As Alex had surmised, Mrs. Connie didn't tell anyone; she returned from the church, hastily packed a bundle, and immediately left her desolate home.
Mrs. Connie walked away from Gust Town.
At first, she was somewhat in a daze, stumbling along the way and moving very slowly. It wasn't until the sun set and the downy Nightfall spread across the sky, accompanied by the sound of rolling water near her ears, that Mrs. Connie finally lifted her head out of her reverie.
Only then did she realize that she had wandered far from Gust Town in her trance, and had now already reached the bank of the long river.
Not far ahead was the stone bridge where her son's head had been found.
Upon seeing the stone bridge, tears instantly welled up in Mrs. Connie's eyes. She hurried toward the bridge with large strides, her gaze filled with sorrow, continuously calling out Raven's name.
