It had been a week since Darwin had bribed the youth to follow him and each day he found his pockets growing lighter, each day the youth would look at him expectantly and he would be forced to give up something. He had run out of simple items and had started handing him coins which seemed to always draw his attention, it was odd that someone who was so ignorant of things could somehow be attracted to wealth.
This was thoughts shared by Darwin and his people but luckily today their misery would end as they had arrived at their headquarters in the wondrous Lightning Capital.
'Thank the Gods' thought Darwin as his group made it through the gates and the lesser members of their League gathered in expectation but found nothing of note except a youth following Darwin who was playing with a coin chewing on it of all things.
"Darwin, it is good to see you have returned safely. How was the trip to the Dark Continent" asked a pleasant looking woman in a dazzling light armor.
"There was a gain but there were many losses" lamented the otherwise serious man thinking of his poor ring that was running bare compared to what he was used to.
"How many died" asked the woman taking a serious look.
"None of our people were harmed thankfully, the losses taken were by me" stated Darwin casting a look to the youth who was no longer interested in the coin instead looking at the armor the woman wore.
"Mine" asked the youth.
"No...." answered Darwin as since entering the city he had been asked this constantly.
"I need to see the Master immediately" continued Darwin while the youth looked down disappointed.
"Of course, he is waiting for you. Shall I lead the way" asked the Woman
"If you would be so kind Angelica" smiled Darwin
"So are you going to tell me about your little tag a long" asked Angelica casting a glance towards the youth who was staring at her.
"This is our gain and the cause of my losses" lamented Darwin causing Angelica to chuckled as she leaned down to pat the youth's head causing him to look excited.
However seeing that there was nothing in the hand he just glared causing her to pause and look towards Darwin awkwardly.
"He likes shiny things" stated Darwin handing the youth another coin causing him to smile as he played with it excitedly.
Angelica just stared at the action and understood why Darwin had taken losses but at the same time she was curious as to why the kid was being bribed so blatantly.
"I will explain in front of the Master" sighed Darwin as the two moved on to other topics of conversation.
Eventually they entered an office that danced with electricity causing an amazing show of lights which instantly mesmerized the child as he smiled in wonder.
"Mine" asked the youth causing Darwin to sigh again.
"No...." answered the exhausted blessed.
"Darwin, I hope that your trip to the Orb was successful" called a valiant looking man who seemed to have lightning dancing in his eyes.
"It was" answered Darwin gesturing towards the youth causing confusion to color the Master's face.
"Who is this" asked the Master though you could hear the disappointment in his voice.
"He was birthed by the Orb, the child is something truly unique." answered Darwin.
"Interesting, what is so unique about this child" asked the Master looking at the boy in question.
"I witnessed him use multiple blessings not only from each of the main elements but from other classifications as well" answered Darwin causing the Master to widen his eyes as a smile began to appear on his face.
"Interesting, is there anything else?" asked the Master the pleased tone encouraging Darwin to list some other things he had noticed.
"He consumed the shadows of those other Blessed that had arrived before us and that seemed to be his true blessing as each of the elements were colored darkly along with his other skills however he seems to be quite ignorant of the world. He didn't even know what glasses were let alone about spacial rings" continued Darwin getting the youth's attention.
"Ring" asked the youth excitedly as his eyes lit up.
"No rings" answered Darwin with a sigh.
The Master raised a brow at this.
"Also he seems to adore things that sparkle or shine, it doesn't matter what it is as long as it looks shiny" explained Darwin as the youth looked disappointed.
"It is on that note Master that I would like to ask if it would be possible for me to be reimbursed for the bit of money I lost to this one in order to bring him here" pleaded Darwin causing the Master to nod as it was only fitting.
"It will be done, just write down the amount and I will add twenty percent to that sum as a reward" stated the Master as he dropped down to look at the child.
"What is your name" asked the Master putting on the friendliest smile he could.
The youth didn't seem interested in the Master though as he fixed his gaze on Darwin expectantly causing the man to sigh as he pulled out another coin and toss it to the youth who played with it happily.
"Such greed" stated the Master with a twitch of his brow, he was of less worth than a single silver coin was his train of thought but the youth looked at him curiously.
"Greed" asked the youth causing Darwin to smile a bit before pointing at the boy.
"Greed" answered Darwin causing the boy to point at himself and repeat it.
"That is correct, you are Greed" laughed Darwin at the petty bit of revenge for his loss.
The youth however nodded and repeated the word a few times as if dedicating it to memory, soon falling silent playing with the coin.
Angelica and the League Master just sighed at the youth.
"Coin, Coin, Coin" smiled the youth as he tried to get it to release stuff thinking it was exactly like the Spatial items.
"I think we need to broaden his vocabulary a bit" muttered Angelica while the youth seemed to become bored with the coin and pulled a ring from his shadow and gnawed on it fiercely as he knew it was certain to have something inside. However this ability caused the Master and Angelica to look at the youth in surprise however noticing this look Greed glared at them dangerously.
