How many people actually plan out their lives in detail?
I know that if you go to some countries like Japan, kids are encouraged to do so from Junior highschool. Hell even in some western counties parents want to plan your life for you or have you have a set plan in mind.
For me? I was always given my own freedom. Sure my parents wanted me to achieve good grades. But, they were always more concerned about me enjoying what I was doing. Even my homeroom teacher taught me that what I wanted to do in my life didn't matter aslong as I followed my heart. Aslong I followed my dreams and found happiness, that was all that mattered to those around me.
Sounds great, doesn't it? No pressure, just freedom. I thought so too. Hell I thought so right up until my university graduation day. I followed my dream, took the course I wanted.
Yet, was it worth it? Could I have done better?
My degree was in ancient history, a subject I have always loved. Yet, even with my degree I couldn't decide on what to do.
So I decided to travel, see the world, teach English as a foreign language. I thought it would be perfect, I could explore and grow as a person.
However, while I enjoyed my life. I found myself looking at my old friends, friends who had a clear plan for life, getting a career, a house, even a family. While me? I had a job that was going nowhere, with a company that couldn't really care if I stayed or left.
I was lost. 5 years of exploring the world and I still had no plan for my life. Instead I just had a lot of debt and more doubts.
Where was my life going? What should I do? What is it that I really want to do?
So many questions, so little answers.
Then one day, sitting on the train to work. I just so happened to see an advert. It was for a game called Altera Vita.
