Bast looked bewildered as she scanned her surroundings. I could easily guess her thought process right now. Given the time Ra and his forms bought her, she should have reached far from here by now.
But unfortunately for her, so long as she stays within the vicinity of the Blood World, even the way she breathes is under my control, let alone teleporting her back to our battlefield.
When she recovered from her shock, Bast started struggling and intended to slip from my grasp. But my hand firmly clasped her throat as I looked at the nearby Aten.
"So, Aten," my voice echoed, "I don't need to tell you what will happen to your daughter if you continue to resist..."
"Leave her out of this, you monster!" Aten shouted and prepared to attack me, but simply exerting a bit more force on Bast's throat stopped him in his tracks.
He looked at his daughter's pained expression, and conflict arose in his eyes. Either he kneels and admits defeat, or Bast will have her neck snapped. In the end, Aten chose to kneel!
"I beg of you," he said with a lowered head when his knees hit the ground, "you can do anything to me, but let her go."
"Very well," I tossed Bast to his side with a smirk on my lips. The sight of him pleading and begging caused joy to bloom in my heart, even to the extent of laughing out loud.
Then, the idea hit me, why don't I make him suffer a bit more? Maybe releasing Bast was not the best move, but no worries, it doesn't matter much.
"Sorry, Aten. But I decided to end your daughter's life as punishment for your hesitation," I said while laughing. I raised my sword and pointed it at Bast.
As if reacting to my actions, Bast rose in the air, completely paralyzed, and started approaching slowly towards the tip of the Pangu sword.
"No!" Aten rose up but...
"Stay right where you are!" I commanded, and the pressure from the Blood World came down on him. Soon, sounds of cracks could be heard as the bones in his body started to break.
Just when the tip of the sword was a few inches from stabbing Bast...
...
Aten looked at Set and saw that the light in his eyes dimmed. That was quickly followed with him closing his eyes and seemed to be in pain.
He could feel that the pressure from the Blood World eased a lot, and now he was able to move.
There was not enough time left before Bast would die, so he exploded with his maximum speed and formulated his plan as he ran.
...
It took me longer than expected to wake up and subdue Set's soul with the help of Nephthys' enchantment. I could already feel that I won't be able to use it again in the future.
Set has to be dealt with once and for all.
I knew that Bast was on the verge of death, but I, Orion, already know that Bast will remain alive. As my eyelids were opening, I wondered about what will happen to save her life.
But when my eyes were fully open, I got my answer.
There he was, looking extremely similar to his father, Richard, in his younger form. Our eyes locked as blood started pouring from his mouth and his wound.
Pangu didn't pierce Bast, it ran though Aten, or Ra, instead. I didn't dare pull the sword from his body and held his body. I didn't talk to him, but looked at the shocked Bast and said, "Meet me in Isle of Prisons, thousands years from now. I hope you won't kill me as soon as you see me. Now go, quickly!"
With the pleading eyes of Ra, Bast dashed away from this place, and I knew the next time she would see me would be at the day I see her in her cat form on that flat island.
My eyes returned back to Ra. He put a weak smile and said with a stutter, "Do.. not bla-blame your...self, F-f-father. It-t was... bound to... h-happen."
With that, his face was suddenly still as the remaining traces of life left his body.
I sighed in sadness. Never have I thought that I would be the one to kill Richard's son, it's a wonder he doesn't hate me. And with Richard's insight, I know very well that he becomes aware of what will happen next.
I used my fingers to close Ra's lifeless eyes and laid him on his back. Then, I crossed his arms in a shape of an 'x' according to the Egyptian ways.
With another sigh, I rose up and dispelled the Blood World. Right when I wondered what would happen next, I heard the sound of a gate opening.
I turned around and saw a majestic scene. Two gigantic golden doors of a gate were opened. The insides were filled with some sort of dark green energy.
I now know what should happen next. With slow steps, I stepped into the green energy.
I entered the Gate of Time.
