

Amidst their shared trials, Xiao Lingxi understood that Floating Cloud City's safety owed much to him. She wanted to spend time with him before his cultivation journey took him away again – a chance to know him better.

In the current moment, Yuuki orYun Che was guiding Xiao Lingxi through a sightseeing trip in Floating Cloud City. Retsu would join them later, as she was busy with her own daily tasks after initiating Jinzen in Yun Che's inner world. Retsu's Jinzen coincided with the long bath taken by Xiao Lingxi and her, which Yun Che used to complete his own daily tasks.

Before leaving the manor, Yun Che acquired two protective skills – Kido Barrier Art #21: Seven Colored Dome and Kido Barrier Art #23: Hexagonal Pyramid. Using Skill Points from his daily mission, he also got materials to complete the barriers. He and Retsu set up these barriers around the manor to shield against attacks from Sky Profound Realm cultivators.

With newfound knowledge to aid Xia Qingyue, Xiao Lingxi committed to stay in the city to cultivate. Yun Che made and purchased XP pills to boost her cultivation alongside her awakened potential, aiming to reach the Emperor Profound Realm in a year, if she could get the right materials.

As they explored Floating Cloud City, excitement and ambition filled the air, Xiao Lingxi, her eyes sparkling like twin stars, radiated an ethereal charm that captured every gaze. Her vibrant emerald dress seemed to sway in harmony with her graceful steps, enhancing the aura of elegance that enveloped her. Cascading black hair framed her delicate features, and a smile played on her lips, enchanting all who crossed her path. In one hand, she held a parasol, a delicate shield against the sun's embrace.

Walking by her side was a strikingly handsome man, Yun Che. His confident stride and chiseled features seemed to complement her beauty perfectly. Their connection was palpable, an unspoken bond that resonated with those who observed. People couldn't help but steal glances at the couple, captivated by the harmony they exuded.

Both of them had never taken a leisurely stroll through the city before, even in their younger days. Now, as Xiao Lingxi's newfound profound beauty graced the streets, it was an entirely new experience for them. She regaled Yuuki with tales of the original Yun Che, recounting how he used to venture into the city alone and often ended up worse for wear. The current version of him couldn't help but feel a sense of pity for his past self's adventurous spirit.

From a distance, another striking beauty observed the pair. She had visited the manor with the intention of catching the eye of the handsome man, hoping to elevate herself to the position of his wife. However, her plans were dashed as she watched another beauty humiliate her. Now, with Xiao Lingxi gracing the streets with her own allure, the people's attention shifted away from her. The title of the city's number one beauty seemed to slip from her grasp, as Xiao Lingxi's presence overshadowed her radiance.

Where once her passage was greeted with praise and admiration, the attention now eluded her, stolen by Xiao Lingxi's undeniable charm. While she remained beautiful, the shine of her allure had dulled in comparison.

Frustration clenched at her fists, for this was the second time her throne of beauty had been taken from her. First, it was Xia Qingyue, and now, Xiao Lingxi had dealt her another blow. Not only had they snatched away her childhood love, but they also claimed her position as the city's ultimate beauty. The sense of loss weighed heavily on her.

Whispering Xiao Lingxi's name under her breath, the deposed beauty made a decision. With her attendants and guards in tow, she began to follow the pair from a discreet distance. Her high status warranted the entourage, a subtle yet pronounced reminder of her own standing in the city.

"Yuuki, I never realized that simply walking around like this could be so enjoyable," Xiao Lingxi exclaimed, twirling as she navigated the bustling streets with sheer delight. Her happiness was infectious, bringing smiles to those who crossed her path. Yun Che couldn't help but find her joy heartwarming – witnessing her in such high spirits was truly sweet.

"Have you never explored the city before?" he inquired, intrigued by the notion that she, a native of the city, had never taken the opportunity to do so.

Her response carried a tinge of sadness, "I never did. I used to fear venturing out alone. And now, with you and Retsu here… Besides, when you leave again for your cultivation, I might never have this chance."

Yun Che fell silent, her words resonating deeply. It was true – her point hit home. If this might be their last outing for a while, he resolved to make it unforgettable. "Then let's make the most of it," he affirmed with determination.

Their journey led them through a plethora of shops, though most of it amounted to window shopping. They paused by street vendors offering delectable treats. To Xiao Lingxi's astonishment, her beauty garnered her free samples, but she graciously declined, insisting on paying. Such attention was unfamiliar to her.

Amidst their explorations, a group of individuals approached them, evoking annoyance on Yun Che's face. They weren't thugs or troublemakers – just people adorned in makeshift Shinigami costumes, imitating his hairstyle. Xiao Lingxi observed their antics before breaking into a giggle, recognizing them as the Xiao Che fan group she had mentioned to Yun Che before. She remembered how he had criticized them.

One of the cosplayers stepped forward and addressed Yun Che, "Brother, might we interest you in something?" The young man appraised Yun Che from head to toe. "You bear a striking resemblance to Emperor Xiao Che."

"I am him," Yun Che responded with a mixture of irritation and bemusement, sipping prune juice through an improvised straw made from a plant. Xiao Lingxi observed his unconventional drinking method, intrigued by his resourcefulness.

