Jeremy pulled the chair for Ryn almost automatically. He took the napkin before he let Ryn sat on it.
"You lost?" He whispered to her ear.
"No. I have to wait to use it," Ryn replied before she turned to smile at the fuming Jennifer.
"This is Catherine, my girlfriend and assistant," Jeremy introduced. He deliberately introduced Ryn as first his girlfriend, then as his assistant. He did not want any problem to arise later. And if this Ms Ho has any feeling toward him, this would put a stop to it.
"Ah... girl... girlfriend?" Jennifer stuttered. She failed to cover her shock. She cleared her throat to cover it immediately once she noticed it. She put a calm smile on her face and cocked an eyebrow.
"Yes."
Ryn felt tired all of a sudden. Couldn't Jeremy feel the awkwardness in the room? She could not muster even a word to put in the conversation even though she wanted to end this awkwardness.
Jeremy, do something!
