Sumas had been very careful to teach the merfolk about humans and their dangers, however, merfolk for whatever rumor of capriciousness myth might have painted them with, were actually a very reasonable and strategic bunch. They didn't make snap decisions, but carefully sought to tease out truth in even the most obfuscated circumstances. While they did kidnap Sumas and Suraci from Sumas's geode, they only did so to ensure Sumas's safety. Once they had ensured that, Sumas was free to do whatever they wished. Even if that 'doing' involved Suraci. As a result, Suraci was not tortured nor was he harmed in any way, though he was interrogated.
The merfolk had established an embassy for intelligent land creatures underwater. It was convenient for the merfolk as they could easily leave and enter the ocean if they were starting to feel dehydrated, but it also provided as place for land dwellers to breathe while still in the realm of merfolk.
At the embassy, Sumas was still only semiconscious. Their best friend kept trying to get them to drink elixirs to make sure the drugs were adequately purged from their system, but Sumas wasn't exactly compliant. "Uma I need you to drink this, c'mon, neither of us want you to be sick."
Sumas hasily waved their hand as if to shoo the mermaid away. They mumbled "I'm fine, I only feel sick when I drink that stuff." then rolled over on the chaise in the executive suite of the embassy.
"Your Highness," a merman approached addressing the mermaid. She gestured to him to speak freely. "The human wishes to speak with you regarding the condition of your friend. He is, apparently, a doctor."
"What's his condition?" the merqueen asked.
"He's fairly belligerent, but it stands to reason he was likely that way before the herbs." The merman replied.
The merqueen gave it some thought and then said "send him in, but I want to speak with him first in the antechamber."
Merfolk had exhaustive knowledge of indigenous flora and fauna. They extracted, compounded and synthesized these things to make very complex concoctions that did everything from increase sexual desire (like the aphrodisiacs Sumas took) to treating physical maladies. They had also developed a sort of truth serum. It couldn't make someone tell the truth if that person believed a lie, but it would make them confess to known falsehoods. If the dosage wasn't high enough someone could somewhat finagle the truth by intentionally misinterpreting the question. This, of course, was tailored to each species and it meant that judgments handed down from mercourt were very serious, but still subject to reviews and appeals. Sometimes, however, there are unintended side effects and in significantly inhibited individuals it could cause a temporary lack of inhibition similar to drunkenness.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Suraci rarely got drunk. He didn't really like the taste of alcohol and he felt pretty strongly that any inhibitions he had were for reasons he saw as quite logical. He didn't really care if other people enjoyed this past time. It just wasn't for him. There were other substances that appealed to him that he utilized within reason so he naturally assumed other people got out of it something he didn't. Regardless, taking the merfolk's herbs wasn't exactly something he'd willingly consent to. Though it's not as if he willingly consented to being ripped out of bed and detained either. In fact, that reality alone had him particularly perturbed. Of all the ways he imagined his morning could go, this was probably last on his list, the first being him pushing his throbbing morning wood into Sumas's back until they begged him for it, or at very least asked nicely. However, instead he was surrounded by annoyed mermen who wanted to know everything about his top secret mission that he really didn't care about. They'd already confiscated his tablet, what were they hoping for here? After they administered the truth herbs they brought him before an investigator.
"What were you doing following a protected esteemed diplomat into their temporary residence?" the investigator asked.
"I think you, and probably EVERYONE ELSE WHO'S WATCHING NOW know what I did. Or are you wanting more details? Basically I put my penis inside them over and over again until we both passed out from cumming. It's called sex, we had a lot of sex." Suraci had a tendency to be a dick from time to time though he often held back, but being uninhibited, Suraci was like a dick if a dick took drugs to be more dick-like, went to school and got a degree in being a dick, then converted to dickism and instead of just becoming a confirmed member of the unholy order rose up the ranks to be the dick lord and savior complete with persecution complex.
The investigator, knowing the side effects, refused to acknowledge the behavior and simply proceeded with the interrogation. "Your body clearly shows signs of trauma. At one point last night it's obvious you were strangled by the esteemed diplomat while being restrained using your suit. This appears to have happened after you were knocked unconscious with blunt force trauma to the head. It's unlikely our esteemed diplomat would have used physical force to persuade and or detain you considering their nature and your willingness to brag about the interaction if that's indeed all that happened."
"Has it ever occurred to you that maybe they're into some freak shit you don't know about? Or that maybe they don't want you to know about it and maybe you prying into their private life is disrespectful and paternalistic?" Suraci was getting sanctimonious.
"If that was the case, you've already violated that principle with your confession." The investigator replied.
"You ripped us out of bed like two teenagers caught in the act, kidnapped us, drugged me and forced my confession and now you want to talk about PRINCIPLES. Did a principle at your grade school put you in detention for recess and ever since you've had a warped idea of what principles really are?" Having blue balls made Suraci antagonistic. He'd finally found someone he though he might really like, and within hours that person was literally ripped out of his arms. "Where are they anyway? They didn't seem too well this morning when you ABDUCTED them. You know I'm a doctor and this is my professional opinion."
"Need I remind you Mr.." The investigator was interrupted.
"Suraci, MY NAME IS SURACI." he yelled.
"Suraci, calm yourself. In this investigation I alone can ask the questions. We are here to establish you did not harm nor pose a threat to the esteemed diplomat. They have special, protected status here and will receive the best of care we have to offer. You, on the other hand, are refusing to cooperate with this investigation." The investigator was running out of patience when a member of the mercourt approached her and whispered in her ear. Her face visibly changed and she said "Well, it appears her Majesty would like to see you. We will escort you."
