He felt his phone vibrating but made sure to ignore it as he was in his chemistry class. He was listening to the lecture attentively and thought nothing could sabotage his focus. But then he received a text which made him suspicious about the strength of his concentration. As his curiosity augmented, he couldn't stop himself from checking the text. So he removed the phone from his pocket and tried to peek at its screen. It was his sister. He wondered,"Why would my sister text me now, knowing that I'd be in a class?"
He saw the text and it read,"Please, come home." He looked up at the ongoing lecture as if he was paying attention. "What could possibly be the need for my presence in the house so urgently?" He thought. Moreover the cool breeze from the air conditioning in the room and the immense silence of his fellow students intensified the suspense. Then he received another text. It was his sister again. He read the text and a chill ran down his spine. The text read,"I think mom and dad are dead." His fingers were quivering not knowing what to reply. His face was in bewilderment. He was still looking down at his phone. The lecture wasn't interesting anymore as it turned into some incomprehensible blabbering which his troubled brain found hard to process.
