Chapter 65 - Orcus, the Lord of Death

"When I returned back in time to when there wasn't any human being yet, and when I just accepted my new powers, I found out that my body couldn't be contain that much power. The power was too great because there were all the elements in there.

"I was forced to create other bodies and split them into several clones, each clone hosting an element. When I was able to finally control that power, I refused with my clones.

"However, two of my clones developed their own consciousness, which made me unable to fuse with them. Can you guess which elements they cultivated?"

"Ice I presume? As for the other, I don't know," I replied.

"Yes, one of them cultivated the Ice element, while the other clone cultivated the Edicts of Death. The ice clone inherited my evil personality, while the death clone inherited my ruthlessness."

"And I suppose that's the reason that bastard called me 'Evil'."

"Yes. I had to kill them, or else I wouldn't have my full power. I began with the ice clone, and it wasn't hard to terminate him. I re-absorbed him into my body and went to kill the death clone.

"However, he escaped, and I couldn't find any trace of him in the whole chaos-verse."

"If you absorbed the ice clone, how did I come to be?"

"Apparently, part of the ice clone was split and found its way into the underworld to be reincarnated. Originally, reincarnation was just a myth, but you proved otherwise. To be honest, I didn't know you existed until the day you turned fifteen years old, and that was by accident."

"I see. What about the death clone? What happened to it after it escaped?"

"I think he escaped to the depths of the underworld, and used some method to hide himself from me. Millions of years later, he appeared again. I take it you are familiar with the tale of the Deathly Hallows?"

"Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, yes."

"Yes, the 'Death' in that tale is him. He was baking a plan all these years and when he finally was ready, he lured the three brothers into the underworld and 'gifted' them three items. In the hands of mortal wizards, they wouldn't do much, and would be considered slightly more powerful than normal weapons.

"However, in the hands of a cultivator, and a powerful one at that, their power would be sky-high. Immediately after he gifted those items to the brothers, the clone revealed itself under the name Orcus, the Latin word for death.

" 'Ladies and gentlemen of the Chaos-verse, I am Orcus, the Lord of Death. I have decided to send out powerful treasures into the world. The first one is a wand made out of elder wood. It contains all my comprehension of the Edicts of Death. The second treasure is a stone taken from the branches of the World Tree itself; in other words, it is the Edicts of Death put in a stone, and don't get it wrong, this isn't my comprehension, it is the REAL Edicts. The third and last treasure is a cloak of invisibility; once you put it on, no one will be able to find you, no one!

" 'So, anyone who gets one of these treasures will become very powerful. I won't say where they are, you have to search for them by yourselves. Let the search officially begin at this instant. Good luck! HAHAHAHHAA...' Those were the exact words he said back then."

"He was the Lord of Death?" I asked.

Richard nodded his head and said, "Yes, although I think Orcus used a method to force Yggdrasil to make him the Lord."

"Is that even possible?"

"Many things are possible in this world."

"So what happened next?"

"The Great War that you kept hearing about began, about a thousand years ago. The three main contesters were Odin, Thrym (ruler of the frost giants), and Utgard-Loki (ruler of the Utgard). However, the two giants couldn't compare to Odin and his Asgard. In that war, almost all the giants were wiped out, and very few remained. The ones who survived got help from Tyr, the Nordic god of war, to escape back to Jotunheim.

"Tyr sealed the realm and hid the tower of the Bifrost in the-"

"In the realm between realms, I have played God of War," I interrupted.

Richard didn't seem surprised that I did and continued, "After the losses reached a high level, I finally intervened and ended the war. I took the two of the relics and hid them around on Earth. As for the the third one, the Cloak of Invisibility, it became an ancestral treasure and was given to a worthy person of each generation until it reached the hands of Harry Potter.

"As for Orcus, I forced Odin to help me seal him. He wasn't the only one who I forced. At that time, Zues was in the Jupiter form, and I recruited him too. The only other two that wanted to help me willing were the Dragon King, and... My mother."

"Your mother? Why? Did she know who you were?"

Richard looked uncertain as he said, "I think so, why else would she help. Furthermore, she was friendly with me."

He looked like he didn't want to talk about it as I can imagine meeting his mother before he was even born would be awkward. I changed the subject by saying, "Why did you want to seal him? Why not kill him?"

"The thought crossed my mind, but he developed an even independent personality, and I couldn't even get near him, let alone kill him. So the other method was to seal him.

"However, it was harder than we thought. Odin being Odin, he was the one most further away from the place of the seal, so he was only slightly injured. As for Jupiter, he barely got away with his life. The Dragon King was injured badly, but nothing was too serious. As for Mom and I, we are both Lords of Chaos , so we weren't harmed at all."

"Did you see her after that?"

Richard sighed and shook his head regretfully, "No. She just gave me a hug and disappeared. That was the first and last time I saw her..."

I changed the topic again and asked, "What about the Red Lotus? You know more than you told me back then."

"True. I suspect that every member of the organization is, in fact, a clone of Orcus, like Emperor Sun and his followers. That's why I couldn't get near him. That's why I couldn't save Tulip..."
