Chapter 2 - waking up to chaos

My eye lids are so heavy...

Oh...right...I am a baby.

I was looking forward to this new life but I can't see or move...sign...hang on normally aren't family there when your born? Huh?...

Smoke! Why do I smell smoke?!

Then I suddenly I hear crashing footsteps coming towards me, "Gaaaagaaa!?"

Is that my voice?!...so weird...urg I have to re-learn to speak and write.

First I need to see!...

,Sighing internally I feel something pick me up.

I hear I voice directly above me:" why is there a baby here?"

A voice from the left:" who cares, lets take it with us."

A voice in front says:" yes, let's take it and put it up for sale like the others."

T_T looks like the horizon is bright...at least I know what they're saying.

Ohhhh, light, I can seeeee!!! Finallllly....

Ah...the first thing I can see is a very dirty beard...

Well aside from these three dreadful guys, this place is in ruins, the roof nocked off of what would of been a sizeable house, with debris everywhere.

Taken out of the ruined house I feel a blistering cold hit me and I see a lot clearer what these guys look like (my kidnapers) with a ragged dark green uniform with a tie and all.

Being carried I could see a ruined town that was left to burn, I can't see any dead people so I assume they escaped. Hmmmm, strange why am I the only one here, we'll I am just a baby.

When they got out of the ruins I saw a wagon, as we got closer a man grabbed me and threw me into a cage under a large cloth. Without warning a hand picked me up and brought me towards the back of the cell where I got promptly stared at. By not two or three but nine young girls. This kind of freaked me out, I mean this is probably the most attention I have ever received.

Looking up to the girl carrying me I see that she is an elf.

Although the staring continues,

she says: "this ..baby seems different...the humans didn't notice."

A younger elf says: " what do you mean sister?"

oldest sister: "he has unique mana around him, it's hard to see but it's there."

One of the younger sisters says: "what do we do?"

The oldest sister says gently:"we can only do our best to care for him."

The oldest sister lowers her head to look at me, when she did that I could see how malnourished she was. Even if I had never been healthy I could tell her state was horrendous as much as she tried to hide it behind her gentle smile.

They stopped talking as one of the men had come to give us gruel.

When he left the oldest sister said that they would split the food fairly, giving me part of her share was hardly fair though. I couldn't reject her kindness...after it was split we went to sleep, well I wanted to stay up and think but of course my baby body was like nope.

By the time I woke up we had all ready been given gruel for breakfast and lunch. The youngest had already picked me up and tried feeding me some of the gruel. Luckily the oldest stopped her and waited for me to wake up.

Soon I fell back asleep. After who knows how long we stopped to re-stock, quickly I realised I was wrong as they came back with a severely beaten up boy who was very pretty and yet surprisingly tough which was probably why they kidnapped him.

When he saw us he sighed and asked " how long have you been here for?"

The eldest said :" three years, they want to sell us at the highest price so it's taken a while."

Second oldest :" The baby boy here and you are the latest additions."

One of the other Younger sisters said: " baby go here" and held up two fingers up and continued "day ago." How sweet…

We were locked up for a year in which I got to know them and then each other.

And we all cared for each other like family. This involved the elves showing me their friends: the fairy's, who kept an eye out for an opportunity to escape. Though they haven't ever found a chance because of our condition. Still the fairy's were what kept us sane, they used orbs to show us the spectacular sights of the outside world letting us dream of brighter days…
