Chapter 2 - The death of the sword

Ever since I was born I was acclaimed to be a rare genius on the path of talismans and formations. But what trully called to me was the sword. The elegance and feeling of invincibility of the sword. That was what called to the younger me. Now I believe the sword should be emotionless and cold, bringing death to all those who get in my path.

My clan wanted me to study talismans and formations so I fused them into my sword, creating with it a new way to use the sword. Although I wasn't the first to make it or to even study it I was the one who took it to the extreme, allowing me to be invincible in the same cultivation realm.

During the long years my sword was soaked in the blood of countless beings, to the point that I began to see life as fragile and became indifferent towards it. With my invincibility came arrogance. It made me believe that I was truly unstoppable. Untill the day arrived that all my arrogance was blown away.

I, Xiao Hai known as the "Saber God" hereby chalenge fellow daoist Feng Meng acclaimed as the "Sword Goddess" to a battle to the death!" a voice so sharp that one could feel a saber pressed against their neck resounded on the Upper World.

It wasn't strange that experts would fight each other in fact many would even get together once in a few years or even decades to better comprehend their dao and their techniques.

But what truly shocked them was the words "battle to the death". After all very few and rare between experts of the level of these two would do so. After all they were all experts i their own field.

For example the "Medicine God" could poison you to death and you would not even know or ge could simply heal you so much that you would literally die from being tway too "healed". The "Hunting God" just needed a single arrow to kill you from the other side of the world. And so on.

Thus even in the past millennium very few death battles have been fought between such experts. Unless they had such enmity that would affect their dao heart they were reluctant to do so.

But after the initial shock they composed themselves and enlightment filled their eyes. It was no secret that the two of them wanted the other one dead. The first time they met they insulted and diminished each other choise of cultivation.

One was unfeeling, while the other was moving without regrets. They may seem the same but only those two would know how much of a rift there was between the two.

The 'unfeeling' one simply wouldn't care about anything, even if for example their clan was unwilling to let them do something, they would either do it by force or remove it of the way one way or the other.

While the 'moving on without regrets' even if they had to sacrifice their well being to do something they would do it. If we put the same example above was present to them, they would gain acknowledgment in order to prove that they can do it.

So the first tought the second to be tiring and a waste of time. While the second the first to be cruel and despicable.

So from a certain point of view this battle was bound to happen.

"Since you are here there is no need for you to leave." said a voice so cold and emotionless that people could feel their backs freeze and feel a sword on their throats. With it came a figure that was just like a fairy that descended towards the mortal world.

But her hair was a mess and there was even dirt on her face. But no one dared to point it out, after all those who said something were just treated as meddlesome bugs and were "squashed".

As the two madd their way to the battlefield in this case, to space, countless people came from all over, from many worlds and enoumerous clans, even dying ancestors were willing to leave their coffin and came just to watch. If they could gain even a slight insight they would profit immensely.

The battle begun as soon has enough distance was made.

Countless noises from a sword and saber clashing against each other was heard and there were some spectators that just couldn't handle it some even fainted while others were gravelly injured. And that was just from their aura alone. They were sizing each other up.

"Who do you think is gonna win? I bet on the "Sword Goddess". Her sword is the description of how a sword should be." said a random ancestor.

"No, no ,no one can fight against the "Saber God", his way is the true way to use both the sword and the saber. Always moving forward without regret. Brother Nin is just confused." said an ancestor who clearly didn't like the previous.

Countless voices of the such sounded about but they never took their eyes away from the "sizing". The moment the two of them withdrew their aura all voices dissapeared. They knew that from now on a moment of their carelessness could cost them their lives.

The moment the two moved the dao was overturned and even time seemed to stop. A sword so strong and cold formed countless formations in midair as it moved forward and many more talismans were created.

A saber so sharp that could make all beings submit to it brought about with it the force of the elements and hints of life could be felt from it.

Thunder gives birth and blesses all creations and creates life, in this case, Wood that in turn starts birthing life but, Fire destroyes it all but before it finishes Water cleanses it and Wind spreads all seeds in the Earth that was blessed by both Fire and Thunder before.

That was the feeling the sword gave off. But those spells and talismans weren't simple either, they were spells that could make worlds tremble and massacre countless, many of wich were created by the "Sword Goddess" herself, that alone gives her the right to stand proud anywhere.

"Very well Feng Meng you have improved, but I have as well. Now taste this I created it just for this occasion 'Heavenly Elements'." A voice nor hurried nor slow came about. as soon as he said those last words his previous atack that seemed to countain traces of life was much stronger and complete now, for now it countains hints of the heavenly dao giving it the blessing of the heavens.

Space was tore and many couldn't help but retreat thousands of feet back and build formations to protect themselves. There were even some who almost perished just from the shock waves from that atack.

"I already knew that you would come with something like that so I created this 'Cycles of Death'." A voice even more freezing than space itself sounded about and everything lost its color. Although there wasn't much color to begin with in space but instead it was the color the surrounding planets that disappeared and life itself was about to collapse, even the cycle of transmigration seemed to materialize and the faint image of the 'Yellow River' was about to come to life.

As soon as the two atacks collided there was barely any distinction between life and death. Immediately after the two atacks two figures were visible. From their figure it was clear who won that exchange and who lost.

Xiao Hai was clearly injured, blood was falling all over and there was a pale look on his face it was clear to anyone that he was gravely injured. But Feng Meng was worse, all her formations were destroyed there was blood all over, she was coughing blood everywhere and her face was deathly pale. Both were gravely injured but it was clear whose injuries were worse.

After that simple exchange doubt appeared on Feng Meng's heart. She had poured everything she had known on that single move. All her knowledge, her experience and all her understanding of the sword. Yet she lost the exchange. That was a huge blow to her pride and her confide.

"Seems like I will be the one to win this Feng Meng. We have fought for decades and now everything will come to an end. 'Elemental Catastrophe'." That voice that seemed like a heavenly saber boomed about with a slight hint of excitement boomed about. And all the elements formed again, but instead of creating an orderly and infinite cycle it formed chaos. Natural disasters appeared, they were so strong that even some ancestors palled just by watching them. Even the elements themselves were present, they seemed to have their own consciousness and formed more and more disasters each stronger than the last.

Feng Meng was still affected by the last exchange and could barely react on time to put up a few formations and create a few talismans to counter each element. It was not as if this technique was stronger than the other but that Feng Meng's dao heart was already damaged and that slight hesitation juat now was enough to gain the upper hand and she ended up in the brink of death, only with a few breaths left, but it was not enough in the end she would die. In the last exchange even her foundation was injured, now she had no hope of recovery, even if she had she would no longer be able to cultivate.

Very few could believe it. The strong and proud "Sword Goddess" lost. Many were happy and/or even ecstatic, after all a person like her was bound to gain a lot of enmity with others. Of course there were some who felt sad, after all such a genius has fallen, such an incredible and talented genius who created so many peerless achievements has perished.
