---Catastrophe---
I was dreaming of a beautiful lady smiling at me. Her smiles are alluring and she looks like a Goddess or Mother Nature to me. Porcelain skin, golden hair… I almost think that she's the most perfect woman that I had ever seen in my life. She gently caressed my face and my hair with those motherly smiles. It melts my heart instantly and I saw love in her eyes that I haven't seen for two years. She called me in a name that I don't know. Why had I forgotten it almost immediately?
She kissed my forehead and started braiding my hair which made me sleepy. It is kind of weird because it is a dream yet that dream makes me sleepy.
"How do you like your hair?" she asked me like I was her child.
"I don't know…" I answer. "Do you know where my father is?" I asked her, didn't think of my words.
Father? I was looking for George, the one who took me in and saved me from dying, two years ago. Her eyes became sad and there's a pain in it. I feel guilty about asking it because the love and happiness in her eyes a while ago just disappeared like a pop of a bubble. I didn't mean to change it with sadness and pain.
"Your father? I don't know, darling." She said, full of anguished.
"Am I already dead and talking to a Goddess Spirit?" I asked her. She giggled and I stopped at how it changed her expression so easily. She's so expressive and the curves of her eyes go along with it.
"No, my sweet child. You are not dead yet. I just came into your dreams to have time with you. I missed you a lot…" I am confused. "Oh, time to go back." She said quickly and stood after fixing my hair. "Remember one thing, my child. I am always around. We live in a cruel world and I am the only one whom you can trust." She kissed my forehead. I know it's weird and I can feel that I could trust her.
I heard a soft sound of classical music. The Moonlight Sonata of Beethoven… how I love that orchestra. It was soothing. The pain in my head is stinging also my arm, my shoulder, and my thigh. I can't move my right arm and my leg too. Damn, will I survive on this body pain? I winced when I tried to open my eyes but blinded by a little light that makes my head hurt
"Easy." The masculine voice made me stop. I relaxed and I gently opened my eyes to meet a pair of crystal green eyes. He smiles at me. "How are you, Adhiti?" he asked me. I stared at him. It's been a while since I last saw him. But I have to act like I don't know him. Even though my heart is pumping fast and loud.
"I am not good. The wounds are extremely painful." I answer him monotonously. I tried my best to sit up and I succeeded though it was all painful. Damn! Are there any pain killers?
Damn those stupid mutated ugly people. I remember them, trying to kill me two years ago. But they are just mutated minions with an ugly face and their face could open up like how an octopus would open his tentacles.
I remember that our house was attacked by two men. I saw marks of blood on the wall. At first, I thought George was dead but he tossed me a bag that contained documents and money and told me to leave. I hate to leave him but it's always the plan that he always said to me. He trained me on how to control the affinity that I have. He said that I have the gift of Earth. Then, that's when I find out that I can control other things.
"You shouldn't move." He said as he offered a glass of water. I took it with my left hand and sipped on it a little. "What happened to you all these years?" he asked like he knew who I was. However, I will make sure that they will think that I wasn't Adhiti. I will make sure that everyone in the Academy will think that I was someone else. They might be a doppelganger or Adhiti's twin. But at this moment, I am Catastrophe. I will destroy people who ruined my life.
"What happened to me?" I asked blinking, puzzled from his question. "I do not understand what you are talking about—mister but those years I was with my father."
"Your father? Kraig?" he furrows.
"No. I don't know Kraig. Besides, I don't know who you are. Who are you?" I asked formally, acting all monotonous. "And where in the world am I?" Then, I just realized that he's the one who saved me and called me after I got into an accident while those men were after me.
"Adhi, it's me, Nick. Don't you remember?" He said it quickly like he's eager to know everything as he reached my cheek.
"Well, Nick. My name is not Adhi or Adhiti if it was a name. You might mistakenly see me like her."
"That's absurd. You are Adhiti Patterson."
I blink twice and search around the room. It looks more like a bedroom than a hospital. Or am I in his bedroom? I saw my bag and my broken helmet sitting on the table. I look back at him. He took the glass from me and put it on the table beside him.
"My name is not Adhiti, Sir," I said formally. I started removing the brace on my right arm that is supporting it. He holds my left hand. It is unusual to me now that it has a big effect on me on how he touched me.
"Do not remove it," he demands.
"How many hours am I here?" I asked him as I pushed his hands away from me.
"Seventy-Three hours." He answered. So, I have been here for three days. Hmm, I didn't expect that it would be that long.
He stared at me and I stared back at him. He has this diamond-shaped face, strong jaw, a crossbow shape of lips, little big green eyes, thick eyebrows, pointed high slender nose, and brown hair. His eyes are expressive like I always knew. I wanted to touch it and hold it, yet I don't know if he already moved on.
"If you are not my Adhiti then who are you?" he asked, sounding strong and desperate. I was once his lover, but that was back then before I went missing or perhaps dead in their eyes.
"My name Catastrophe Canfield," I answered.
"Catastrophe... you mean, destruction, disastrous, tragedy...calamity?" he questioned.
"You are good at the synonyms. And yes, that is the name given to me by my father."
"I don't believe you," he said as he folds his muscular arms furrowing at me.
"Then, don't. I do not care if you believe me or not. At this moment, I wanted to get out of here." I said monotonously. He sighed without leaving his eyes on me.
"Who are those people chasing you?"
"I don't have an idea. I came home from school and they trespassed on our property. My father who is still alive, and probably had survived, told me to escape and they started chasing me and ended up almost killing me." I explained to him. It looks like he believes me. That's right Nick, believe me.
"And where's your father?"
"I don't know." I lied. He moved closer to me and tucked my messy hair at the back of my ear. He studies my facial features and it is unusual to me but I have to stay impassive.
"Are you certain that you don't know who I am? Or perhaps on where you are?"
"Yes. And, where am I?" I asked him.
"You are in Mystical Academy. In this school, we choose the people who can only enter here. Since you have nowhere to go—"
"How can you say that I have nowhere to go?" I cut him off which makes him chuckle and smile lopsidedly.
"I just said it. You are safer here as long as I am here. I choose you to be my apprentice and I, as your mentor. Are we clear?" I blink for a moment.
"Mentor?"
"Yes. Every student here has their mentor or advisers. You will take the classes—"
"Why do you want me to be your Apprentice?" I asked him frankly, sounding a little agitated about his decision. I should be the one to decide.
"Because I believe that you are not Catastrophe."
---Nicholas---
I watch her every expression. She wasn't showing anything. She's monotonous all the time and she looked up at me with that straight face. There's no hint of lies or anything. I almost think that she's not Adhiti. I almost think that she's just Adhiti's doppelganger or if she has a twin sister.
If she's the twin sister, I could detect every part of her that isn't Adhiti. An identical twin still has flaws from each other. The shape of their eyes is the same but not the color. I don't know how she changed her eyes but she isn't even wearing any contact lens.
For two days that she's been sleeping, I cancel everything and take sick leave for those days just to watch her sleep. I know every part of Adhiti even though we haven't done it. We kiss, we cuddle and we love each other. Seeing this woman that claimed to be Catastrophe makes my heartache. Thinking that I cheated on Adhiti even makes it worse for me. But it's me, who makes it all hard for her. I should've continued searching for her rather than drowning myself in those lewd dreams that drive me insane. I should've searched for her on those sleepless nights than sleeping with different ladies and mostly to Eliza.
She looked at me to indicate what's in the bag and I did. Money, cards, IDs, and documents.
It says that she's not Adhiti.
