Chapter 37 - : Just How Many Are They?!

That night, Dal Rae returned late at the hospital for her graveyard shift. She flung her handbag across her desk upon entering her office. She was really frustrated that her fingers were trembling! Slowly taking in deep breaths, she massaged her throbbing temples.

"That stupid bastard! I swear I'm gonna slice his stupid genital open the next time I see him again!" She muttered furiously.

Dal Rae was very angry. After all, her night had gone the total opposite direction from what she was expecting. Before coming to work, she had agreed to meet with someone she met at an online dating app. Duh! She wasn't getting any younger! Besides, many of her coworkers were now in a happy relationship after they met their significant someone through this application. Dal Rae was just testing her luck if she'd find someone too.

Apparently, it seemed like the heavens were hinting that she would remain alone forever. The man she just met was completely different from the guy she was talking to on the app. Virtually, he seemed really nice. He was polite when they first conversed. He was sweet and patient even though she couldn't reply immediately because of her heavy workload. To make the long story short, the guy definitely looked like the real deal!

However, he was big a****** in person. Dal Rae found it hard to believe that the man she was having dinner with earlier was the same man she met online! The difference was drastic! First, he had no table manners and he was f****** late. Note that he didn't even apologize but that was forgivable because he mentioned that he had an 'emergency'.

The second was worse. The man was ogling at Dal Rae the entire time! Sh** his eyes were everywhere! Dal Rae shuddered as she recalled the memory. His stares looked as if he was already undressing her on the spot! F****** stupid bastard!

Lastly, when Dal Rae scolded him upfront, he wasn't even guilty. In fact, he didn't care at all! Dal Rae was pissed off so she excused herself momentarily to calm her mind for a while. She didn't take long. But when she came back, the man was gone. He f****** left her to pay the bill!

Dal Rae felt stupid for even thinking that there were better men out there. If there was, she felt really unlucky to have met the worst of their kind. Dal Rae cooled off before returning back to her duties. She was already late. Slacking off would just leave her penniless so she'd better kick a** at work.

Upon entering the hallway, a nurse caught up to her. "Dr. Oh, the patient on room 620 vomitted his food a while ago. Dr. Lee already took care of him before she left so he's stable now. This will be the content of his next meal." The nurse showed Dal Rae the menu. "Is it alright to serve this to the patient?" He asked.

Dal Rae took a moment to analyze the situation. Later on she replied. "Hold on, these are almost similar to the last meal the patient had. I'll consult with the nutritionist first. Meanwhile, wait for my further instructions." She said.

"Yes, doctor." The nurse politely responded before checking up on the next patient.

True to her word, Dal Rae indeed consulted with the in-house nutritionist. The department had already received the notice prior to her visit so they already began investigating. According to the observations with the sample, the food didn't contain any contaminant. The food was clean and the utensils were unquestionably sterilized since it was part of the protocol.

If the food wasn't the cause, then what is? The patient claimed to be allergiec only to nuts. His meal didn't contain such ingredient so it was very unlikely this response was caused by allergens. Anyway, the drugs he consumed were still being processed so they were still bound to get an answer.

On her way back to her office, Dal Rae stopped by a coffee vending machine to get herself a hot cup of macchiato. Nothing beats a refreshing cup of coffee to get her mind off of some things. The machine was quite old and as usual, it needed smacking in order for it to run. She hit the machine hard on the side and instantly, a paper cup appeared. The vending machine then proceeded with the process of pouring the hot coffee.

Dal Rae opened the mini door to retrieve the cup of coffee but in a flash, another hand snatched it. "Thank you." A man said out of nowhere. When Dal Rae looked at the thief, she noticed that he was wearing a doctor's coat too. Around his neck hung a stethoscope with a little giraffe keychain and on his other hand, he held a clipboard similar to the one she held herself.

"What the--" Dal Rae managed to stop herself from cursing. "Hey, stop playing jokes with me. I'm not in the mood." She bluntly said. she held out her hand, gesturing for him to give it back.

However, the man was concentrated on cooling the coffee. Soon after a few blows, he actually drank from the cup. He f****** drank her coffee!

"Hey!" She exclaimed. Dal Rae was already annoyed to begin with. But as the man glanced at her and smiled, this action of his irritated her all the more.

"I believe you're mistaken, Miss." He raised the cup. "This is mine." He declared.

Dal Rae rolled her eyes. Oh wow, another jerk. JUST HOW MANY ARE THEY?!

"You could hit the machine again if you don't believe me." He challenged.

Dal Rae glared at him. "Oh I'd much rather hit you." She muttered through gritted teeth.

The man walked past her and stood next to the vending machine. Suddenly, he smacked the side causing Dal Rae to actually jump in surprise of the loud sound. Another paper cup appeared and soon the machine filled it again with coffee.

"Also, you should know the difference between espresso..." He said while raising his cup again. "And macchiato." He pointed at the cup currently being filled by the machine. "See you around!" The doctor flashed another seamless smile at her before turning to leave on the opposite direction.
