Jill had never really told Laz her age and he had never asked. Their time together wasn't a lot after all. They had just met before being dragged into this mess that they were now in. The last time it was brought up was in the car ride when she had told the officer she was fifteen. That was a lie, but that was because she didn't know how old she was. She had been in that underground hell for a lot longer than she had let on, her body was undernourished and didn't make her look any older.
That was why the police officer that stopped them in the van didn't question her when she said what she said.
But she knew that was older than that. While it took he a while to remember, she did know her birthday. After finding out the date and the year from billboard, she realized that she had already turned 18, although it was a few days ago.