"We're all him," the cosplayer continued before offering Yun Che a flyer. "We'd like to extend an invitation for you to join our clan."

"What clan?" Yun Che queried, genuinely perplexed.

"The 'Che' clan," the cosplayer clarified, causing Yun Che to almost spit out his prune juice. "Excuse me, what?"

"The Che Clan – a group that pays homage to the emperor…" The cosplayer attempted to explain, but Yun Che's patience had worn thin.

"Hell no! Find someone else to join your damn cosplay group," he retorted, walking away in exasperation. He found the idea of establishing a clan based solely on cosplay quite ridiculous. While he didn't mind the activity itself, turning it into a cult-like affair was a step too far.

Xiao Lingxi followed him, her concern palpable. "Little Che, is something bothering you?"

He managed to calm himself upon seeing her worried expression, then vented his frustration, "A bunch of nerds wanted me to join their cosplay group to honor Emperor Xiao Che, or well, me. It's starting to get on my nerves."

"I understand…" Xiao Lingxi's grasp of certain terms like "nerds" and "cosplay" was hazy, but she listened as Yun Che shared his frustrations about the true essence of cosplay culture.

As they ambled through the streets, an unusual scent caught Yun Che's attention, drawing him irresistibly in its direction. "Why are there so many people coming and going from that place?" he mused aloud.

Tucked away in a secluded corner of the city was the 'Heavenly Fragrant House', an establishment shrouded in intrigue. Soft lantern lights illuminated its façade, and opulent decorations beckoned visitors inside. Within its plush chambers, the intoxicating blend of floral perfumes and sultry music promised unforgettable nights of indulgence.

Xiao Lingxi's face clouded with unease. "Little Che, it's better if we avoid that place. The Heavenly Fragrant House isn't just any establishment — it's a renowned erotic bar. People travel from afar, lured by its famed pleasures."

Yun Che raised an eyebrow, "Erotic Bar, you say?" As they passed, he noticed several provocatively dressed women beckoning to men, many of whom seemed utterly captivated, even abandoning their companions to follow. There was something peculiar about it all, almost as if they were under a spell.

Before they could move on, a young woman, her outfit leaving little to the imagination and wearing a heady, strange perfume, sidled up to Yun Che. "Big brother," she cooed, "Care for some relaxation? Maybe some fun with a little sister like me?"

[Ding... Contaminated pheromone alert detected. Effects nullified.]

Yun Che recoiled slightly. The scent emanating from the woman was intense and off-putting. The system's warning made him even more wary. "I'm not interested," he began, but was interrupted by another system notification.

[Ding... 'Reject a girl' mission completed.]

Before he could react, the woman leaned in closer, inhaling deeply. "Mmm, big brother, you smell so... enticing," she murmured with a sly grin, clearly ignoring Xiao Lingxi's growing discomfort.

Just as she reached out to touch Yun Che, her hand was swiftly slapped away. Xiao Lingxi's eyes flashed with anger and maybe a hint of jealousy. "He's not alone," she snapped. "So, I suggest you move along."

The young woman clicked her tongue in disappointment. She'd set her sights on this particularly appealing man, with his unique aroma, and losing him to another woman stung. But she watched with concealed resentment as Xiao Lingxi protectively led Yun Che away from the Heavenly Fragrant House.

As they wandered through the city, Xiao Lingxi remained silent, her grip firm on Yun Che's arm. It wasn't until they reached the bustling square that Yun Che gently tapped her shoulder, urging her to stop. "Megu-chan, I think we're far enough now."

"No..." She retorted, a hint of anger in her voice. "I'm not letting you go off with those harlots."

Yun Che chuckled, bemused by her protectiveness. "Relax, I'm not interested in them. Besides, they have this weird, almost nauseating smell about them."

His explanation seemed to mollify Xiao Lingxi, and she released her hold on him, sinking onto a bench in the square. Yun Che joined her, his presence a comforting balm. "You seem really worked up, Megu. I've never seen you quite so... jealous."

With a pout, she admitted, "I don't know. It's just that when you're with Retsu, I don't feel like this. But when that harlot tried to touch you, I got so annoyed, as if I needed to protect you from her. Especially from someone like her."

Yun Che grinned, touched by her candidness. "Well, I appreciate it. Thanks for standing up for me."

"Of course I would. You're my Yuuki," she muttered, her cheeks flushed.

His heart warmed at her words, wondering if it was a confession in disguise. He reached over and patted her head affectionately. "It's nice to know you care so much."

Their conversation took a turn, and Yun Che decided to enlighten her about Retsu's protective side. "You know, if it were Retsu instead of you, she might have broken that woman's arm or worse."

Xiao Lingxi gasped in astonishment. "Really? But she seems so gentle..."

Yun Che chuckled. "She's sweet and kind, but she can be quite the yandere when it comes to enemies. Behind her gentle exterior lies a fierce protector."

Curious, Xiao Lingxi asked, "Yandere? Is that a term from your world?"

Yun Che grinned mischievously. "Let's just say it's best if you don't dive too deep into that definition."

