Continuing the trip, I still need to test some equipment I made. After storing the boar into my inventory, I tried the blastshroom balls on some other enemies. The result
Goblins- Super effective
Horned rabbits- Super effective
Wolves- Needs to actually hit first
Gigantes- Too big
Gobs and rabbits were weak in the first place while wolves moved around too much so they were hard to hit without getting too close. I found a smaller Gigantes and managed to get it in the eye but if it was too big then there wouldn't be anything I could do. I was lucky last time since the first one went for a kick instead of a stomp. I probably would have struggled more if it did.
Since I was walking while thinking too hard, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and accidentally bumped into a huge pile of fur.
When I looked up, I saw a pair of beastly eyes with sharp teeth and brown fur.
A bear. It's a bear.😲... 😱Ah!
"Roar!!"
"Uwah!!"
I don't know why I can kill giants but I'm afraid of bears. In any case let's play dead. While thinking that I dropped to the ground.
The bear sniffs me and opens its mouth. Ah... I just remembered a game show.
....
The game show
"Now for our next question! Participant A!"
"Yes!"
"Would you play dead if you met a bear!?"
"Yes!"
"Participant B!"
"No!"
"The answer was No! Bears have been known as scavengers so they'd still eat you anyway! If you really played dead then your screwed!"
"Now, as an extra tip, don't even think about climbing a tree since some bears have been known to be able to do that as well!"
.....
Back to the story
I quickly rolled away from the bear and threw a bomb at it. The effect?
"Roar!"
Not that good. Its fur was too thick so it didn't do much damage. In that case...
While getting up, I took out my rope and club. When the bear charged at me, I swung downwards for the head.
Bam!
Its head hit the floor but it still tried getting up.
Hah! Like I'd let you!
"Hah!"
Art: Blade
I charged and slashed down with my shovel but the bear that was getting up blocked with its arm.
"Roar!"
"Damn!"
The roar was really loud so my head feels a bit dizzy and my shovel was stuck halfway though it's arm. While I was stunned at its thickness, it swung its remaining claw at me.
I manage to roll away again but that gave it enough time to get up. Tch. I'm worried about my stamina since I still remember the Gigantes fight. I should end this soon but I doubt I can get enough distance to use my bombs or rope and club properly. A normal club would just break on this guy while I still haven't tested my test weapons properly.
As I was thinking as fast as I could, the bear swung its right claw(undamaged) at me again.
"Ah screw it!"
I take out my weapon, held it with both hands and move as fast I can. My final blow. The bear seemingly lost sight of me mid swing.
DOUBLE ART: BLADE+PHYSICAL BOOST
The bear's corpse glowed with its head off and I collapsed on the spot. Physical boost, a technique where you use mana to enhance your body. Sounds simple and easy huh? The problem is that it's like a baby trying to learn how to run without learning how to walk first.
Sigh... Oh well, I didn't have much of a choice since leaving my back to an animal would be stupid.
While I was thinking useless thoughts, I somehow managed to bring myself back to reality. I looked at the yellowish white greatsword in my hands. It took me awhile but I managed to make some thing out of a Gigantes bone.
That said, even after breaking the bone into segments and trying to condense it, it still ended up over 2 metres tall so it's hard to swing. Still better than a shovel though.😅
