Chapter 4 - Vengeance Is A Drink That Can Never Quench Your Thirst:

Akhiko still shocked by the results of a single rogue beast, had finally began regaining his senses. He picked up the cold blood drenched boy and carried him to his cabin, lugging him with his one good arm and throwing him on the porch. To no surprise he didn't even flinch, he was out cold. He proceeded pick up a bucket of ice water and threw it on the boy in hopes of getting him up, but this too was in vain. It seems he was in an almost comatose state as a result of shock and exhaustion. Akhiko was at least in relief that it had washed most of the blood out before he took him inside, so that he had gained less attention from what else might be lurking in the woods...but mostly relieveing himself from bloodying his couch or cherished rug.

Akhiko took him inside and dried him off with the towel, then throwing it in the washing he carried the boy up a flight of stairs leading to the guest bedroom next to his own. He then went back down stairs to his desk, considering whether to report this incident to his superiors. To report the capture of this escaped monster, A.K.A. "The Behemoth", but then they would have to take the boy whom had already been through this ordeal and, "dispose" of him due to the national security issues.

He took a deep breath and with a gulp of his already parched throat, he picked up the phone and dialled the number to his office and asked for his superior and minister of military security. His mind wondered and his almost non existent conscious being pondered. He said the words that changed history and didn't even know it, "There has been a problem in my grandfather's condition and I have to go see him in hospital. So if possible I would like to extend my leave.". The words now spoken he took a deep sigh of relief, he then heard the reply, "You will be able to take all of your accumulated leave, but that is the best I can do. By the way, say hello to your grandfather for me", he grinned to himself, "I will", he replied and then hung up.

He then with the most determined look that had ever been seen on his face looked at the blood trail outside the door, in the snow. He grabbed this house keys and picked up the snow shovel outside on the porch, he begrudgingly walked back to the horrendous scene that he hoped to never see again. His fingers still numb, but that not being the reason why his hands were shaking. Reimagining the mere sight had made him weak in the knees and the smell of fresh blood was enough to make any sane man nauseous. He followed the stained snow back and even upon knowing what to expect was brought to his knees and vomited in the bushes. This memory and sight would only get worse from now he thought to himself, so he grabbed the shovel helping him back up. Walking towards the pile of bodies that he had seen and will always remember sent shivers up his spine.

He remained there the entire night till dawn beak digging enough graves for a small village. In total there were 33, and alone he carried them back. His arms sore and hands filled with blisters he had finally finished, he had felt even if only a little better that a small burden was lifted. He lifted and carried the mutilated carcases to each grave one by one regurgitating after almost each one, he was feeling weak by now and the only one left was the boy's mother. Him now barely able to stand and even more unable to carry the woman headed back to the locked cabin with the key in his pocket. He dragged himself there ever so slowly, using his blistered and bleeding hands to use the shovel as a crutch, as his body felt begrudgingly unable to move. Now reaching the cabin he took off the torn now useless gloves, and tossed them in the bin that was placed next to the table and chair on the porch.

As he grabbed the key he looked at his hands realising only now that he was bleeding, with his bare flesh exposed the key and the ice cold weather burning his hands, but leaving them still frostbitten. The feeling of the metal was burning his flesh, but in the cold the cruel irony. He slowly losing feeling in his hand had unlocked the door and pushed it open. Then feeling the world spinning and is eyes heavy he passed out in the middle of the doorway. With the cold air gushing in and filling up the cabin. The once warm air that was heated due to the fire by the lounge now freezing like his mind.

He woke up later to the sounds of the woodpecker's that pecked on the windows early every morning, and the sounds of the humming birds that sang by the porch as they fed from the bird feeder he left outside. But he was confused as he was lying on his sofa with a blanket covering him and the feint sent from the kitchen as bacon was being fried, then he remember that he had passed out on the ice cold wooden floors and that there was a boy in his cabin. He stumbled to the kitchen where he saw the boy awake with a smile on his face, he couldn't believe it was the same person the same child. The last he saw of him was in madness, anger pain, agony and terror. He never once thought in that time that such a face could be made by him, not after what he witnessed as a child as he watched it happen to so many that he knew. Slaughtered ruthlessly, but then again he didn't want the child to relive his memories so he pretended that nothing was wrong asking him, "Do you know who I am?" The boy answered, "Yeah, I remember you saved me last night. Thanks for that by the way,I thought I was a gonner. Anyway that's why I made the breakfast".

Akhiko even more astonished at the fact that he remember that and could still be standing the mental torture that he was being put through, and it had seemed like nothing for him like he could turn a new leaf instantly. He didn't feel in the mood for questioning him as his stomach grumbled, he sat down immediately and said, "Thanks for the meal" and dug in not having eaten or even energy left to ask the questions that he wanted to ask. He started to stuff his mouth and as he was close to being to be finished he, heard the boy taking a bite of the omelette and saying in a calm casual monotone, "Coulduou by any chance take me back to where my mum was last night. I mean I know she is dead, but I still want to help you know bring her back. After all you wanted to bury, everyone didn't you?"Akhiko wondered how the boy figured that out, but before he had time to think the question was answered for him.

He boy replied, "First, your gloves are covered in blood stains. Secondly, your hands have blisters that you only get from digging with a shovel and lastly you talk in your sleep. Is what I want to say, but there are a lot of graves stones outside to be honest.". Akhiko pulled a straight face, recomposed himself and asked, "What will you do after that?" He replied, "I'll help you and you can help me", at this point he was confused what did he mean, "Help?".

"Well I went into your office and I saw the research you are doing on people and came to a conclusion that you can help me.", he said taking a sip of the orange juice. Akhiko then saw the same face he saw on the boy the night before, which could send fear into him, a grown man. The boy said clenching his fist and biting his lip.

"I will kill all of them that is what I want, I want the power to kill them all. I want to slaughter them; just like how they can mercilessly slaughter my family, everyone that I cared for; loved gone!". Akhikio thought for a while and replied, "You just want power for vengeance", don't you. "Yeah and I bet you need a new way more resilient and capable test subject". So do we have a deal? He asked Akhiko.

He replied, "Fine", but just so you know, "VENGENCE IS A DRINK THAT CAN NEVER QUENCH YOUR THIRST".
