"He's awake! Someone quickly call Professor Augustus!"
"Yes ma'am right away!"
Griff had slowly opened his eyes, thinking that he'd soon wake up on his soft bed. Well, the bed was soft, but the screaming and shouting was not worth it. He wanted to grind his teeth in frustration, but he noticed that he didn't have the strength to do so.
'What was I doing last time... oh yeah! That match! Gotta give it to her that girl was pretty strong. Don't you think so too Caph?'
There was no answer from Caphriel. Griff just shrugged it off as her being moody as usual.
However, Caphriel was anything but moody right now. She was still breathing heavily in... fear of what she had saw back at the fight. That girl was lucky to have survived, and that she was also there to control the situation.
Caphriel had had to block Griff's uncontrollable mana flow, otherwise he would have continued on a rampage, most likely slaughtering everyone in vicinity with that unfathomable mana he had. It was shocking to her. She had never in her life come across a mortal who she'd feel fear for.
She had thought that she was the one toying with Griff most of the time, and that he was the one who needed her...
A/N: Guess again Caphy~
Yeah... she didn't feel like antagonizing Griff anymore. He truly had no idea what he had slumbering deep inside him. Ready to run amok when it felt that his body was in danger...
She was shocked to see he had even waken up after only half a day. She had actually blocked his mana reserves!
[Can't you be less of a monster? You white-black haired freak? Do you have any idea what the hell you are? Oi oi stop calling me Caphy it makes me feel on edge...]
Of course she didn't let Griff hear what she thought. Oh well... she's have to lay low inside Griff's mind for now anyway the entire process of stopping his mana flow had almost made HER, an archangel, faint from exhaustion...
"Oh sir!"
Suddenly all the healing mages in the infirmary stood on edge. Griff slowly raised himself from his bed to take a look to see that it was the Professor who had directed that exercise. He was a pretty harsh man... was he going to be kicked from the school for fighting a Gilded King now?
'Damn nobility. They're at it again. Just getting rid of whatever doesn't please you. Oh well, let's get this expulsion out of the way real fast. It's not like I wanted to be here anyway.'
The man raised his hand, gesturing all of the healing mages to stand at ease.
"Leave us alone. I have something to talk to with this student. In Private..."
"Yes Professor Augustus!"
The healing mages scrambled outside in fear. One of them even bumped his head on the door.
'Oi oi. How scary is this man anyway...'
Augustus turned to look at Griff with his steel piercing look. Griff was slowly becoming on edge as he expected a fierce scolding session... however...
"Sire... May I ask which noble house you are from? No Phoenix or commoner could have withstood the strength of one of the top 5 students in the First Years. I do not know for what reason sire hides his identity, but I want you to know that you can trust me."
The man, Augustus, humbly spoke as he slightly bowed his head with a... gentle smile?
Griff had a pretty shocked expression on his face... The pikachu face he was making, however, only made Augustus think he was in deep thought. So he decided to wait respectfully for his answer.
'WHAAAAAAT! WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO NOW?! HE THINKS I'M SOME BIG SHOT FALLEN NOBLE OR SOMETHING! OI OI DON'T LOOK AT ME WITH SUCH CHIVALROUS EYES! IT MAKES ME FEEL BAD!'
A few seconds later Griff calmed down. Oh, he was definitely still mind fucked and stressed, but he didn't want to fall out of the good graces of this man now that he had apparently gotten it.
'Okay... my power of bullshitting shouldn't be dulled...'
Griff slightly cleared his throat and spoke up.
"Well Professor Augustus. You see, I didn't want to draw a lot of attention on myself. When 'that' tragedy befell my house, I knew that I was in a hard situation... As such, I disguised myself as a commoner and decided to cultivate myself to become stronger to get what is rightfully mine!"
'Did it work? Please tell me it worked. No one can come up with such a good bullshit story in seconds! Come on fall for it please! I don't wanna get beaten up.'
Augustus simply looked at Griff as he talked and his pupils grew as he heard the word 'that tragedy.'
"Oh my... my lord! I never expected you to be alive and well! Oh my lord this is such a grace! I cannot believe how you made it out of 'that.' However, all that matters is that you're alive and well!"
'Eh... e- Wait. Did he just... HE THINKS I'M HIS LIEGE OR SOMETHING DOESN'T HE?!'
Augustus then instantly bent his knee as he lowered his head in excitement.
"I never expected this day to come true no matter how much I prayed, but it really must be you! There is no one else who matches this backstory! My liege, Heir to the Breaker House, Duke Breaker! As the Marquis of the Antler house, I pledge you my loyalty once more!"
'Yeah... I'm in deep shit that I can't get out anymore right?...'
"Uh... yeah! You may rise Marquis Antlers. However, I wish that you do not spread the word that I am here."
"Of course my liege! I'm aware of the enemies who backstabbed your father. Rest not, I, Augustus, shall not stop till you receive what is rightfully yours and resume to your old position!"
'Yep... I'm stuck in the middle of a game of power now, and one wrong move will probably end up killing me...'