--------------------

"It's nice to enjoy a meal outside once in a while," Yun Che remarked as he settled into a seat, having selected a highly recommended restaurant called "Jade Blossom Tavern." The establishment exuded tranquility, adorned with bamboo accents, serene paintings, and delicate lanterns. The interior featured elegant silk drapes and handcrafted murals that depicted tales of nature, creating a serene ambiance.

"Absolutely," Xiao Lingxi agreed with a smile. She too appreciated the change of setting. Yun Che's question shifted their conversation to the morning's events. "What happened earlier? I saw the third elder and that cripple Chengzhi together."

Xiao Lingxi leaned in, her expression growing more serious. "Father probably dispatched him with the elder to Reflection Gorge."

"Reflection Gorge?" Yun Che inquired, a sense of familiarity tugging at his memory. He knew he had come across the term somewhere before.

"It's where clan members are banished as punishment," Xiao Lingxi explained with a sigh. "Xiao Chengzhi will likely spend the rest of his life there." She recalled how he had harassed her during her time with Xia Qingyue, and now the man had been exiled to that desolate place. Surprisingly, she found herself feeling a hint of pity for him.

"I see..." A flash of recollection swept through Yun Che's mind, drawn from the depths of the system's archive. The realization struck him—Reflection Gorge, the very place he had just heard about, was the site of Xiao Lingxi's banishment, along with her father. It was a stark reminder of the tragic turn their lives had taken in the original story. He considered for a moment, acknowledging that someone as feeble as Xiao Chengzhi likely wouldn't have survived the unforgiving wilderness of that gorge.

Xiao Lingxi's features brightened as another thought struck her. "Is Retsu still training in the mountains?" she inquired, shifting the focus of their conversation to their friend.

"Retsu should be back in around 10 minutes," Yun Che mentioned, consulting his HUD for the timing. He knew her routine well and figured she might be seeking Yachiru's help to relearn some kido techniques.

While they were getting comfortable in the restaurant, a waiter approached with a bottle of wine. Clearly, the restaurant wanted to impress them, probably because of their sizable order. The manager seemed hesitant at first, but Yun Che's offer of 50 cyan coins convinced them otherwise. It was a funny reminder of how money could make things happen, even in upscale dining. Yun Che examined the bottle named "Dragon's Silk Vintage" with curiosity. "Wine? I've never really tried it before. Sure," he agreed, pouring a glass and offering it to Xiao Lingxi.

She hesitated, shaking her head. "Oh, no, I can't drink."

Yun Che shrugged, raising his glass to his lips. "More for me then. Let's see how this tastes." He took a sip, intrigued by the novelty of trying something new. However, to his surprise, the taste was quite familiar—like grape juice, the main ingredient of the wine.

As he contemplated the taste, a notification from the system appeared before him, catching his attention.

------------------------------

[Ding… Poison has been nullified.]

-----------------------------

"What?" Yun Che was once again taken aback. The system even blocked access to alcohol?-----------------------------

[No alcohol for you.]

------------------------------

"Why?" Yun Che demanded.

----------------------

[The System has blocked access to alcohol and utilized your Sky Poison Pearl to nullify its effects. Becoming an alcoholic is now a distant dream for you.]

-----------------------

"But I never…"

[No]

"But.."

[No]

"…"

[No]

"I didn't even say anything…" Yun Che countered.

[You were about to. It's still a 'No']

------------------------

"*Sigh..." Yun Che let out a defeated sigh, coming to terms with the fact that he may never experience the taste of alcohol in this world either.

"Little Che?" Xiao Lingxi gently squeezed his hand, sensing his mood suddenly shift.

"I'm denied in this world as well," Yun Che said, his voice tinged with a hint of melancholy. Before his aunt could offer a response, another disturbance arrived, as if on cue. Yun Che couldn't help but feel that trouble had a way of finding him.

A man dressed in sleek dark robes entered the scene, his sharp eyes and silver-streaked hair giving him an air of authority. His calculated smile roamed over Xiao Lingxi, and he couldn't resist making a bold remark. "Oh, a beauty... Why don't you ditch this weakling and be with a real man?"

"Really? In front of my tasteless wine?" Yun Che retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he mockingly mimicked his own words.

Xiao Lingxi rose from her seat, offering a polite bow. "I'm sorry. I'm already having lunch with... my fiancé," she stated, choosing the diplomatic approach to defuse the situation.

The man's gaze turned towards Yun Che, skepticism evident on his face. He couldn't fathom that this elegant beauty could possibly be engaged to someone like Yun Che. "Fiancé? You?" he scoffed.

"Yeah... Do we have a problem?" Yun Che's challenge hung in the air.

Within the tavern, a tense atmosphere settled as onlookers sensed that things might take a dangerous turn. The man, revealing a concealed weapon, spoke with a malicious undertone. "You know, brat, I really hate pretty boys like you. I've taken a liking to this woman. Why don't you do us all a favor..."

Flick. The man's sentence was cut short as Yun Che flicked his forehead, sending him hurtling out of the tavern and crashing into the opposite wall, leaving a human-shaped hole.

