It has been a whole month since I was killed in the apocalypse and given a second chance. I had finished the orders for the 500 specially colored helmets a few weeks ago, gaining 2.6 million dollars. Two weeks after that, another order came in for a shipment of 1,000 helmets, with the other coloring that he had given me, making me a nice profit of 4.8 million dollars.
During this time, I had made another 6 million from selling my products from my online store.
Also, Natalie had decided that she was going to sleep at my house instead of finding a place to live. Amy readily agreed to this, and I could guess why. They were basically best friends from the beginning, even with their difference in age being five years.
Getting things done in the house had become very tedious, I was always ambushed by one of them all the time. I had decided that it was now time to set up my fortress, mostly because I now had enough money, but also partially because I couldn't stand Natalie's and Amy's antics. For the entire time that Natalie has been staying at my house, I would frequently wake up to find her cuddled up besides me.
With $500,000, I bought the farmland which I had been thinking about buying earlier. It was around two dozen of miles outside of Bakersfield. I was taking a half hour long flight to Bakersfield and then driving over to the farm today.
Only after buying my farm did I notice that my Apocalypse System had created a new section, and it had been there for awhile.
If I went under a tags, I would see things like
I could either buy buildings directly or I could build them and I am planning on just buying them directly, because, for one, I didn't even know where to start with building a fortress. I am very lucky that I have my system, without it, I don't know what I would do to prepare.
-----------------------------------------------
Looking around at the vast fields of grass and soil, I couldn't help but sigh.
'Such a perfect place to start off. I have ample room to build, a fresh water source, and fertile land that can be farmed if needed. No wonder one of the strongest bases was built here in the past, or should I say, the future.'
Pushing these thoughts to the side, I open my Apocalypse System (AS). I had previously transferred 6 million dollars into credits for me to use to build, which left me with more than 7.4 million in the bank.
Scrolling down to
Looking up from the AP, I turned my gaze to the center of the fields. Right in the middle of them, a massive block of dirt was slowly rising from the ground.
'What is that? That isn't what the Head Quarters is supposed to look like!'
Looking back at my AP, quickly scrolled back my territory.
'I see know. So it isn't just built instantly, it takes time. That seems reasonable. If it was built instantly, that would probably be a little too over powered, even for my system. Still, the time it should take is very small.' I reasoned with myself.
Continuing on, I built 20 foot tall walls all the way around the Head Quarters, with gates on all four sides and watch towers on the corners.
To the north of the HQ, I built two power management building 100 by 100 feet, which would store and route all the power throughout the base that we would get from solar panels and generators. On top of all the roofs, I was going to put solar panels, but I had to wait for the buildings to be built first.
Next, to the south of the HQ, I built a massive two, 30 feet tall silos, with a diameter of 12 feet which could each hold more than 80 tons of grain. I also built a 50 by 50 foot large building and connected it to a water pump along the river with pipes that had a diameter of one foot. The building would filter and process the water, storing it in two massive tanks of water next to the building, each tank half the size of the building. The tanks would distribute the water throughout the base via a network of pipes.
Next, I built a simple sewage system connecting to all the buildings that I had right now. There would obviously be toilets in each building. The sewage system would dump all of its waste into the river, far downstream of the water pump, of course. It would normally take years before anyone found out about the sewage being dumped into the river, but by then, nobody would care.
Next, to the east of the HQ, I built a 40 by 60 foot building which is going to be the radio station. On the left of the building, I put a 500 foot (β 150 meters) tall radio tower. In the future, I would use this to broadcast out to everyone still alive that there was a safe haven here. It would also be used to keep in contact with other bases.
Finally, to the west of the HQ, I built a 150 by 50 foot structure with two other floors going into the ground where all sorts of vehicles would be stored. At a maximum, it could fit 1000 cars. I knew that in the future, vehicles are a must have for any survival group, and a big problem for many survival bases is that they don't have anywhere to park their cars, leading to many having to be parked outside the base.
With that, all of my credits had been spent, so I just sat back and watched the buildings grow. I noticed that when pipes were being built, they would first rise to the surface, which would take around 10 minutes because they were on a small scale. After being fully formed, they would then sink back into the ground.
Looking around, I also saw that the parts of buildings that were underground first rose up from the ground, would fully form, and then would sink back down. 'That's weird. Wouldn't they just stay in the ground? Did they have to be exposed to air to form?' While puzzling over this, I sat in a chair, which I had bought before, and waited.
---------------------------------------------
With the buildings finished, I marveled at the sight of them. It could already be described as a fortress! Walking up to the south gate, I surprisingly opened it rather easily.
'The hinges on these gate must be perfectly balanced to be able to be pushed open by a weakling like me.' I thought, testing the gate.
Continuing on, I opened the front door to the HQ, which was basically a massive mansion. As I looked in, unsurprisingly, it was completely barren. Things like home appliances weren't seen any where, though, the outline of specific parts of the house were there. For example, in the bathrooms, the things like sink, toilet, shower, and bath were there, but nothing like towels, soap, or toothbrushes.
I tested to see if the water was running yet, and unsurprisingly, it wasn't. 'The water pump hasn't even been turned on yet. Of course there wouldn't be running water.' I scolded myself.
Before I turned on the water, I first transferred a little more money from my bank into my system and bought a bunch of solar panels. I then placed them on the tops of each building, connecting them with cables, which I implanted into the walls and ground, to the power management buildings. Thus, all my buildings had power, to a limited extent.
Turning on everything else was relatively easy now that I had power. All I had to do was control it remotely through the system, turning on the water pump and filtration from the comfort of my home. I had bought a couch and some other necessities, placing them in their places.
I now had a working base. All I needed to do was sit back and watch money come rolling in, and then I would spend that money to improve my base.
With that all settled, I decided to sleep here for the night. My flight back home wasn't until tomorrow afternoon, and I am planning on going to a spa and getting a massage.
I let out a sigh, thinking about what I would return to see back at my house when I left Natalie and Amy alone for two days. "It's probably going to be chaos." I grumbled, but I pushed those worries aside. 'That's for tomorrow's Natasha to deal with.' I joked with myself.
