Lu Ryun had finished changing and came downstairs finding Lin Xin set the dining table. Upon seeing this, his lips curled up forming a gentle smile.
"Come and eat up, I've tried my best to cook for today. Madame Yang told me all your favourites." She invited him as she saw him standing idly. Unbeknownst to her, he was simply mesmerised by her. Seeing her trying to change after 2 years of living together made his heart weak.
As soon as he took a bite of the steak, Lin Xin smiled and asked him, "How is it? Do you like it? It's my special sauce." He did not immediately answer her and took another bite. Finally, he opened his mouth and said, "It has a nostalgic taste."
Lin Xin chuckled at his response, his expression was indeed soft yet his tone was no different than usual, even so, it made her think that he can be cute too. She then told him, "Just nostalgic? That kinda hurts my dream as a cook."
As he saw her hurt expression his heart ache terribly so he continued and said, "It was a compliment. I've been longing for this kind of taste." Upon hearing him, she smiled and gestured for him to eat more, "I actually gave you more meat on purpose since Madame Yang told me that you've been eating veggies and no meat. Are you a vegetarian?"
"I prefer eating those when I had no one to dine with."
This statement of his, made Lin Xin's heart flutter. He is way too good with his words and almost capture her heart. To her, it was important to know whether someone takes notice of her, that she belongs and had become a part of that person.
"I'm sorry it took me almost 3 years to realise your charm. If I had known sooner I may have dined wih you for those years." She felt guilty not trying to get close with him for the past few years. Back then, she simply didn't care and rarely face him forwardly.
"It was not your fault. This started with political marriage after all. In fact I knew that you were still hang up over your last heartbreak...."
He stopped as soon as he realised the taboo. He was careful, however, his heart couldn't contain such emotion from flowing out. He knew about her preparing to run away from her family and that she preferred to live with the person she loved the most but when they promised to meet, he didn't show up. In the end, she no longer cared, everything she cared for completely vanished.
He looked at her stiff expression and felt a sting on his chest so cleared his throat, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have pried on that."
She shrugged and smiled as if telling him that she doesn't mind at all and she called, "Ryun."
"May I ask you a question?"
Lu Ryun nods as he was still strucked by cupid's arrow when she called his name.
"Are you the other way around?"
He was dumbfounded. By what she meant, it means that she was not sure whether or not he was a real man or not. It hurt his pride.
He stood up while Lin Xin has an unfazed expression. He placed his face in front of her almost having no room for her to breathe.
A single thought came across her as she understood his gesture. This man infront of her is indeed a man. Who said that he wasn't? They were both looking at each others eyes, making it even harder for her to breathe.
Lu Ryun knew that it was getting harder for her to breathe in, he respects her space and thus immediately stopped teasingher. He moved his face away and placed his right hand gently on her head with a smile.
She tried to get a grip of herself and said, "Honestly, I thought you were going to make a move on me." She felt relieved. Her heart wasn't ready for a change although she knew she had to fulfill her role as his wife sooner or later.
They were lucky that their elders have yet to pressure them to have a baby. Probably all due to them not being the only child in their family.
"I wish I could but I have already waited for 2 years in order for you to adjust. I can wait another 2 years if necessary."
This man in front of her is indeed a dream come true one of a kind gentleman any woman would ever want to be their husband. She now learned that one shouldn't judge a person based on rumours.
