To rob the dead of their physical possessions was a first time for her. Celes Falon de Lin never thought such day would come no matter how desperate her tendencies may become.
The feeling of cold, sticky body liquids disgusted the former sterile room specialist, especially at the sight of maggots. The vile stench threatened to empty her stomach and puke out the rainbows. Her fingers curled into her palms, unwilling and unable to start rummaging through the dead like it was just her teenage bedroom. 'Because this is the worst shopping ever!' she thought and yet, every time the cold chill blew, a shiver runs down her spine reminding the transmigrator of her sorry situation.
'Celes this world is nasty like this illegal dumping site! Get. Used. To. It!'
A mixture of firmness and disgust showed in her face with a pair of stern eyes and a clenched jaw before Celes started. She braved her clean hands to look through without gloves! Her exhausted soul finally feels the tiresome travel and hiccups threatened to turn into a feat of choking and puking. It was that hard. As much as possible, Celes looked for the freshest, cleanest bodies for the necessary clothes. It did not matter that they belonged to the other gender as clothes were clothes especially that she experienced life of a modern girl where it was cute to wear men's clothes. 'My previous boyfriends loved it all the time. Their favorite was when I wore their dress shirt and tried on a boxer. It was arousing and I love those hungry eyes. How--' she shook her head. "This is a new life! I can't go off track!"
As quick as possible, Celes Falon de Lin pulled a dark, royal blue outer robe intricately patterned with gold and a few gems. At the moment, she thought it was just the cleanest outer robe she could find and nothing more. Little did she know that such robe would escalate to uncalled events. Later after patiently looking, she also found a headless body that had clean inner clothing.
But first thought that came into her mind was, 'Spare the undergarments! I'll make mine!' Normally, desperate people would not mind but who was Celes? In her big name as a former power and a pampered person, no matter what the case was, the person will never, ever wear other people's underwear!
As she is pulling the inner robes, Celes could not help but notice and admire the clean-cut way of decapitation of the victim, not a single droplet of blood landed on the clothing. Too bad, the outer robe was already stained with the mass grave's liquids. She shakes her head and just wore the clothes.
Immediately after doing so, the former cultivator concentrated on her dantian core to circulate Qi around her body that would allow her to simply jump up from this deep hole to the top and leave this place. Before it was just like breathing but not a squeezed drop of Qi have flowed! Nothing beneficial happened, only a feeling of a strained innerself and weakness around her body surged!
'Ah, I see, huh?' A thin smile accompanied by eyes seething in anger surfaces. But with no responsive creature to vent frustration on, Celes takes a shortcut and closes her eyes to make a quick assessment of her current constitution. All while in an attempt to calm down her anger over a broken, beat up body.
"I see now, not only did she kill me but also made sure that my dantian has been burned out and my meridians blocked! Or so she thought! I have transmigrated and this should allow the me to have at least some saving points and that's a restored soul! Sworn sister you say, she was an evil master! That manipulating snake, just because of the contract! UGH! "
Celes shakes her head begins climbing up, whilst spouting her annoyance all together.
"Evil Master!"
"Sister, more like a snake!"
"Master? That was coercion! A threat, not a deal!"
"I swear, once I get out of this sorry hole, I am going to find you and show you who is the bigger tyrant between us!"
"Aahhhhh! Why is a stupid eyeball stuck here? I wish this is yours!"
The insults are definitely the first step to relief and success! An at least twenty feet high wall is not the easiest to overcome as the hole was deep and the roots of trees were not merely roots but infested with snakes and pieces of the body. Because of the obstacle, even Celes have long given up on cleanliness and counting, her math skills continued to lose itself from her brain cell membership to the point that the person herself could not count how many times she fell back down. Nevertheless, if this was the only was to go back up, so be it! Today was a new life!
Every time Celes Fallon de Lin fell, she thought of new plans, and the most successful one was gathering as much daggers, sticks, bones, swords, spears and short swords as possible. Considering the possibility if entertainment, playing with the weapons may as well serve her to keep the tyrant hapoy and occupied as she climbed. While doing so, she realized that carrying all those tools that her strength has transcended that of a normal low-ranked cultivator. An urge to fight some stronger beast excited the woman. As soon as the thought popped into her head, Celes have long added it to her to-do list.
Using her tools as steppings and for climbing further up as she stabbed the most stable, hardened roots, she finally left the dump site. It was already day time when the revived woman came out but she could hardly guess as the surroundings were covered with thick fog. It was a zero visibility area that the sunlight could barely reach her, the ground could only wish for a thousand years before it can taste the sun's warmth, let alone its light. The poor brightness of her surroundings was the only way.
Celes sighed. She knew where this was - the Forest of the Unforgiven. This was the grave yard fir criminals, unwanted people and unfortunate people. It sends a shiver of excitement to Celes to be in a thrilling place like this. 'I wonder if I can live here?' She once thought but soon took it back upon the reminder of endless fog. So without another thought, she whipped her hair away from her face and looked for a so-called shelter.
Even though the forest was covered in fog and trees, it was a forest filled with bodies which meant fertilizer. The healthy soil raised gigantic trees rich with pure Qi. Exactly what Celes wanted.
It was not easy to safely walk around because of the million possibilities of dangerous encounters, the muddy ground and the emptiness of a supermarket nor even a convenient store.
Celes Fallon de Lin continued to trek down the road when she found a small cave beside a huge tree but it was out in the open with nothing to cover it. The mouth of the cave showed nothing but darkness.
