The food arrived and both stopped to allow the manager to arrange their food. They thanked the manager and waited until they were left alone before they reached for the knife and fork.
"Are you sure you don't need any help?" he asked in between chewing. He could not help himself.
"No need to trouble you. Everything is going well for me," she replied absentmindedly. Her focus was on the steaks as she devoured each slice happily.
He stopped trying to talk with her when he noticed she could no longer stay focused on the conversation. He sighed and drank his beer to soothe his hurt.
She dabbed her lips with the napkin and sipped her beer happily. The steaks were delicious like she thought they would be. Even if the owner decided to increase the price, she felt it was worth the price and the time.
"Bill please," she called the waiter before he could. "This is my treat so don't try to grab it from me."
