Chapter 71 - I can still live happily without a girlfriend

Lia took the tissue and wiped the tears hurriedly. She thought he would hand her a handkerchief or tissue and even coax her to stop crying but all he did was crossing his arms and stared at her. He did not even care that some people saw her crying!

It made her want to cry even more.

How could he do this to her? Wasn't she the love of his life?

She sniffed and dabbed her tears with fresh tissue.

"Are you done?"

Her eyes widened at his cold words.

"Why... why are you so mean?" she choked out.

"Lia, stop acting like this. I am busy. I don't have time for your tantrum."

Her jaw dropped. Was he telling her she was a spoiled girl indirectly?

"How could you say like that?" she pressed the tissue into a crumpled ball.

"Lia, if you have nothing else to say, I am going to leave. I am busy." He thought he could meet Mei Li and discuss about his new work. He suddenly wanted to expose himself to more work. He wanted to be on the same par or almost on the same par as Ryn.

He stood up, preparing to leave.

"Wait... wait... I'll talk. Please don't leave yet," she caught his hand before he could leave.

He stopped and looked at her, cocking an eyebrow.

She quickly pushed him to sit back. Then, she went back to her seat. She sipped her drink to try to calm her down. He looked serious so she could not use her charm.

He had changed so much. He did not even have patience with her.

So hurtful.

"Actually I want to see you earlier but I am ashamed," she said slowly.

He crossed his arms and cocked an eyebrow.

"I... it was not my intention to suddenly disappear but... but..." she lifted her head and looked at him helplessly.

Still, he did not give any reaction.

Slumping her shoulders down, she continued, "You know how excited I was to be able to go to Vienna. You know it is my lifelong dream to study there..."

"So?" he finally spoke. He was getting impatient with her trying to take a lot of time just to explain.

"I got... distracted. I was so focused on..."

"Another handsome guy who coincidentally from a rich family and not to mention, your classmate too?" he cut her words.

Her face paled.

"Just admit that you are desperate to be with me after he dumped you for someone else."

She shook her head, "No... no... it is not like that. I didn't do that. I was... I was so focussing on my study until I forgot about you."

Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.

He sighed a bit. "I'm sorry, Lia. I am no longer that naive stupid boy. Don't take me as a fool."

"I... I didn't, Harry. Please believe me," she cried.

He took out some cash and put it on the table. "I have to go now. Remember your promise. Goodbye."

Lia tried to stop him but this time he ignored her cry. He walked out of the cafe and turned left, heading toward his car. He took out his phone and checked.

Unfortunately no update from her.

He sighed. Was she so busy until she forgot to update her Instagram?

Should he call her to ask?

"Harry, wait!"

He almost fell down when someone hugged him from behind.

"Please don't leave me. I've regretted so much. Please don't leave me~"

She ignored the look from other people. She was scared he would do what he said, forgetting about her completely.

"Please don't leave me."

He sighed, closing his eyes. He tried to control his temper. Everyone thought he never got angry. He never showed any temper in front of others but today, his mood was bad. Remembering what happened, it was hard for him to look at her like he used to. She was the one forgetting about their promise but now acting like he was the bad person in their relationship.

"Stop it, Lia. Don't you feel ashamed when people looking at you? Remember your status."

She shook her head. She did not care what others think. She just wanted him back.

"Lia."

"No. I will not let you go until you agree to accept me back."

Harry's face darkened seeing so many people watching them and whispering. Some even, without even hiding, recording them via mobile phone while chuckling and giggling.

This is unacceptable!

Without thinking he pulled her toward his car. Better they talked someone else, away from public eyes. He could not let people taking pictures or videos of him. He was just starting to become a model and he did not want his name in the public for the wrong reason!

He pushed her into the car and got into the driver's side. Without waiting for her to finish pulling on the seat belt, he hit the accelerator hard.

"Ahh..."

Ignoring her cry, he increased the speed.

She looked at him in horror. Why was he behaving weirdly? He was scaring her!

He finally stopped the car. It was a public garden. Because of the time and weather, there were a lot of people there but Harry had no plan to enjoy the scenery. He just wanted to finish this matter quickly. Over and done. No need to talk about this again.

No more.

"Now talk. Stop crying. If you still want to cry, just get out. I'll call a cab for you." He was firm. His eyes were cold.

She sniffed. She was scared of this Harry. Where was her adorable and cool Harry? The kind-hearted and patience Harry?

"Lia?"

She opened her mouth but quickly shut it back.

He cocked an eyebrow. His heart did not even stir seeing her wet face. In fact, he was getting impatient!

"Lia?"

"Why can't we be together back? We were so happy together?" she cried.

"Why should we be back together?"

"Because we were good together. We were happy together!"

He shook his head. Her reasons were so flimsy and weak. He could not accept them. She did not even mention the 'love' word. If she did use the word, he might think about this more.

"I'm sorry. I don't think we're good together."

Her eyes widened.

"I'll send you home. Where do you live?" he started back the engine.

"Aren't you... going to think about this? Why can't we be back together? Do you have a girlfriend?" she choked out with fresh tears wetting her face.

"I no longer have a feeling on you. It is as easy as that."

"But... but... but you don't have a girlfriend~"

"I can still live happily without a girlfriend," he replied without looking at her. He focussed on driving into the main road, heading toward her home, if she still lived there.

"How could you be so mean?"

"Why don't you ask yourself how you treated me last time and compare it to now? I think I make it clear. We are through."

He no longer had the mood to answer after that. He kept quiet despite of her cry and wail. He kept focussing on his driving until finally, they arrived in front of her house.

"We have arrived. Go home," he unlocked the door and looked at her coldly.

"But... but... Harry~"

"I have another appointment, Lia. Get out."

She looked at him sadly, hoping he would change his mind. However, he simply cocked an eyebrow, tapping his fingers against the steering impatiently. She lowered her head and finally got out of the car. She opened her mouth, still wanting to persuade him, but he drove the car away.

More tears rolling down.

"Harry~"