Gasps echoed through the tavern, including Xiao Lingxi's shocked exclamation. The simplicity of that flick belied its impact; a single motion had put an end to the thug's bravado. But the astonished silence only lasted a moment. Suddenly, a voice emerged from behind the human-shaped wall.

"You brat!!!" It was the same man, now sporting a sizable bump on his forehead, charging back towards Yun Che with a weapon raised. Yet, he hadn't even covered half the distance to the restaurant when a shadow blurred in front of him. Before he could react, the figure spoke, "You're in the way..."

*Flick

With another flick, he was sent airborne, imprinting a human-shaped hole before the astonished onlookers. Suddenly, a graceful beauty entered the scene, effortlessly flicking the man aside. Her ebony hair, meticulously braided and adorned with flowers, added to her captivating charm, drawing all eyes upon her. Amidst the martial challenges, her carefully braided black hair, embellished with blossoms, symbolized her strength, setting her apart as a remarkable figure.

Amidst the awed onlookers, she elegantly approached the couple's table, offering a light bow towards the young man. Recognizing her, a smile lit up Yun Che's face. "Retsu, you're here."

"Hai~~~ I finished my daily training and now I'm starving," the woman named Retsu chimed in, her smile casting a spell on everyone around her.

"But didn't you train up in the mountains? How..." Xiao Lingxi's eyes widened in amazement. She knew it took hours for ordinary people to travel to those mountains, yet Retsu had arrived as if in an instant.

"I sprinted back," Retsu offered with a casual shrug, concocting an explanation on the spot. She conveniently left out the details of her sudden appearance via Yun Che's inner world.

"Who was that just now?" Retsu inquired as she took a seat next to Yun Che, her curiosity piqued.

"Some lowlife who thought he could snatch our Megu-chan away. So, I flicked him," Yun Che recounted with an uninterested tone, as if swatting away an annoyance.

"Ara... Shall I take care of his 'little brothers'?" Retsu pondered aloud, causing Xiao Lingxi to gasp in shock. It seemed Yun Che hadn't been exaggerating about Retsu's yandere tendencies.

"No need for that. Two flicks were more than sufficient," Yun Che grinned, his eyes drifting to the two distinct human-shaped holes punched into the opposite wall.

"I see... Is that a bottle of wine?" Retsu's curiosity was now piqued by the wine bottle on the table. Yun Che poured a glass and handed it to her, curious about its effects on her. "Give it a try."

Retsu took the glass, sniffed its contents, and then downed it in one go. "Isn't this just grape juice? Wait..." She paused abruptly, as if struck by a realization, and then flashed Yun Che a sheepish grin. "Ara~ The poison has been neutralized."

Yun Che patted her head, satisfied to have his question answered. "It seems we're both denied the pleasures of this world."

As Xiao Lingxi considered trying the alcohol, Yun Che quickly interjected, "Please don't, Megu. We can't get drunk, ever." He wanted to shield her from the sobering effects that might impact her since she wasn't protected by the system.

"That's quite a bold claim, Xiao Che." A voice interrupted, drawing their attention to a new presence. A beautiful woman approached them, accompanied by two attendants and escorted by two guards.

"And you are... who again?" Yun Che's eyes flickered with curiosity and a hint of skepticism as he sized her up.

"Yuwen Lin, have you forgotten about me already?" The beauty spoke up, revealing herself to be Yuwen Lin, the daughter of Mayor Yuwen Tuo.

"I can't say I remember you, honestly. Besides, I have two fiancées now," Yun Che responded, his tone nonchalant. It seemed that Yuwen Lin hadn't given up despite Retsu's clear dismissal just two days prior.

"You..." Yuwen Lin bristled at his words, feeling both slighted and determined. "Have these two bewitched you? Is that why you've forgotten about me?"

"It's quite amusing to hear that from you, Yuwen Lin," Xiao Lingxi chimed in with a raised eyebrow. Her response seemed to take Yuwen Lin aback. Normally, the mayor's daughter would have been affronted, but this time, her status appeared to hold no sway, likely due to Xiao Lingxi's newfound self-assuredness following her awakening.

"Is this a fight over a man?" The murmurs from the crowd began to rise, fueled by envy as they witnessed three stunning women vying for Yun Che's attention.

"How fortunate, being surrounded by such beauties."

"Isn't that Xiao Che? The one who smashed the gates of the Xiao Clan?"

"The Emperor?" Whispers and hushed conversations spread like wildfire as people recognized him, their attention now firmly fixed on the unfolding scene. "Sigh… Well, that plan to keep a low profile went out the window," Yun Che thought as he wiped his brow, watching a curious crowd gathering around him.

Amidst the growing audience, Yuwen Lin saw an opportunity to assert her dominance over her rivals and prove herself to Yun Che. With a mischievous grin, she pointed dramatically at Retsu and announced, "You there! How about a little challenge? A drinking contest!"

Yun Che, ever the realist, couldn't help but chuckle under his breath. He had just discovered the system's incredible anti-alcohol function, rendering this challenge quite futile. "Hold on a moment, Miss Yuwen. I'm not sure this is a contest you can win. It's a bit... pointless, to be honest."

