Chereads / Princess of the Swords / Chapter 8 - Boom!

Chapter 8 - Boom!

Edkael is back inside his humble home.

He took out his warrior ring and look at it for a while. This ring was given as a form of identification for being a warrior in training.

"Alright, here we go. I hope it works." He wasn't really sure if the elemental laws of this planet are the same as his former planet.

As he was already adept in runes, he decided to carve a complicated spatial rune on his ring. After a series of complicated carvings, he finally finished it. He wore the ring back then he tried to extract mana from the illumination crystal, or mana stone, then ingest into the runic ring. A blue and smoky light suddenly appeared from the mana stone and transferred to the ring continuously until the mana stone lost its glow. He focused his intent and waved his hands to the knife on the table. Suddenly, the knife disappeared. Sure enough, the knife went into the spatial dimension of his ring. To his delight, he was able to carve a spatial storage rune with a dimension the size of his room. The only problem is that most of the mana was used to create the dimension so only a little was left to fortify it. Still, the stability of the spatial storage was able to last for about two months so it was still worth it. All he need left is to look for more mana stones.

He was also surprised that the seemingly common ring was able to hold the complicated runes and not be destroyed. He deduced that this may be because of the natural material density of the things on this planet. He even thought that it will be able to hold more runic symbols as long as there's still a space to carve it. With the complicated spatial runes only taking up half of the ring's surface, he decided to make his ring a multitool.

At the same time, in a bed chamber inside the castle.

"Mother, when will you allow me to go and explore the forest? I need to cultivate life force. What's the use of teaching me if I can't even use it?" The young princess complained to the queen.

But to her surprise, her mother didn't get mad this time. "I think it's also time." The queen admitted. "But I will only give permission if you bring with you a companion. I won't allow it if you go alone."

Thinking of her friend Jzy, Princess Kahlia was immediately delighted. "Yes mother, thank you very much." She ran to her mother and gave her a tight hug.

"When are you planning to go?" Queen Shezbeth asked.

"Tomorrow!" Without second thoughts, the princess immediately answered. "But mother, isn't father the one who is supposed to give the permission?"

"Don't worry about it. Honestly, it was his idea in the first place." The queen replied.

"Really? I thought father didn't want me to go?"

"It seems my princess is having second thoughts about it. Darling, should we let her or not?" Her father, King Wulfhart, entered the room.

"Father!" She immediately ran to hug him and showered him with kisses on his entire face. "No no no! I'm really glad you allowed me to go. You are the greatest father ever! I love you very much. Muah muah"

"Alright alright. No need for bribes." But his father was obviously giving in to her endearment.

"Stop it you two before I get jealous." The queen threw them a serious glance.

After a short pause, laughter ensued. The trio talked and laughed for a while until the princess left to head for her own room.

.

Also at the same time, in one of the rooms inside the castle.

"Young miss..." A lady fully clad in a tight black suit was bowing to someone sitting on a bed.

.

Without further events, morning came.

"Jzy! Wake up!" Princess Kahlia knocked on Jzy's room.

She knocked for a long time. "Jzy, can you hear me? Open up. I have something to tell you." Nobody answered. She reached for the door knob only to find out that it wasn't locked. So, she opened the door and stepped inside.

What she saw puzzled her. There was no one inside Jzy's room. Even the bed was folded neatly. So she went outside to look for her.

"Father, have you seen Jzy?" The first person she looked for was her father because he is the one who fully knows about Jzy Lin.

"Isn't she resting in her room?" Her father asked.

"She's not there. And I don't know where to look for her." Princess Kahlia said.

"Alright dear. I'll tell her to look for you when I see her. She'll definitely report to me once she's recovered."

"You knew?" The princess was surprised.

"Of course. Your father is a genius. Things like that won't escape you father's eyes." The king retorted.

"I'll get going then. If you see Jzy please tell her I'll be at grandpa's camp." Princess Kahlia dashed off in a flurry. She ignored her father's lame joke because she was thinking of the more important things. Her sword skills still needed some honing so she wanted to train more at her grandpa's camp before setting off with Jzy.

While she was in the stables picking up a mount, she remembered the good-looking young man who accompanied her so she picked another mount and let it follow her to the training grounds.

"Uncle Bear, where's Edkael?" She approached a tall and hunky soldier.

"He excused himself and went to the encampment at the outskirts of the city." The soldier answered even if he was flustered.

Then he saw the princess rode off towards the encampment. "That was new. The princess always called us 'you' before. Now he called me Uncle Bear even if it's not my name. But she remembered that young lad's name. What's happening?"

As the princess was getting near the encampment, she immediately saw Uncle Venn. He was standing beside a carriage drawn by Jamna mounts. The peculiar thing is that there was a cage on top of the open carriage. And inside the cage she saw her buddy Edkael, also seemingly out of his wits.

"Uncle Venn, what's this? What happened?" She approached her Uncle Venn wanting to get into the bottom of this.

Instead, two soldiers with bulky muscles approached the princess and captured her.

"What? Uncle Venn! What's the meaning of this?" She shouted, demanding for an explanation.

While she was being put inside the same cage where the young man was, Uncle Venn finally said something.

"I'm sorry princess. I hope someday you'll forgive us."

With those words, the princess finally calmed down a bit. She noticed that in the eyes of Uncle Venn there was no malice. Instead they were full of utmost warmth and care.

"Go!" He commanded the soldier holding the reins. "Get her as far away from here as possible."

"Uncle Venn! What's happening? Please let me out!" Although she calmed a bit, her eyes were getting wet with tears and she started to panic.

"I have to do this. Or else you parents will not forgive me." Uncle Venn told her with a sad aura evident on his face.

"Young man, forgive me for involving you. Please take care of the princess." He bowed towards Edkael as the carriage started to roll towards the forest.

Still confused, the princess and the young man watched the encampment as they were getting farther and farther away. But they were still able to see hundreds of the best soldiers ever seen on the planet clambering up their mounts and left towards the city in a hurry.

Boooommm!

In not even a minute later, A loud boom was heard. Following that, a big cloud of smoke rose to the skies originating from the city.

"Nooooooooo!" Seeing this, the princess flopped down screaming. Unable to hold her own weight.

"Mother… Father… Grandpa… Huhuhuhu…" Having lost all her strength, all she was able to do was let out a whimper. She was finally able to understand why they were brought to the forest forcefully. But she wasn't really happy nor was she thankful.

The soldier was also surprised because of that loud explosion since it was his first time seeing something like that. So, he unknowingly stopped the carriage for a second and looked back.

But he immediately gathered his wits back when he saw a single person flying towards them. Yes, that person was approaching fast without any mount but instead is floating in the air.

"Hiyahhh!" He whipped the mounts as the carriage sped through the forest while being chased by the flying man.

Fwwooomm!

A fireball flew past them. Then two fireballs followed.

The last one finally hit them on the wheels. The carriage tumbled down and the cage got broken when it hit a tree.

The soldier jumped away and immediately stood up while unsheathing his sword. "Are you guys alright?" Seeing the two only got ruffled up a bit, he still asked. And the two only responded with a nod as they were still in the process of figuring everything out.

"I finally caught up." The flying man landed near them.
