Chapter 4 - Lure? Trap? Mistake? or Oppurtunity

With System's help Lucas identified the Captain of the squad as Hilven Arsln, a distant nephew of the third elder. If the information is correct he is a Mage at the Forging realm. A competent person according to his grandfather, he is only at the late fifties and reached this stage with only mediocre support from family.

The Guards in City of Datura enjoyed superior quality in their weapons and armors. Among them there were even battle hardened veterans, each and everyone had their own share of experience and rookies were few.

Lucas at a slow pace walked toward Hilven.

A young soldier stopped Lucas and suspiciously looked at him and questioned.

"Halt, Who are you? Identify yourself."

In the free market of City of Datura there were plenty of nouveau riche and as long as a soldier didn't go overboard there would be no particular problems.

Lucas responded by casually showing a token indicating the status of a core member of Arsln Family.

The black lustre of the token was striking, in it a image of a Datura flower blooming from seed can be seen, bewitching and captivating, a symbol of the Arsln Family.

"A-Apologies, Sorry for disturbing." The soldier was terrified and stuttered due to fear. Family hierarchy was strict and a core member enjoyed immense status especially in City of Datura.

The young soldier inwardly cried to himself, 'Uh, How unlucky am I, if you're an Arsln please at least walk with a insignia of the Arsln Family.'

"You can go, I want to talk with your captain." Lucas was at first surprised when he saw the fear on the soldier's eyes, but he soon calmed down, further realizing the stark differences between two worlds.

The soldier dared not to stay any longer, after apologizing he hastily walked away. When Lucas took out the token Hilven naturally noted Lucas, he was confused at first since he couldn't identify Lucas, such a young core member, most people become a core member through potential talent or strength or by contribution to family. Even the son of the Patriarch will only have an inner member token if he has none of those above prerequisites.

The Token themselves were bounded with blood and resonate with the bounded bloodline of Arsln Family and cannot be faked.

Since young, Lucas only relate with only a few people and doesn't interact too much with others. So everyone knew about Lucas Arsln a renowned genius of Rune craft but many didn't know how he looked like.

Lucas's only interest were books and books. He was different, unlike others he rarely went out and only attended any banquets or parties if his grandfather or his uncle asked him.

Hilven thought in his mind. 'He does seem familiar, where have I seen him? Oh!, isn't he Lucas, I had once seen him last year. Eh! But why would he be here? Why aren't there no guards or servants with him?'

Hilven saw Lucas was walking towards him while he thought things over.

"Uncle Hilven, Good evening." Lucas greeted Hilven with a small smile

Hilven looked at him with a questioning gaze and asked. "Lucas why are you here alone at this late time. It's not a place and time for you youngsters to play around."

"Haha, Its nothing much I was just strolling around the market and didn't notice the passage of the time. Oh, I saw the fight, it was really an interesting one."

Hilven gave a one more quick look over at Lucas and immediately asked, "Interesting?, is that how you describe it? Did you notice anything?"

Lucas was glad that Hilven was not interested in his activities and so he right away said, "Five masked men surrounded a man named Fedrick and fought with him, it seemed like the man Fedrick had something they need and was chasing for it. It seemed like it to be quite a valuable treasure if they were willing to fight over here."

Hilven's eyes lit up since he wasn't actually expecting anything, the information Lucas told him was valuable, for sometime Hilven went silent. Lucas was secretly observing every change in Hilven's expression but was unable to find out anything.

Hilven once more focused his attention over to the young prodigy "Did you find any thing else?"

"Yes, I noticed two more details, First Fedrick said his beloved and brothers were murdered by the masked men or their people or their organization and Fedrick's Awakened ability is something similar to 'Traveling through the Earth'. I only got to know this through their conversation during the battle and I cannot vouch for the truth in the information."

Hilven calmly analyzed everything Lucas said.

Hilven spoke in a grim tone, "Fighting here so audaciously, Humph!! they sure have guts. I will take care of them, you got good ears, everyone nearby only heard some bit and pieces."

Hilven praised Lucas and after asking a few more questions and exchanging some pleasantry words, Lucas smoothly returned to his home via a car Hilven arranged.

Back in his room Lucas stood silently out in the courtyard. If anyone else could see Lucas at this time, they will only think of praising the picturesque scene that of a delicate youth who is enjoying the serene moonlight.

Many thoughts were flashing through his mind.

'Why were they chasing him? What did they want from him? Is it the Lunar Shell Crystal?'

Immediately Lucas shook his head.'No way, they wouldn't take the risk of offending the Arsln family and make trouble in City of Datura for a Lunar Shell Crystal. No matter how rare it is.'

'The chase have been going for a long time. That much is sure, they have deep seated hatred for each other. But there is a big problem, Fedrick surely knew this is the City of Datura, stronghold of Arsln family and if he revealed the identity of his assailants it would sure trouble them and if not get destroyed. But he made no attempt to reveal anything.'

'It is indeed a puzzling issue.'

'Is Fedrick even his real name?'

'Something is not right, Is anyone trying to distract Arsln family?'

'No if so there are better means to do something like that'

Lucas took a deep breath and calmed his surging mind. "Lets start over."

Lucas thoughts steered towards another direction.

'Why were they chasing him? Is it related with the trade? Did my identity got exposed? Is it an elaborate trap aiming at me, it was quite coincidental for the fight to come near me.'

Again Lucas shook his head, he silently looked at the bracelet and thought of the day he got his bracelet.

"Lucas this bracelet is crafted by the Great Rune Master Lubrian, it specialize in protection of illusions and control spells, it also have a basic function of cleaning any tracking spells and tracing materials. It also offer a basic protection screen for spiritual attacks. But don't depend on it for protection."

Thinking it over again Lucas's eyes narrowed, even if they found so what, they wouldn't dare to touch me. Lucas could now see many things he couldn't have seen when his memories where sealed.

His surname was Arsln, his grandfather is a Maxim Level Mage, his uncle is a Business tycoon.

Any one of these identities will make them crawl in front of him. Even the big bosses of the free market must show him due respect if he ever revealed his identity.