Unperturbed, Yuwen Lin leaned in, placing her bet on the line. "If I win, I demand the honor of being Xiao Che's fiancée as well."

One of her attendants couldn't hold back a cynical comment, "You've heard about her alcohol tolerance, right? It's a league of its own. You can't possibly match up."

Xiao Lingxi, protective and wary of anyone attempting to encroach on her Little Che, promptly stepped in. "Sorry, but I can't allow that."

"He's the one to decide, Xiao Lingxi," Yuwen Lin retorted with a sly smile, fully aware of her position in Yun Che's life.

Amidst this exchange, Retsu's voice cut in, dripping with an oddly sweet but unmistakably threatening tone. "Ara-ara, what audacious claims. Should I put an end to this right here, I wonder?"

Despite the intimidating vibes Retsu was emitting, Yuwen Lin held her ground. "I might not beat you in strength, but I can beat you in this at least." Her bravado faltered somewhat, and her attendants and guards hesitated. The air was dense with the weight of a killer's aura.

Just as the situation was about to escalate further, Yun Che intervened, calmly patting Retsu on the head. The unexpected gesture seemed to soothe the fiery tension. To everyone's surprise, he simply shrugged and muttered, "Well, let her try. Let's see if she can beat you at this."

Retsu's response was a bemused, "Sure thing." Her newfound awareness of the system's peculiar ability made her more than willing to play along. In fact, she contemplated placing some bets, already confident in the outcome.

Yuwen Lin, her confidence unwavering, summoned the manager and requested the most potent concoction available—the Fragrant Wine. With its rosy hue and floral aroma, it seemed innocent enough, even tempting.

"The Fragrant Wine, the strongest wine in the city," the manager announced, pouring the liquid into a delicate glass. Yuwen Lin's grin grew as she downed the glass, her resolve unshaken as she swallowed the fiery liquid.

Cheers erupted from her attendants, guards, and a section of the watching crowd, celebrating her victory in advance. Her eyes locked onto Retsu, smug and assured. Retsu, in turn, looked utterly unfazed, her expression almost bored. With a disinterested glance at her glass, she brought it to her lips and took a sip.

And so, the duel began. Yuwen Lin had finished her glass with gusto, displaying her well-practiced prowess in one go. Triumphantly, she regarded Retsu, ready to gloat. But Retsu's response was anything but conventional. She examined her glass, inhaled its aroma, and then calmly took a measured sip.

The contrast between Yuwen Lin's exuberance and Retsu's composed demeanor was palpable. The audience, once firmly in Yuwen Lin's corner, shifted uneasily, sensing that this might not go as expected.

-------------------

[Ding… Poison has been nullified.]

-------------------------

Only Retsu and Yun Che could see a discreet notification from the system. A quick exchange of glances, a sly smile – a silent understanding passed between them, hidden from the rest.

Retsu's response was a weary sigh, a sigh that betrayed the absence of the usual alcoholic edge in the wine she was consuming. "Tastes like stale flower juice," she muttered, disappointed at the lack of the intoxicating kick.

Unfazed by this revelation, Yuwen Lin pressed on, determined to outmatch Retsu in this peculiar contest. Her cheeks were starting to flush, a testament to her increasing inebriation. Meanwhile, Retsu imbibed with a tranquility that made it seem like she was sipping nothing more than plain water. Little did they know that the System was secretly preventing the alcohol's effects from taking hold, leaving them both immune of being drunk.

As they continued to face off, the contrast between them became more pronounced. Yuwen Lin downed shot after shot, pushing herself to the limit. The realization that her chances were dwindling, along with the impending hangover, gnawed at her determination.

Watching from the sidelines, Yun Che and Xiao Lingxi exchanged amused glances, acknowledging the absurdity of the situation. Xiao Lingxi remained blissfully unaware of the System's intervention, while Retsu and Yun Che shared a secret they couldn't share.

Yuwen Lin's drinking frenzy escalated, with each shot bringing her closer to the brink. She stubbornly refused to give in, downing a colossal cup with a sense of defiance. Retsu, on the other hand, yawned with an air of indifference, maintaining an aura that suggested she was merely sipping water. The crowd watched in stunned silence, witnessing Retsu's undeniable victory as her opponent's bravado faded into tipsy incoherence.

"I won't losseeeehhh!" Yuwen Lin's voice, now slurred and ungraceful, boomed as she swayed. In an uncharacteristic manner, she pointed an unsteady finger at Retsu, her accusations growing wild and unfounded. The elegant facade was crumbling, giving way to a mess of frustration and embarrassment.

Retsu's smile remained unwavering, her calm demeanor in stark contrast to Yuwen Lin's unraveling state. With a casual shrug, she silently admitted to her "cheating" – the subtle aid of the System that had nullified the alcohol's effects.

A pair of attendants struggled to restrain the now-sloppy Yuwen Lin, her fingers weakly pointing and words slurring as she made futile attempts at an argument. "I woooooooon't... if youuuu didn't exisssst... Xiao Che... would belong toooo meeee," she managed before collapsing into an alcohol-induced slumber.

