Chapter 87 - The sword versus the spear (3)

This was the second time he used this move, and although Liang Chen could not see the first one, since he was still quite a distance away, he could tell that this move was incredibly powerful, as if there was nothing more powerful than it, that no matter what kind of defence the opponent had, or which restriction it was, all in front of it were mere pieces of paper, that would not be able to slower it in the least.

But now seeing it in person was different. Incredibly so. Now seeing it for himself, he immediately knew that his own attack did not even have the right to be in front of it. That it would at most delay it by a mere fraction of a fraction of a millisecond, or perhaps even less than that.

This was the first time he saw such a strong attack. This was also the first time that he saw a weapon that he had always looked down upon in a different light.

This weapon that he regarded in absolute disdain, that he simply treated as something that only had the right to be used as a little knife to eat, could bring such a strong power. A power that made him almost feel despair.

Then, he thought about that wall that he had seen before, the wall that told the history of an absolute genius that had no equal, and that had brought with him prosperity and even a golden age of cultivation.

The walls showed him winning again and again, without never failing or even having a set back. But how could someone not even have a single set back in their whole lives?

Liang Chen knew very well that only the best moments of that genius were recorded, mostly after he had matured and having almost no opponent that even dared to loom at him in the face.

As such, with his invincibility he brought about a new age. And although he was not able to see the last painting, he was well aware that that genius had either found his match or his golden age was destroyed along with him and all those that followed him.

Liang Chen was not stupid, he simply could not be bothered to think about useless stuff.

He would neither be so petty as to blame the planet where he was born or that he was not born in the same clan and given the same chances as the man in front of him.

He himself knew that there was absolutely nothing to gain to think about. Some were born better than others, and that disparity only becomes bigger as time goes on.

So, therefore it was the role of those born weak, to struggle and learn how to become strong. Like he did. He was born a beggar and had nothing but himself to relly on, later on he had an extra mouth to feed, so he struggled together with him some more and in the end they both survived and changed their fates for the better.

Even so, they went their separate ways. One was given the chance to become even stronger, while the other remained the same.

Even so he did not feel any envy to speak of. He only felt happy for him.

Now his disparity with the man in front of him. He could tell that this was not an art created by himself, but perhaps inherited it from either his master or it was found in an ancient ruin, or perhaps something else, he did not know. This was the man's fortune, not his.

He had always been content with himself and never cared for someone other than the ones he considered to be his people, when one of them was killed, he blamed himself and went crazy to become stronger, and in the end he did, and ever since then he had always been invincible.

But now he was not even qualified to struggle in front of this man's technique, and he could not even protect his own disciple, even if they were sparing, he could not make the feeling that Liang Meng was injured, even if it was healed instantly, because of him, out of his heart. So he wanted to avenge her himself.

But even he could not touch the man. Even before when their techniques collided, he could feel that his own was way inferior, so he made up for it by increasing and using a bigger amount of Ki to try and mend what it was lacking, and although the two techniques ended up in a draw, he did not feel like he had won.

So he poured everything that he had on this technique, but in the end it failed as well.

This thinking of his only lasted an instant, before he continued to pour everything that he had into his technique.

When the two collided, there was no suspense.

Liang Chen's technique fell appart instantly, without being able to hold it back even for a mere fraction of a second, and in the end that sword light pierced his body and sent it flying while blood fell everywhere.

When his body landed, he did not even have the strength to get up.

Then, his body glowed golden, and his wounds healed.

He did not get up. He simply looked at the sky that was beside him blankly.
