Chapter 136 - Chapter 205 Ke's Challenge

On the morning of the second day, Baron had gotten a lot of work done concerning how he thought he could improve the performance of his army. After the fighting started, he could see just how much easier it was to defend with all of the changes he had made. This was also visible in the other two battlefields, except that Baron's army saw the most transformations as the deepstrikes that were now under Roxi's command were now able to be twice as effective than they had been yesterday. This was just the first day under her supervision, what would it be like a few days from now when she was even more comfortable and had experience in this field?

Tactics on this day of the battle were nearly the same as the day before, using many of the fighter strategists on the front lines that would give them the advantage. With everything put together, Baron and his allies were able to take out nearly double the number of enemies as they had done yesterday. All this while keeping the number of casualties on their side to a minimum. By the time that all the armies retreated for the night, this much was evident on both sides. Really only commander Ke and his army were the ones who were slightly being pushed back.

A messenger from Zhang Da Zhi and commander Ke came to deliver a message to Baron, its contents were that both of them had seen the effectiveness of Roxi's use of the deepstrikes and wanted her to take over their parts of the deepstrikes as well. Of course, neither Baron nor Roxi objected to the decision and she began to reform and consolidate all of the deepstrikes into one cohesive unit that had many subunits. After working on it all night, she was fairly confident in her ability to make a huge impact on the battlefield.

Zhang Da Zhi spent the night with his two right-hand men and the rest of his trusted generals briefing them on what he thought they would be able to do better on while they were out on the battlefield. With all of them cooperating and thinking as a team, they were able to come up with multiple solutions to some problems that some of them had been facing earlier in the day. On commander Ke's camp, he was still brainstorming on how to deal with the problem of his split army not being so compatible with each other. While he was also going around dealing with other matters, he could not reform as much as Zhang Da Zhi and Baron could with this heavy topic weighing on his mind.

On the third day of battle, Ke could see that he was facing off against more enemies than he had in either of the previous days. It was likely that the enemy had figured out that his army was the weakest out of the three and that if they wished to breakthrough, it was best to go through him first. In fact, he was being dominated so much so that Zhang Da Zhi had Qi Ji Guang take an attachment of 20,000 soldiers and reinforce Ke's position. Thankfully, Qi Ji Guang's arrival was exactly what they needed and they were just barely able to push back their foes before the end of the day.

There was one good thing to come out of today though, with Roxi's guidance, the deepstrikes were able to deal so much damage to the enemies on all sides that they were still able to come out on top even more than the previous day. Clearly, having Roxi control the deepstrikes was the most efficient way of using the deepstrikes. With every passing day, she was able to see just where it was most appropriate to launch a few missiles. This third day was a real test to see if she was able to do handle such an important task, and she did so to damn near perfection. Once she was completely comfortable with all of this, the enemies would know what it was to fear long-ranged attacks, even more so than they were right now.

Due to Ke's performance, Zhang Da Zhi sent Qi Ji Guang to help him out on the battlefield full-time. As was the case for Baron and Guan Yu. Once these two had a quick chat with Ke regarding what problems he was having, they all took their best stab at what they thought would be able to unite the two opposing armies. Guan Yu was familiar with how to deal with such a situation, but it would require a lot of resources to pull off. Guan Yu asked for permission to go ahead with his plan and Ke was so desperate that he readily agreed. That night, all of Ke's men were allowed to let loose and party with each other with what little supplies that they could spare. Who knows if such a plan would work? They would have to wait for the following day of battle to find out.

Although the current situation seemed to be getting better for Baron and his allies, the fact still remained that they had only been fighting 800,000 soldiers out of an army of 2,500,000. If they were able to get through the first wave, then their soldiers would be fairly worn out to defend from the rest of the enemy army.

After these few days of fighting, Baron estimated that his side had probably 25,000 dead men out of their 300,000 men army. On the other hand, he guessed that the enemy had lost close to 100,000 men. These were by no means accurate, but it was his best guess at what the current situation was like given that his allies had mostly managed to come out on top every single day as well as Roxi and the deepstrikes having a higher impact on the battlefield than ever before. An unforeseen circumstance that Baron didn't mind.
