Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Don't second guess yourself

Having pushed back her 12:30-14:00 Studio work short to go to her hairstylist to have her hair color changed, it is already 14:15 when Sarah leaves the Studio to meet with Robert to have them publicly break up their fake relationship. Looking at her cell phone to get the exact time, she discovers Henry's text message saying:

What kind of suit would you say suits me? No pun intended.

Smiling at the text, Sarah is unaware that a paparazzi across the street in an old Beatle is already taking photos of her.

Empowered by her new improved hairstyle Sarah starts searching after possible suggestions of suits for her soldier while walking to the cafe her date with her fake boyfriend is supposed to take place.

Checking all well-known labels, she comes up empty, because not one of the suits seems to be his style.

-Should I suggest that he wears his uniform?- She thinks when going into the cafe looking for Robert. Not being able to spot him Sarah sits down at the bar, ordered a cocktail and continues to search after a suit for her soldier.

Seeing an elderly gentleman walk to a set table with his wife, Sarah is remembered of her father in a suit.

-Who made dads suit back then?- She thinks when given her drink. Seeing that the cafe is slowly but steadily filling with people, Sarah moves away from the bar and sits down at a nice table near the wide-open windows.

-Perfect for the paparazzi to take a photo of our breakup.- She thinks, finally remembering her father's suitmaker. It was handmade by James Tailor, because like Henry regular suites didn't fit his style.

-Man made for luxury.- She comments to herself, finding old James Tailors shop still in business, but only with an appointment.

-Fuck it. The man needs a suit.- Sarah thinks to herself, dialing old Tailors business number.

''James Tailor speaking. How may I be of service?'' Hears Sarah the now aged voice of the tailor, awakening long lost memories of her father.

''Hello?!'' She hears James Tailor ask in an annoyed voice.

''Hello Mr. Tailor. Sarah James speaking. My father bought a suit some years back and now a friend of mine is in dire need of a good one...'' She wants to explain to him but ends up being interrupted by the tailor.

The man audible shaken by her call asks very emotionally asks: ''Harry James little girl? Little Sarah?''

''You remember my father?'' Disbelieving Sarah asks James Tailor.

''How couldn't I he is my cousin by marriage. Who is the old bandit?''

''He died in Vietnam.''

''Oh. My sincerest condolences. That explains why he never came to get his suit...'' James Tailor tells her before asking. ''... Now, how may I help my cousins daughter?''

Looking out of the window while talking to old Tailor, Sarah can easily make out her co-star and soon to be public ex-boyfriend, Robert dance across the street.

''Oh. I have to make this quick. A friend of mine Henry King needs a suit and I thought he could get his from you. I thought a navy blue one would suit him well. Could you help me? Ahm I mean him?''

''Yes, I can. Just sent him over.''

''Thanks, bye.''

''Bye girl and don't be a stranger. We are still family.'' Sarah hears old Tailor say, just when Robert sits down next to her with a coffee.

''Your mom?'' Richard asks while Sarah is ending her call and stuffing her cellphone in her handbag.

''No. Just a call to help out a friend.'' She tells him with a throwaway gesture, sending Henry the address of James workshop.

''Male?'' Asks Robert with a jealous gleam in his eyes, to which Sarah is oblivious to and only interprets as good acting. Looking directly at Robert, who is universally hailed as good looking and handsome with is light blond hair. Sarah is neither intrigued or interested in him in any way beyond a shaky friendship. Mentally comparing him to her soldier the movie star comes up short.

Immersed in her thoughts and totally overlooking the raw emotions slumbering in Roberts question she answers him: ''Yes. Got a problem with that?''

''Must be some friend to make our Bell be his secretary!'' Robert tells her with an accusing undertone.

To draw out the moment Sarah drinks the remains of her cocktail before saying: ''Got a problem with that?''

Totally exploding Richard throws a box on the table, shouting at her: ''Do I have a problem with that? Do I have to?! I was about to propose to my girlfriend here today only to find her call a tailor to go get another man a suit! Tell me do I have a problem?''

Hearing Richard talks about marriage, Sarah is instantly taken aback by the raw unactable emotions in his eyes, thinking: -Wow that totally went off script. Weren't we support to fight and split up because of work? Does he think our relationship was anything more than an obligation to the movie studios?-

Trying to get them back on a script she tells him with her best movie star smile. ''All of this is a bit sudden. Let's first calm down and talk a bit.''

Becoming, even more, enraged her fake ex-boyfriend with pleading in his voice asks her: ''Don't you at least own me an answer?''

Now totally unable to further act her part she tells him: ''I have to go to the toilet!''

Running away from her fake boyfriend, Sarah seeks refuge in a toilet stall to text Henry for advice.

-Was my decision to break up with him the right thing to do?-

________

While Sarah is trying her best to avoid a career-ruining scandal. I only get her first text message via the system with the address of a tailor and the recommendation to get a navy blue one. Changing my destination from the town hall to the tailor I drive down the main street.

-What a jokester... Recommending navy blue to a Ranger.- I think to myself driving my motorcycle to the address instead of the town hall.

Reaching the workshops parking lot I turn of the motor and follow the address to a residential building, devoid of any indication of a tailor shop. Checking the address again and looking at the doorbell signs, I find the name of the supposed Tailor. -James Tailor.-

Ringing the bell, the door opener rings and I am given entry to the building. Using the elevator I swiftly reach Tailor's floor and find a well dressed elderly brit in the doorway of a resident.

''James Tailor?'' I ask and the man while nodding ushers me into the resident. Locking the door behind him James asks me with a fluent American English accent. ''You must be little Sarah's friend or was it a boyfriend? Well, either way, you are in need of a suit. Want some tea while I take your measurements?''

''That wouldn't be necessary, but thanks anyway,'' I tell the man remembering the tea another Brit had given me on a joined covered operation. -Sugar and milk are not supposed to be drunken together.-

''Well spoken and mannered. I hope you make our Sarah a good husband one day.'' Tailor tells me slightly slipping into British English.

Trying to shorten the impending awkward silence, I look around the resident that by fare isn't used as a private resident. All kinds of fabrics and tools for tailoring suites is on display all around the room, neatly stashed or arranged on every available surface.

''It is strange and kind of odd to meet a bit here. Even more so a tailoring one.'' I finally tell him when he is about to take my measurements.

''Ah, well that is a story for another time. Please undress now. Pants down and keep on your underwear.'' The tailor tells me good-natured and jokingly.

While undressing I get Sarah's second message asking for advice again via the system.

''What can I tell the woman I am developing feelings for other than to not guess herself? When I was still having my command I never guessed my self or my decisions. One always has to follow the rule to not second guess one's self in the position of power. Be it combat or life one can never go back in time.''
