"Are you serious!? She's already your wife and had two children and yet she still doesn't know you're a mafioso before!?"
"Geez, no need to shout, brat!" Costas winced as he rubbed his righr ear. "Of course, she had some doubts. She isn't stupid. But if I tell her that I am a mafioso, then she will, without a doubt, leave me and possibly shoot me in the head."
"No lie there."
"Also," Costas glared at Aisha for her brutal remark. "I swore to Morano to never leak any information about the De La Torre famiglia and about me being a mafioso when I decided to leave the famiglia."
"But why continue being a police?"
"Hey! In this way, I can still protect our famiglia from the officials." Costas gaze turned serious as he look at his friend, whom he considered brother. "I may not be a part of the De La Torre famiglia now, but my heart stays with it. It will always be my home and I will do everything to protect my home."
"Even if you have to lie and keep your past as a secret from your wife?"
"Yes, even if I lie to her and keep all of these as a secret from her." Costas turn his body to face Aisha and patted her in the head. "Sometimes, in this world... you need to keep something important a secret in order to protect the ones you loved."
Aisha was silent for awhile, before she asked, "You knew about that, didn't you?"
Costas smiled bitterly. "Yes, I was there when it happened."
"Then," Aisha could feel something was blocking her throat so she cleared her throat a couple of times before continuing. "Do you think... that I should tell him about this? Or keep this thing a secret?"
"It's up to you to decide whether to tell him or not." Costas answered, then he took one last look at the portrait before turning his back against it. "It's been hard on you, little girl." He patted her one last time on her shoulder before making his way to the entrance.
His heart is aching for Aisha. Both of her parents died, leaving her all alone in this cruel world. She have a whole mafia famiglia to manage on her shoulder, and has to deal with all these shïts by herself. Not to mention...
As Costas was in front of the two huge double doors, he stopped and said, "Your wise Father had once said, that no matter how you grieved or hated the past... past is a past that you can no longer change, and if you hold on to it, you can't move forward to your future. The only thing you can do to keep going is to accept the past and... forgive." And then he left.
Aisha stayed in front of the portrait, her eyes look solemn as she fell into her own thoughts.
Accept the past... and forgive...?
Accepting her horrible past is one thing, but forgiving those who harm and kill her parents is another thing.
Her mother is too soft and kind, she will not like it if Aisha choose the path of revenge and be with the darkness all her life. Meanwhile, although being the once feared Mafia Boss, Morano will not like it if his only daughter completely choose the dark path of the mafia world.
However, Aisha was not willing to let those people live a happy life while her parents suffered and died from their hands.
She will avenge them whether they like it or not.
Until then... she will live a life free from the shackles of her past.
Aisha's eyes was full of determination as she look up one last time on their family portrait.
I, Aisha Ciana Ainsworth-De La Torre, swear that I will avenge my parents and put those dàmn beings into hèll.
