Chapter 1 - Prologue

The stormy weather brought with it a thunderous echo that drowned out the insistent wailings of a baby wrapped in an unidentifiable cloth. The baby floated down a river, murky from radioactive waste materials. Surprisingly, the baby had not died by the harmful toxins which seemed to form a mist around it.

Gradually, its cry stopped as the current lulled it to an eternal sleep before…ZAP a thread of lightning struck the child just when its soul was about to exit its body. The heavenly lightning was so powerful that it evaporated half the river after passing through the baby's fragile body. The half dead baby wasn't harmed but, seemingly rejuvenated by the lightning and started crying once more, this time with even greater vigor. The river current carried the unharmed baby on its way to the oceans.

On an uncharted island surrounded by a gigantic storm wall in the Bermuda triangle, natives who were untouched by the modern world had built up their own civilization completely different from the rest of world. On a certain night, a young couple was sitting on the sandy beach wondering about their lives.

The man said to the woman, "Aeli, I don't want to stay here forever under the thumb of my father and his rules. I want to see what's beyond 'the wall of storms'. I just know that there is more to the world than this."

The woman replied, "I know what you mean Gron. But, there is nothing we can do. Nothing can go past the walls." Just as Aeli said that, the two heard something coming past the walls.

The duo looked on wide-eyed as a baby floated towards the beach covered in nothing but a piece of cloth. Gron, seeing the infant ran towards it leaving a tongue-tied Aeli, who soon came to and followed her lover. Gron got a shock as soon as he touched the baby which almost burnt his hands. He could see tendrils of electricity flowing through the baby.

It looked about a month old and shouldn't have been able to survive the weather, the sea, the storm wall and definitely not any current which seemed to be coursing through its blood. But, miraculously it lived.

Aeli came to see Gron whose hand seemed to be smoking. She saw the baby which was glowing dimly with sparks flowing through it and felt a sense of peace which she could not explain. She bent down to pick it up when Gron shouted," Don't touch it! It might zap you."

Saying so he took off his shirt and carefully wrapped his hands with the cloth to gently pick the baby, "It's a boy" said Gron.

Aeli reached for the baby but Gron pulled him back. "We are not leaving him. I don't care what my father says. I wanted a son which you refused to give me. So, I will raise him as my own, Aeli. If you object with giving me even this small pleasure I will leave you."

Aeli was in tears, "It's not that I didn't want to give you a son, I couldn't. You know that I would have died if you had left a seed in me! This and that are very different. We will not leave this child here or send him to the castle. We will take care of him."

The man relented and gave him to the woman, "He is strong, very strong. Almost took my arm off even with my strength and he's still a baby…. At least this proves one thing."

"What?" asked Aeli while cradling the baby which was no longer pulsing with energy but quietly slumbering.

"There is land outside these walls and people living in it….powerful people"
