Chapter 2 - Apparently time travel is a thing

I could feel nothing nor could I see anything but I know I defeated God, I could see it with the final moments before my consciousness faded.

I could feel hands grabbing me from an azure depth, pain surged into my mind as I could see the back body. My mortal soul was being dragged down the depths, I don't want to die after all this I was fighting it in any way I could but nothing worked as I was being dragged down further. I could hear divine hymns being sung by female voices deep down. Fighting the pain my descent downwards slowed but the voices became clearer as I could hear one distinct voice whispering along the hymns "you can't escape, you are all alone and no pride nor will, will escape my grasp. What is weak will die as and when they do I gain one more mortal to embrace, even if you break free I will be there at your weakest, grabbing your soul no matter in what world you are in."

How can I be weak? I have just defeated the God of this world, yet I am sinking like a stone. I want to fight it but I am too weak to fight, maybe if I had saved challengers instead of killing them without mercy I would not have been alone. Why do I fight? I have already been gone a decade why not forevermore?

As those thought emerged, pictures of old friends surfaced, those that died fighting in this game and those in my old world and with it those, a will, a will to talk with my friends once more. With the will, strength began surging like a raging tide as I began the struggle against the azure depth, slowly starting to surface from it. The voices started becoming more and more violent, their voices saying no one will escape the void king as his will is law. As I escaped their grasp, I started to see myself yet again but now I was entering the empty shell that is my body. The pain was fading with the voices as my consciousness came back and I could open my eyes yet again.

Looking around I was in a barren land surrounded by a broken mountain and a rotting corpse of a praying mantis, chuckling I thought that it seems like not even a God escaped the circle of life and death. I opened the menu to finally log out but on the interface I could only see one word [offline] what??? How am I even moving if I am not even connected, confusion raged around in her mind but nothing she could think of explained it. Looking away from the weird interface I looked up and I could see a gate in front of me. It was a huge gate, it had glyphs engraved. A friendly light was emitted by it, welcoming me like the voices singing in the azure depth. Doubt was in my mind but there was too much going on, why could I not log out? Who is the demon king? What does he want me to begin with?

In the confusion I took a leap of faith and slowly walked into the friendly light. When I walked in the light surrounded my body as it gave a warm feeling, my wounds were healing at a visible rate and not even known top tier healing magic could do that.

I kept walking for what felt like minutes and yet I was still surrounded by this white light, I was starting to wonder if my leap of faith would kill me in the end but before I knew it I could see a green field, a forest to the left of me and besides me was a lake. Everything seemed to be full of life unlike the battlefield she just left behind where life was null.

I opened up my status screen to see if it was still possible and what I saw surprised me.

Name: Janna

Title: Time traveller

Race: High elf

Level: 1 0/100 to next level

Strength: 5

Vitality: 4

Agility: 15

Intelligence: 10

Wisdom: 8

So I travelled in time and my stats all basically reset???... All my hard earned stats... Gone with the passage of time... I had heard if you didn't practice a stat or gain exp for a long time it would deteriorate but I never knew it could go down to its base, well I guess it would depending on the passage of time. I got curious about how much time had passed but there was no way for me to find out so I decided to look in my inventory, these 2 functions still seemed to be effected by me being [offline] since it was personal and required no outside connection.

In my very messy and unorganized inventory I took out clothing that did not make it feel like it would devour me, my current equipment was way beyond my level and the side effect of wearing equipment over ones level was often death because the developers are evil. The clothing I took out was not very fancy and it offered little protection and the weapon I took out was basically a stick with a pointy piece of iron stuck at the end of the shaft.

Lastly I took out a piece of blue paper that was formed like a butterfly, the item name was [home pointer]. She was unsure if it would work and if her little shack still stood tall like in the past. Luckily the butterfly began flying in a direction along the lake, showing her the way.

Along the way I could not get any of the past events out of my mind, who was the void king? And why would someone want my soul? All I want to do is living a peaceful life without too many troubles. But as those thoughts crossed my mind, I heard a growl in front of me, waking me up. Apparently I walked into a stray dog, or wolf I am unsure as it was some time ago I have seen one but it did not the away the fact of it wanting to kill me still remained. Although my stats and level was at its lowest killing a lone wolf should not be much of a problem as I pointed my pointy stick towards the wolf.

We started at each other, both waiting for a sign of fear of weakness but neither of us showed any as I had no fear for a small wolf and the wolf had no fear towards a little girl. Growing visibly annoyed of the lack of fear or weakness the wolf pounced. I can't challenge the wolf in terms of strength of the pounce, I decided to quickly pull back by 2 steps in the last second while using the tip of the spear to thrust it into the wolf's open mouth. The wolf did not expect it and swallowed it whole as the tip went deep into its mouth and sticking to the back of it, killing it in the process.

Although I took 2 steps back it was not enough as the momentum of the now dead wolf continued forward making me fall on my back with the body on top. I struggled a little to get out and when I got up I checked my level.

level: 1 10/100

The wolf gave me 10% of the experience, not bad. Levels where usually hard to level up and they didn't actually mean much since stats was everything and that was leveled up with repeated use of the stat, a dead wolf wouldn't give any of those.

I quickly skinned the wolf as that was my habit to do so there is no wasted materials. Not longe a father I continued following the butterfly that had stagnated to wait for me but it began flying again when I began moving towards it.

I began encountering more and more wolfs but they were of no use but materials and exp as I had now collected 10 pelt and was now level 2, giving me nothing for it was only 1 level. Although my strength had increased by 1 so it was not at 6 and my vitality increased by 1 so it was on 5. The strength was probably from defeating the wolf's and the increase in vitality was from the constant walking and fighting a little now and then. Vitality and strength often improved while using muscles and for a long period so they walked hand in hand. Intelligence and wisdom often increased from reading books and experiencing failure related to magic. Agility often increased from being flexible and being able to move the body most could not do without training.