She halted on her steps to think, recalling her previous memories and enfirced her common sense to play. Then she arrived to a conforting conclusion. It was a theory but Celes liked the optimism of it and stuck to it. Any danger may come after the girl have made a home out of this temporary living place. 'Beasts don't like open shelters and that should be my place then.'
Despite the high-probability of her theory to be proved wrong, Celes shrugged her shoylders and entered. She remained cautious nonetheless and checked it by flicking the smallest light ball of mana she could barely form with her qi. 'Empty! Not a dropping of animal waste!'
The small cave was actually pretty wide with a deceiving small, open entrance because as soon as she entered, the ceiling rose up to at least more than twenty feet. The inside was spacious enough of at least 600 Square metres wide. She smiled in satisfaction. Her further investigation around the cave proceeded with caution and prepared weapons in her hands.
"Now I can start my new life," she told herself. Right now, her body was a young lady's so it did not matter how many years she will spend here. When Celes comes out, the woman felt sure that her look is still youthful given that in her calculations, she may stay here for at least five years to recover and train.
With the knowledge of her previous lives, it was enough to allow her to heal her meridians. After making a door and creating seals around her new found territory, Celes journeyed away in search for herbs and food in this robust forest. She marked her way as she went further.
This was the Forest of the Unforgiven which naturally made people stay away. The only way for the corpses in mass graves to come here was teleportation but if one was brave enough and has a great sense of direction, then they can. Not that it was a common occurence.
Celes had neither power nor a great sense of direction so she did not go too far. Therefore, it took more time to heal the spiritual damage. She gradually found herbs after several days and nights of search but not that she ever cared. Time was not of the essence right now.
Celes Fallon de Lin flicked her wrist to open her dimensional storage bag sealed by physical contract at the back of her left wrist. There, only her contracted cauldron built with the body of some sacred and divine beasts was left inside alongside with three other contracted things. Fortunately in some sense, only the commander-general's wealth and earthly possessions were gone. She shook her head and dismissed her misfortune for now. What use are those earthly treasures for a being like her? A beast's roar echoes with nostalgia in her ears.
Celes sat with her legs crossed on the ground and a meter tall cauldron before her. Normally, Qi was needed to refine pills. Much to Celes' luck, heavy nature Qi can be extracted from the healthy resources that this biosphere could provide and she can redirect it to substitute her own Qi though it may take longer to refine. The process to manipulate another Qi was different because it was not generated, refined and molded by her body. As for the herbs, her several days of hardwork squinting her eyes and collecting have been gathered and only needed sterilization by cleansing with her almost non-existent Qi. Celes was barely ready but the ingredients and tools have been gathered.
'I can survive here.'
Sweat dropped down the already putrid, mismatched clothes. Long, black hair were wet and matted to Celes' head. And her muscles ached from having the same position for hours. But the aspiring, former cultivator could not give up at this point! Her head felt hot but inside, it was as if
she was dipped into ice cold water. The cultivator wanna-be felt nauseated from over-exhausting her body. The blocked meridians made it even more impossible to gather enough nature Qi nor circulate!
Fortunately, laboured breaths with long periods of inhalation and exhalation served as little comfort.
However, matters were worse than pill-maker had anticipated as the irregularly huge cauldron still remained cold and unmoving as if she had not done anything for hours. Well, not that Celes did much as her herbs still laid down on her make-shift plates.
To her disappointment, she had to give up and rest or things may just turn for the worse. Celes later sat against it and ate her dinner composed of edible fruits collected with the herbs long ago. Thankfully, it gave the benefit of a banana and an avocado and some were like juicy, sweet and delicious like watermelons except for the shape and outer skin that resembled a jack fruit.
Celes took note that she should harvest more and store them in her storage dimension.
But as she was consuming dinner, a small tinge of energy felt like a warm light that enveloped her in comfort. Celes laughed to herself at the epiphany that this world have spiritual fruits! Along with refining pills, Celrs could also recover through this food and later, be strong enough to hunt at least the weakest beast for meat!
Satisfied, the lady went to sleep, unaware and uncaring about what was happening outside the Forest of the Unforgiven. In her thoughts, if she could stay here forever, then she will. But the evil miasma here carried malevolent ghosts and dangerous spiritual beasts. Her Devour roared relentlessly as it tried to break out of her leaking spiritual ocean. (JaehaJack) It was supposed to be satisfied but with a damaged Dantian and blocked meridians, it fed on her. Unluckily, this undying partner have caused some cracks and was opportunistic enough to try and squirm its way out! The condensed Qi mixed with malevolent miasma were still too tempting!
Celes' head ached and her body fell heavy on the ground. Whispering voices, screams, cries, laughter and shouting people overlapped and competed with each other. All they said challenged Celes' morals.
"Revenge. Revenge!"
"Kill, kill her! Please kill those wretched people! How dare they?!"
"I want to play with them!"
"Can I talk to them, maybe it would help?"
"Who wants to embrace them?"
"How I want to entertain them all night? Ahh men! You lustful pigs! Bow down you sluts!"
"I want to laugh with them and then kill them!"
"His buttocks is thick! It is delicious! They would like it too!"
"Betrayed me? How- how dare you? Ah, why? Mother? Father, please help me!"
"Uuuunnnnggggaaaaahhhh!"
"I will kill you and send all nine generations of your family to the sixth level of hell! Die!"
All of them continued to ran chaotic in her head. A side effect of the Devour's greed. It was no wonder Celes' mind have gone coocoo.
