Chapter 68 - Their lunch date

Jeremy did not let go of Ryn's hand even though they were in the elevator to the fifth floor and even when they were getting closer to the restaurant. Maybe she could sense his feeling, she did not even attempt to pull her hand back. She just let him hold her all the way.

"I've booked a table for two under the name Jeremy," he told the man waiting at the door, still holding Ryn's hand closely.

"Please follow me," the man said after he closed a file. Then, he walked slowly toward an empty table near the window but still separated from the others.

Instead of letting the man pulling the chair for her, Jere my glared at the poor man and pulled the chair himself. He took the chance to touch her arm before he walked to his seat.

Ryn, who was oblivious with the eyes action, simply took the napkin to fold and placed on her laps.

Another woman came and introduced herself as Helen, a waitress to wait for them. She handed the menu to them and waited, smiling.

"I would like sirloin steaks with extra gravy." Ryn flipped the pages quickly, "Make it two. Also watermelon juice."

"No salad, love?" Jeremy chuckled. It must be under her unconscious mind to avoid anything green after years of being fed 'healthy food'.

"Is this a lame joke, J?"

"Hey, I'm just joking. Don't take it seriously." He stroked her hands to cool her down. It was fun teasing her about her dislike of anything green for food. In fact, he did not mind to finish off anything she did not want. That was what a husband does for his beloved wife, right?

Helen maintained her professional smile even though she was desperate to take out her phone. She wanted to take pictures and recorded these two to upload to her media social account. Imagine how many people would like and comment on her post.

She would become famous for leaking their 'secret date'!!!

Then, she sobered. It was hard for her to get this job and the manager always emphasized on how this restaurant boosted on taking care of the customers' privacy. Customers did not have to be worried when they came dining here. Hence the reason why many VIPs chose to have their meals here.

She almost slumped her shoulders in defeated but she managed to control herself. She put on her professional face, waiting for the couple to finish ordering their meal.

She went to submit the order, leaning her back against the wall. Her eyes could not help from looking at the couple. She sighed a bit.

"You're still new so you still are not used with this, aren't you?" Anabella, her colleague commented.

Helen could only smile.

"You'll get used to it." Anabelle patted her shoulder and went to take the plates of food for the customer and send them to their table.

Helen sighed and waited for more.

Jeremy took the chance of waiting by taking photos of Ryn. He checked them and smiled happily. Every photo of her was perfect. She was so beautiful in all of them. He had no idea which one he should post in his media social.

"How long are you going to be here?" she asked but her focus was on the outside, looking out of the glass window.

The napkin was placed on the table, near the glass of water.

"Until you're done with your work," he replied simply.

"Aren't you neglecting your work?" she finally looked at him, cocking an eyebrow.

"Isn't Mika taking care of them now?" he replied back, smiling widely.

"Aren't you giving a bad influence on her? She is busy with her own work and you dump your burden on her."

"Has she been complaining at you?"

She paused. Mika did complain at her rather sadly and asking her to tell Jeremy to return so Mika could accompany Ryn instead. For Ryn, it did not matter who was with her as none of the siblings disturb her from doing her job. So far, none of the crew and even her employers complain about them accompanying her.

"She's afraid to complain straight to me?" now it was Jeremy's time to cock an eyebrow. He crossed his arms and waited.

"Regardless, I don't think it is good to dump everything to Mika." She almost said it weakly, knowing she had no valid excuse to make him change his mind.

Sorry, Mika. I have tried my best.

The waiter finally came back bringing their food. Jeremy stood up and helped Ryn placing the napkin on her laps. Then he returned to his seat and put the napkin on his laps.

Although she was not in the same social-economic status as him, she knew how to eat in a proper way. She trained herself to be able to do this as sometimes her job required her having a meal with her employers.

"Let me cut it for you," he took her steak and did just that. Then he placed the plate right in front of him.

"After this do you want to rest or want to go somewhere?" he asked in between eating.

"Sleep." She would always go back to the hotel room to sleep after the end of assignments if she did not need to take the flight home or had to follow the crews of they wanted to eat out. But mostly she would go back to sleep.

Sleep was more important than anything else.

It took them half an hour to finish their meal. Jeremy did try to make the meal more exciting by chatting about things happening. He tried to make her laugh and she did, few times. It gave him huge satisfaction just to see her so happy.

But he knew she could not wait to return to catch her sleep.

However, they had to change their plan when she received a call.

"Are you sure?" he asked when he saw how reluctant she was.

She took a deep breath and blew it out slowly. "I just need coffee."

They stopped at a nearby coffee café to buy her the caffeine she needed. He also bought some muffins just in case she needed some energy or something to chew. Then he sent her to the boutique for a fitting.

He did not follow her inside. He simply sat in the car, waiting. It would be full of people in the boutique, and with the timing so hectic, people would be running around.

No, thanks.

He would rather stay in the car, checking his media social and also check in the work back home, especially on Mika's side, just in case that silly sister of his made a mistake.

So far, the meetings went well. Mika managed to do her job perfectly. Even though there were some questions Mika asked regarding the projects before she could sign the documents but overall he was satisfied with his little sister.

Hmm… maybe he could give her two days off as a reward for her hard work.
