Chapter 113 - Chapter 182 The Deal

By noon of the fifth day, Baron had still not engaged with Xuan Feng's army and the two continued to stare at each other until Xuan Feng finally decided to get the ball rolling. However, this was no ordinary offensive that was coming Baron's way. Nearly 10,000 soldiers came rushing at Baron's forces. Roxi was the first one on the case once again targeting the vehicles that would otherwise have been a massive headache for the regular infantry that would be brunting the first wave.

There were not many huge developments on this day as neither side decided to commit any strategists to the front line and it became a standard battle of attrition with both sides just continually throwing soldiers at each other. As such, the soldiers that both sides lost were pretty much the same amount. That very night, just after Baron's soldiers got into their tents ready to go to bed, enemy forces came once again to screw them over. This was an unusual time to launch a night raid, but Baron and his crew had been preparing for this possibility after the very first night.

At first, there was pandemonium everywhere, but after Baron got to work, everything seemed to straighten out on his end. He was able to get everything taken care of the West side of the camp while he entrusted all of the other areas to Meng Wu and his men. However, after contacting the others, he soon was clear on why the enemy chose to attack this time. They did it so that he himself would be preoccupied enough not to get in touch with his allies which would give Xuan Feng's men enough time to take out Meng Wu.

This night raid had disastrous results for Baron. Not only did he lose Meng Wu to Xuan Feng's men, but he also lost everyone that was under him. That meant that now, it was only Baron and Roxi who would be fighting against Xuan Feng. It was a good sign for them that the enemy forces immediately retreated once they had captured all of Baron's allies, or else, Baron would have had a few thousand more casualties. Things were looking extremely dire now that things were getting this far along in the battle.

On the sixth day of battle, Baron decided to let Roxi camp a little closer to his position so that if anyone came for him, Roi would be able to react faster, not to mention, she finally brought out the Brilliant Blue weapon that she prided her life's work on. Xuan Feng had demonstrated great ability to go on the defensive and offensive as shown in his preparations for the first few days and the night raid last night. Though Baron was now even less confident of his abilities to push back Xuan Feng, he owed it to his allies to try.

That was how the next few days came to be, there were a few fighter strategists by Baron's side, but he decided it was best to keep them in camp. As a direct result of this, their front lines suffered from the strategists and elite guards of Xuan Feng who were rampaging around. Eventually, Baron could do nothing as he saw his entire army, or what was left of it, folded and were routed. He could have chosen to run away, but given his enemy was Xuan Feng, he doubted he would be able to get very far before the skilled strategist was able to track him down. So, he decided to stay right where he was and allowed his soldiers to keep running for their lives. Baron had one last trick up his sleeve, Roxi.

Xuan Feng, now fully aware of what skills Baron had under his belt, and his entourage of hundreds of elite guards approached Baron surprised that he would just wait there for them to come over. Nevertheless, the two sides met face to face to discuss the battle that had just taken place.

(RB) "Give me the word Baron. I'll kill all of them right now with my special weapon." Roxi radio-ed Baron.

(BM) "Don't do anything until I give you the word, Roxi." He responded as he watched Xuan Feng and his closest men step up to meet Baron.

(RB) "Grah, fine." She said as she saw through her scope that the two finally came face to face with each other.

(XF) "Baron." Xuan Feng said with a hint of expectancy in his voice.

(BM) "Xuan Feng."

(XF) "To be honest, I did not think that your skills would disappoint me to such a degree."

(BM) "Well, I apologize for not being up to your standard."

(XF) "Don't be too hard on yourself, not a lot of people are. That being said, this battle was indeed quite below my standards."

(RB) "I have him in my sights."

(BM) "Stand down, Roxi!"

(XF) "You still had one important piece left? It's no matter, what can one do against my hundreds?"

(BM) "Let's cut the nonsense. I know that you have not gotten your fill. So how about I propose something that might?"

(XF) "Sounds interesting, go on."

(BM) "Bring your entire army and I'll gather all of my allies as well. A battle of this scale should be enough for you, no?"

(XF) "I'm afraid that even with all of you, you don't warrant me mobilizing my entire army. However, I haven't let loose in a long time, this might be good for my men too. Tell you what, you get a few more people fighting for your cause, and I'll bring along some of my closest allies. I'll await your message."

(BM) "Then it's a deal. Now that that is concluded, what have you done to my allies?"

(XF) "Oh them, thanks for reminding me. Guards!" He said as he snapped his fingers.

Out of his group came nearly a dozen men all carrying heavy sacks and threw them at Baron.

(XF) "Your friends are all there. Killing them is of no use to me. Good luck." With that, his entire army left to go back to the Yellow Wang faction's main base.