Retsu sighed, a mixture of sympathy and frustration crossing her face as she watched Yuwen Lin being carried away by her attendants. The girl had never stood a chance, unaware of the hidden advantage working against her.

With an almost nonchalant air, Retsu turned her attention back to the crowd, her victory evident to all. Xiao Lingxi, who had been watching with a mix of fascination and gratitude, sent a wordless thank you Retsu's way – a silent acknowledgment of the unique payback the situation had provided.

Meanwhile, the promise of a feast unfolded on the table before them, a feast that seemed fit for a celebration. But for Yun Che, Retsu, and Xiao Lingxi, it was a simple dinner. Xiao Lingxi glanced at Yun Che, her lips curling into an amused smile as she noticed him pouring cup after cup of the wine, completely unfazed by the magnitude of the wine. His explanation, "It's just grape juice," only deepened the mystery that shrouded them.

The crowd, once again, found themselves agape at the sight of the trio as they devoured the abundance of food without hesitation. Plates stacked high, the restaurant's staff struggled to keep up with the unanticipated appetite. The manager, bewildered yet impressed, recalled the three gold profound coins that Yun Che put up front. The unlikely victors had not only exceeded his expectations but also confounded them. As for Retsu, who had won the drinking bout, even she kept eating like a bottomless pit.

Xiao Lingxi, now surpassed by her companions in the eating contest, could only watch in awe. And then there was Yun Che, who managed to outdo them all. First the alcohol-defying drinks, and now the voracious eating – it was as if they had boundless storage for both food and drink.

Retsu leaned back with a satisfied sigh, having polished off the last remnants of her meal. In contrast, Xiao Lingxi had gracefully conceded, stopping after just four servings. But it was Yun Che and Retsu who stole the spotlight, devouring eight portions each as if they were appetizers.

Amidst the aftermath of the gastronomic spectacle, the mood took a sharp turn. The burly man, once deflated by Yun Che's and Retsu's flicks, had returned with an unyielding determination. His brows furrowed, forming visible knots on his forehead, an ominous indicator of his boiling temper.

Yun Che's exasperated sigh said it all. The earlier flicks – apparently a miscalculation on his part – hadn't deterred the relentless man. "I had hoped two flicks would be sufficient, but it seems I was mistaken," he muttered, the weight of his words carrying a mix of regret and annoyance.

As the confrontation escalated, the whispers of the onlookers were laden with disbelief, their voices a hushed symphony of anticipation and shock. The audacity to challenge the Xiao Che himself.

"Mouuu… Maybe I should've flicked him harder," Retsu grumbled, her determination to finish the job clear in her voice, but Yun Che intervened, gently gripping her hand and offering a reassuring pat on her head.

"Don't worry, Retsu. I'll handle this," he said softly, his tone carrying a calm certainty. Slowly rising to his feet, Yun Che turned his attention to Xiao Lingxi, a glint of purpose in his eyes. "Little Aunt, do you mind lending me that parasol?" His request left Xiao Lingxi momentarily befuddled, but she complied, passing her parasol to him with a mix of curiosity and trust.

"Now, you've really done it, brat. If you won't release those women, maybe a little stabbing will teach you a lesson," the leader sneered, still nursing the noticeable bumps from the previous tussle. His cronies loomed behind him, poised to draw weapons, arrogance radiating from their stance.

"Then perhaps a few parting words are in order. This has been on my bucket list since I watched that movie years ago," Yun Che remarked as he slowly rose, fixing his gaze on the restaurant's exit. The leader smirked, confident that the apparent cowardice he'd witnessed earlier had bested this young challenger. The prospect of asserting dominance over these attractive women fueled his bravado.

"Manners," a metallic click reverberated as the sound of the lock engaging resonated through the room. Yun Che remained positioned at the door, his fingers dancing with the locks, a calculated determination behind his actions.

"Maketh," another lock secured, the tension in the room growing palpable with each resounding click.

"Man," the central lock was engaged, sealing their fates within the confines of the restaurant.

"You know what that means?" Yun Che's voice dripped with a mix of challenge and anticipation, the air crackling with tense energy. "Then let me teach you a lesson." His strategy unfolded swiftly. The curved end of the parasol caught the glint of light as it seized a nearby glass, effortlessly flinging it with precision. The glass found its target, shattering against the leader's head with a satisfying crash. As if choreographed, the leader crumpled, his body succumbing to unconsciousness for the third time that night, a testament to Yun Che's unconventional skill.

The remaining five men exchanged wary glances, their bravado momentarily shaken. Yun Che's self-assured smirk remained, the parasol slung casually over his shoulder, the tension of the room now replaced with a suspenseful stillness. "So, are we sitting around here all day, or are going to fight?" he taunted, his challenge hanging in the air like a gauntlet daring them to respond.

In the blink of an eye, one of the men lunged forward, his fist poised to strike. Yet, before he could land his blow, Yun Che expertly deflected the attack using his parasol, causing the punch to inadvertently slam into his own companion. The force of impact sent the companion sprawling, their weight scattering the others around them like leaves in a sudden gust.

