Chapter 29 - Bloodbath - Blood Snake

We continued our way to the central part of Mount Evergreen. Every once in a while, a beast would attack us. Some were powerful, while some were weak.

While we collected the crystals, we found that one was white, which Pangu referred as the indication of the first stage, which was divided into nine levels.

Tulip and I shared the crystals, she had the most of our hunt. The laws that the beasts studied benefited my law greatly. It was now more solid than ever, though little change happened.

On this day, the snow was falling. I didn't mind the cold, since my body is technically made of ice. Tulip seemed to mind, flames lit on her hands. Her long beautiful red hair was covered in snow, which only increased from her beauty.

I suddenly stopped at the spot. Tulip looked back at me and said, "What is it?"

"Don't you find it strange?" I replied, "We have been marching for days, yet the most powerful beasts we encountered were of the peak third divinity stage. There was no beast in the sovereign stage."

"Yeah, it is fishy," said Pangu, "However, keep your guard high, and your senses at full range."

We took his advice and I changed the wand into a sword. I spread my divine sense, but found nothing. There were two explanations to this, either there were no one, or there was a beast more powerful than us.

We marched calmly through the woods, trying to make the less sound possible. Suddenly, Tulip screamed.

There between the trees, a giant, green scaled serpent stood while eying us. Its oval red eyes fixed on me for a while, then on Tulip.

"Don't move," whispered Pangu, "This is a baby giant wood serpent. These kind of serpents are born at the sovereign stage. They are deaf, and their eye sight isn't great either. It solely depends on its sovereign sense."

"Do you know its weak spot?" I asked in a very low voice.

"No. If you can retreat slowly without making any noise, it would be great."

Of course, I didn't take his advice this time. Blood raged through my veins, and I walked slowly towards the serpent while I motioned to Tulip to step back.

"Oh no. No no no no. You are crazy, step back, or you'll die. This a sovereign, you dumb, you don't stand a chance," screamed Pangu.

I know what you are going to say, 'You are too stupid, Orion. How can you attack a beast more powerful than you?' Yes my dear readers, I must admit that my actions were stupid and without thinking. But my instincts took over me.

The baby serpent seemed to notice me, since it slithered slowly towards me in a strange way. My steps speed started to increase, as did the serpent.

Once we were close to each other, I clashed my sword on its scaled body, and it bared its fangs. The wound looked only like a slash, not hurting it at all, while its poisoned fangs bit my skin and the poison entered my body.

I spit a mouthful of blood. The natural energy inside my body was battling with the poison, while on the outside, my sword continued to slash through the scales of the serpent.

Finally, I managed to get the blood out of the wood serpent, though it was only a few drops. Unfortunately, the poison have won the battle inside my body. I struggled to stay awake, while the snake prepared to bit its fangs one more time, it was its final strike.

I don't know if it was the poison's effects, but I focused on the droplets of blood that was flowing out of the serpent's body. I saw it moving and slithering, like it was a real snake.

I haven't realized that I was the one that was slithering, and I was making hand movements, while the blood drops also moved with me.

Instantly, a blood-red snake appeared, equal to the actual wood serpent. 'Bloodbath - Blood Snake' was born.

The blood snake stuck its fangs into the wood serpent. The latter screamed with agony, and then it crumbled to dust, while leaving a river of blood. The river moved towards me, and entered my body.

A violet crystal dropped on the ground, signaling that the giant wood serpent was dead.

Unfortunately, the poison that was still inside of my body overpowered me. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I just fell on the ground and fainted.
