Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

In the valley the vast sky was light blue. The sun was shining, birds were singing flying high in the air. The leaves on the trees were green with a touch of brown signifying the changing seasons, small critters could be seen scurrying about. The breeze blew through the valley into the village. The smell of blood wafted in the air. The ground was no longer green it's usual color it was dyed red. But for Kuma the world was silent and everything turned gray. His heart beat slower and his lungs tightened up making his breathing heavier. His heart, his world, and his reasoning seemed to be split in two.

Dashing forward wildly he arrived in front of the beast. Throwing a set of vicious quick jabs he broke the legs of the giant wolf before throwing it into a corner of the room. Turning his attention back to shuri a lump formed into his throat. Kuma's mind went fuzzy a throbbing pain originated from his head. Deep sorrow and agony wrecked his body. The emotions so intense he began to feel pain. Gently caressing Shuri's body he wept. Kuma's emotions ate at him from the inside. A soul wrenching cry escaped his lips. Even supreme beings unaffected by the mortal world would feel sorrowful from the sound. Kuma sat with Shuri in his arms for an unknown amount of time before finally letting reality slip back in. He knew now wasn't the time to be crying.

It was time for a massacre!!

Gently placing Shuri's body down he began to recollect himself. building his Qi he dashed out the building like a crazed demon slaughtering every beast in sight. Except for the few stragglers inside the village he found the rest of the beast over by the river.

Watching the beast drink the water a few things clicked in to place in his mind but there was no sympathy only an undying rage. Charging forward he began his massacre. slicing, cleaving, and ripping anything in sight he unleashed everything in his arsenal. The beast were incapable of resisting. Soon the river carried a pinkish hue to it as all the beast died in brutal ways under Kuma's rage. Covered in wounds Kuma dragged himself back to the town center to take care of the last beast. He didn't believe it was worthy of a quick death.

Miserable cries of pain echoed throughout the silent village for hours before finally dying out. Kuma sat down exhausted in front of the tortured beast. He's been constantly on the move ever since the war horns sounded. He began to ponder while looking over towards the whole in the wall.

"Why would shuri stop the beast from leaving?" He wondered. Remembering her the horrifying wounds that covered her body he trembled a little bit. Picking himself up he decided to investigate. Stepping out the hole on the other side. He saw little tracks on the ground.

"A survivor?" He thought Anxiously following the tracks up the mountain. After traveling for a bit he finally met the end of the tracks. Looking over emotionally he saw a ten year old boy from the village sleeping on the ground.

"If I remember correctly his name should be kylo." Kuma spoke to himself while scooping the boy up into his arms then placing him on his back.

Leaving the area and walking back toward the village. Kuma started to think about the future and his next moves. After his parents passed all he ever wanted was a family and a place to call home. But now he lost both of the things he cared about in one instance. His home and the only family he had left. Looking over the gray world Kuma's heart began to close off, the lazy naive boy from before was no longer present. A mature air hovered around Kuma his eyes cold and unattached.

Making it back to the village Kuma set the boy down and began to dig holes. He didn't use his Qi to make them instead he used his bare hands. Making adult size holes in rows digging away into the hard ground . Kuma didn't finish till the sun rose the next day. Looking over to the boy to find out he was still unconscious he started to move the bodies of the villagers into the makeshift graves.

When he finished covering all of the the holes it was late afternoon. Carefully picking up shuri's body he moved her to where her parents were buried. Before setting her down and digging a hole with heavy hands. When it was all done Kuma placed her tiny frame down into the hole befor sealing it. Walking over to the boy Kylo he took out a weeks worth of rations from his supplies and placed it next to him.

Walking back to shuri's grave he got on his knees and knelt. a solemn look in his dark eyes almost like he was fulfilling a ritual. Unmoving like a statue he stayed in that position for the next seven days.

When Kylo came too he was jumpy and confused. He found himself back in the village. Looking around he found some rations on the ground and saw someone kneeling off to the side.

" big brother Kuma " he spoke quietly not making an attempt to walk over. he just sat there watching Kuma for six days. Klyo recalled the past and his escapades all the way to when big sister Shuri pushed him through the wall. Remembering her back as she valiantly charged the beast. In a daze he finally saw the statue like Kuma begin to move. Quickly running over kylo wrapped his tiny arms around Kuma.

"I'm sorry I'm so sorry" Kylo cried tears sliding down his face. The emotions he bottled up for the past six days all leaking out at once. The shame in his heart washing over him

Looking down at Kylo. Kuma began patting his back and sighed.

"It's okay... there was nothing you could've of done."

He began to scoop the boy up. Placing him on his back. Starring at Shuri's grave on last time he began to head east leaving the village behind.