Xiao Lingxi stood in stunned amazement, never suspecting that the unassuming Xiao Che possessed such prowess in both profound strength and street fighting. He had the power to end this confrontation swiftly, displaying his profound abilities, but he chose not to. The onlookers shared her astonishment, their faces mirroring the surprise that had taken root in their hearts.

As if choreographing a mesmerizing dance of combat, Yun Che swiftly evaded each assault that came his way. A swift kick found its mark in one man's stomach, folding him in agony. Another attacker's advance was thwarted as Yun Che expertly employed his parasol to parry and send him crashing into a nearby table, shattering it. Another assailant, skilled in hand-to-hand combat, found himself bewildered as Yun Che's parasol maneuvers effortlessly countered his every move.

Unyielding, yet another adversary reached for a knife, hoping to tip the scales in his favor. In a display of ingenuity, Yun Che used the hand of the man currently fighting him to pull him to his back as a living shield, causing the knife to impale the unwitting shield-bearer. A punch swung wildly was met with a calculated twist of the parasol, leaving the attacker reeling. Then, with a swift motion, he gave an uppercut towards the unwitting shield and slammed him to the ground. The man who had attempted to stab Yun Che before, driven by desperation, renewed his assault, only to be met with the unyielding defense of the parasol once again. Taking advantage of the opening, Yun Che deftly incapacitated him and cast him aside, his consciousness slipping away.

Though wincing from the injuries he had sustained, the remaining assailant clung to his determination. Grabbing a bottle from the counter, he lunged at Yun Che, aiming to shatter it against his face. Quick as a flash, Yun Che seized the man's leg with his parasol and flung him to the ground, leaving him unconscious.

As if defying the very odds, two more foes arose from the chaos, the table breaking and the human shield. They got up only to find themselves ensnared by the parasol's reach and unceremoniously thrown into each other. The collision left them senseless, joining their comrades in defeat. The final attacker, fueled by desperation and rage, launched his assault, only to find himself expertly twisted and then kicked mid-air, landing with a resounding thud on a nearby counter before succumbing to unconsciousness.

"You brat! I am going to kill you!"

Suddenly, the leader, roused from his stupor, staggered to his feet, eyes burning with fury. His fallen men lay testament to Yun Che's undeniable skill. Fueled by a last surge of determination, the leader lunged at Yun Che, intent on ending the clash once and for all. But Yun Che sidestepped the attack with grace and precision, his finger adorned with the glow of Spirit Force, a forceful flick meeting the leader's forehead. The impact was potent, and with a mighty crash, the leader hurtled through the doorway, creating a human-shaped dent in the opposite wall.

Silence settled over the room, broken only by the echoes of victory. The stunned onlookers gaped at Yun Che, their disbelief mingling with admiration as they watched him incapacitate six opponents without resorting to his ultimate strength. With a calm and collected demeanor, Yun Che returned to his table, taking his place beside Retsu, leaving a room full of awestruck witnesses and fallen adversaries in his wake. "Sorry about that, Retsu. Needed to let off a little steam. Some eggheads pestered me to join their fan group. You know, those cosplayers."

"Ara~" The girl sweatdropped, her expression turning into one of bemused understanding as she grasped the implication of his words.

"Your parasol, Megu." Yun Che smoothly returned the perfectly maintained parasol to his aunt, blissfully unaware of the blank stare that had settled on her face. It had indeed been an eventful day - from the quirky cosplay gatherings to the pangs of jealousy sparked by the prostitute, not to mention the spirited drinking game from Retsu. A massive food consumption by all three of them. And now, the finale was Yun Che's unexpected strengthless brawl. In an odd twist, the day had evolved into a rather delightful escapade, with even Yuuki earning a dashing look in her eyes. Not that she supported him fighting but he looks quite cool.

Yet, that uncomfortable feeling resurfaced when he noticed a few women in the crowd ogling him with unmistakable interest. Xiao Lingxi expressed her discontent with an audible click of her tongue, clearly irritated by their boldness.

"Well then, shall we take our leave? Gramps might be starting to worry," Yun Che suggested, his tone a mix of concern and playful insistence. Acting in tandem, both Retsu and Xiao Lingxi looped their arms through his, as if cementing their fun and shared experiences at the same time earning an odd look from him. Xiao Lingxi, however, clings to him to show the eyeing ladies just now who he belongs to.

As they prepared to depart, Yun Che conjured forth a handful of gold coins, a gesture to cover not only the extravagant feast they had relished but also the damage incurred during his impromptu street-side scuffle.

Chuckling, he remarked, "At least twenty gold coins for our memorable meals and the unintended fights. It appears today marked my debut in this world's street-fighting scene and a cheating drinking game. Quite the performance, wouldn't you say?"