"Mine" growled Greed holding the ring close.
Darwin just sighed and turned to leave.
"Where are you going" asked the Master
"To collect my reward" answered Darwin leaving as fast as possible after speaking.
The Master and Angelica deadpanned at the quick escape.
"Angelica, I trust I can leave Greed in your care" asked the Master.
"My apologies Master, I am incapable of raising a child" answered Angelica before also leaving quickly not waiting for the request to become an order.
'Damn you both' thought the Master as he looked to Greed who glared at the ring for a bit before rubbing it lovingly hoping for some kind of reaction.
"Do you want me to open that for you" asked the Master thinking he might as well make some leeway in the meantime.
Greed looked at the Master curiously.
"Open" asked Greed causing the Master to sigh and feel a headache coming.
"Open" stated the Master as he demonstrated by opening his own ring releasing an item before taking it back.
"Open, Open, Open" shouted Greed in excitement as he looked at the Master with stars in his eyes.
'That's better' thought the Master feeling validated as he channeled his energy into the ring releasing it's contents causing Greed to dance in joy before the items were swallowed by his shadow but Greed looked at the Master with a religious gaze as he pulled the other Spatial items from his shadow.
"Open" pleaded Greed causing the Master to sit stunned at the number of Spatial items, some being of abnormally high quality.
"You really are Greed" muttered the Master as he began opening the items one after another and Greed jumped about excitedly as he swallowed the items up into his shadow.
As it continued though the Master felt his jaw drop from the sheer amount, it was nothing for a League, Guild, or and of the other Organizations but for a child to have already accumulated so much wealth it was a little threatening.
Coughing lightly the Master noticed a Crystal laying falling from a ring and he felt his heart seize as it was something he could use.
"Greed..... could I have that crystal" asked the Master his eyes glued to it.
"Mine" responded Greed instantly about to swallow it up until the Master spoke.
"Let's trade then" suggested the Master causing Greed to pause his actions out of confusion.
"Trade" asked Greed
"I will open the rest of the rings in exchange for that Crystal, that is a trade" explained the Master as he couldn't remove his gaze from the Thunder Gem.
Greed seemed to be thinking it over as he looked at the extra sparkly gem and the number of Rings and Spatial items left.
"Trade" relented Greed though you could see the pain in his eyes as he relinquished the gem causing the Master to look at him exasperated.
'You got all this and your crying over a single gem, truly men are not made equal' lamented the Master as he received the gem and began opening the Items until it was complete.
Greed stopped feeling emotional over the loss of one of his treasures as he played with the sparkly ball that Darwin had given as one eye was closed viewing all of his things hidden within his shadow.
"Alright now that this is done let's see about finding you a tutor" started the Master but Greed wasn't done pulling out an armor that had obvious damage but still managed to shine.
"Open" begged Greed pathetically.
"You cant open an armor" explained the Master sighing.
"Open" pleaded Greed
"It's not possible" repeated the Master but Greed seemed to not believe him.
"Open" cried Greed grabbing the Master's ankle as if some kind of devoted follower pleading to his God.
This actually had the effect of causing the Master to feel prideful.
"Why can't more of my League member's be like you" asked the Master moved
"Open" asked Greed looking hopeful
"I wish I could but it is simply impossible" sighed the Master as he summoned someone.
"Bring me Ari, she should be in the library. I have an important task for her, she will benefit greatly from this experience." called the Master as a odd set of runes opened on the floor to direct his message.
"Open" wheezed Greed laying on the floor as if he was fading, the sight was the epitome of pathetic.
"Your shameless" sighed the Master causing Greed to lean up.
"Greed" stated Greed declaring his new name.
"I know" responded the Master feeling his headache intensifying
"Trade" suggested Greed thinking hard on what he could give to have the armor opened though it was simply not possible.
"I can't open the armor" complained the Master again
This was how the two interacted for the remainder of the time until the person the Master had summoned arrived.
"For the last time it is impossible" cried the Master at his wits end until he realized Ari had arrived revealing her to be a girl around Greed's age.
"Perfect timing, Ari this is Greed. He is the target of your task, I need you to educate him as he is quite clueless about everything" explained the Master quickly.
"In other words you require me to supplement his lack of education" asked the girl her glasses being pushed up the bridge of her nose.
"That is correct, this is of the highest importance so please do not let me down. This is effective immediately" called the Master tossing Greed to the girl and quickly disappearing from the room lest the boy continue to pester him.
Greed looked at the girl swallowing the armor into his shadow.
"Come with me" stated Ari as she began walking but Greed just stared at her.
Hearing the lack of footsteps behind her Ari turned around only to see Greed had a change in expression and his eyes weren't quite as blank as before.