Both Xiao Lingxi and Retsu just laughed at his remark. With that, the trio made their way toward the exit, leaving behind a room abuzz with whispers and awestruck gazes. The echoes of their shared laughter lingered, mingling with the memory of a street fight that had, in an unexpected turn, turned into an artful display of physical prowess, massive food consumption and tolerance of drinking, leaving a lasting impression on both the onlookers and the establishment itself

As their last day in the city arrived, Retsu summoned her colossal green creature, Minazuki, leaving Xiao Lingxi and others initially astounded. She did this before in front of Xiao Lingxi. After a round of shock, they embarked on a whirlwind of rides around the mountain area, even visiting the peak Yun Che had playfully chopped off, causing him to blush in embarrassment. Now, the monstrous Minazuki served as their unconventional mode of transport.

"Yuuki, you could have stayed a bit longer," Xiao Lingxi whispered, her embrace conveying a reluctance to let him go. Their five-day stay had swiftly reached its conclusion, leaving only Xiao Lie, Xia Hongyi, and the affectionate Xiao Lingxi to bid him farewell.

"I wish I could, Little Aunt, but we have places to be," Yun Che replied softly, matching her tight hug.

"Please come back soon. I'll miss you," Xiao Lingxi's voice quivered with a hint of tears.

Yun Che fetched an item from his inventory and presented it to her, a gleaming silver pocket watch. Its surface reflected a brilliant shine, the golden hands elegantly marking the passage of time against the metallic backdrop. The harmonious interplay of silver and gold created a captivating visual contrast that enchanted the eye.

"It's a pocket watch imbued with the same power as the necklace. Since you often checked the time in my courtyard, I made this for you to carry with you. And, it holds a special surprise," Yun Che explained, his smile radiating warmth and sincerity. With a gentle touch, he opened the watch's cover to reveal a delicate drawing inside—a depiction of him, her father, Retsu, and herself. As she gazed upon the image, tears welled up in her eyes, the picture evoking a flood of emotions within her

"Idiot Yuuki, thank you," Xiao Lingxi replied, her gratitude evident as she held the pocket watch in her hands.

Yun Che continued, revealing his thoughtful preparations, "I left something in your room. Pills that can aid your cultivation. Consume them once a month, and by the end of the fourth month next year, your cultivation should reach the Emperor Profound Realm. And I've also left something to help you start a business." The aunt nodded before Retsu hugged her tightly.

Their parting moment with Retsu was equally emotional. Hugging tightly, they exchanged well wishes and promises of reunion. Retsu had become a cherished friend, someone Xiao Lingxi deeply wished to protect and vice versa.

With fond farewells to Xia Hongyi and Xiao Lie, Yun Che and Retsu prepared to depart. A blend of nostalgia and anticipation filled the air as they ascended upon Minazuki's back, ready to soar into the skies.

"Safe travels, Yun Che. Send my regards to Yuanba and Qingyue if you meet them. I'll miss your lattes and pancakes," Xia Hongyi voiced his sentiments.

Xiao Lingxi's grin widened. "Don't worry, I have the recipes now. I can make those pancakes and lattes for you."

"Che'er, take care of Retsu, and remember not to be gone for too long," Xiao Lie's words carried his fatherly concern.

"I will!" Yun Che's resounding shout echoed as they bid their final goodbyes, their hearts heavy with a mixture of emotions. With one last glance and wave, Yun Che and Retsu set off on Minazuki's back, disappearing into the mountainous terrain while leaving behind memories and hopes for their eventual return.

As their silhouettes grew smaller in the distance, Xiao Lingxi cast a contemplative glance at her father, her thoughts swirling within her. "Father, I..." Her words trailed off, hesitant yet seeking to express her feelings.

"I understand," Xiao Lie responded, his smile warm and understanding.

The abrupt halt of Xiao Lingxi caught his attention. He seemed to know what was on her mind, as if he could read her unspoken thoughts.

"You want to be with him, don't you?" Xiao Lie's words carried a mixture of wisdom and reassurance, as if he had already anticipated her inner conflict.

"Father..." Xiao Lingxi began, torn between her emotions and her sense of duty.

Her father's arms enveloped her in a comforting embrace, offering guidance in a way that only a parent could. "When the time is right, go to him. Your heart knows what it wants. And he needs you, as does Retsu and Xia Qingyue. Perhaps someday, you'll bring me the joy of being a grandparent."

The unexpected suggestion left Xiao Lingxi blushing and flustered, yet it was a testament to her father's deep care and understanding.

Amidst sniffles, Xiao Lingxi's cries resonated, a blend of mixed emotions. It was a moment of release for both father and daughter, a bittersweet realization that change was inevitable.

"Once you're prepared, go to them," Xiao Lie's words were not just permission but a heartfelt blessing, signaling that the time had come for Xiao Lingxi to follow her heart's desire.

With a determined nod, she hugged her father tightly, feeling a sense of newfound resolve within her. Her happiness had always mattered to her father, and it was time to chase that happiness, even if it meant leaving his side.

Yet, she couldn't bear to leave without leaving behind some form of security for her father. The thought occurred to her, spurred by her love and gratitude. As she retreated to her room, the words Yun Che had mentioned echoed in her mind. He had spoken of something to initiate a business back in her room. Curiosity piqued, she embarked on a quest to discover what he had meant, determined to contribute to her father's well-being before embarking on her own journey to be with those she loved.
