"I don't know" she almost whispered.
It isn't uncommon to find a similar face. Heck, some even believe in doppelgangers. But an exact copy of herself in an actual living person is a shock to her.
'Do I have an unknown twin? But my parents never mentioned anything about a missing daughter. Then are they my real parents? But are twins even that identical?' She's gonna go crazy with these thoughts.
The man before her studied her confused and almost shock expressions crossing her face. His eyes never revealing anything. Whether he believes her or not she can't tell. I don't even know his name, she thought.
And then as if he can read her mind, he said
"Alex. Alex Liu"
Her eyes rounded unbelievingly. This is "The Alex Liu?!" The mighty devil of this city?! But who can tell? He never allowed anybody to publish a photo of him least that company find themselves bankrupt the next day! Articles about him only mention his name, his achievements or his' company's acquisitions.
What she only knows about him is he is on his early thirties, f*cking rich with numerous companies under him and no more. Heck she didn't even hear him getting married! That's how rare an average person like her would know about people like him sitting on top of the echelon. There is more news about the royals than him. And now she was mistaken as his wife?!
She gaped at him unable to utter a single word. She's even afraid to breathe. Everything about this man screams danger. From his dark wavy locks, furrowed eyebrows and penetrating hazel eyes, prominent nose and thin lips. She isn't small in height but he makes her feel small. And despite his unsmiling face, he has a charm around him which is clearly much much more dangerous. She's like a fly coming close to the fire. Stupid that is.
"Like what you see?" he mocked.
Her face turned beet red at that. Thus she shook her head negatively.
"No?" Alex Liu chuckled at her response.
Lara inhaled deeply to calm herself and apologized.
"Mr. Liu, im sorry. I'm not the person you're looking for, clearly this is a big misunderstanding. Can I please go home now?" she bowed her head in respect to this glorious man before her.
"I'm not yet convinced I'm wrong" he however replied. Before Lara could answer him, her phone rang again. Seeing her best friend Jenny is the one calling she didn't hesitate to answer it right away.
"Jen?"
"Sis! Where are you? Luke is crying!" Her best friend immediately informed her. She can also hear her son calling Mommy on the other line.
"What happened? Can I talk to him?" The other lady passed the phone to the little boy beside her.
"Mommy come home!"
"Baby what happened?"
"Mommy I dreamt the big bad wolf got you!"
The study room is of course quiet at the time, and Luke's voice on the other line can be clearly heard. Lara nervously glanced at Alex. And for a moment she thought she saw amusement in his cold eyes.
"Hush now my baby. Mommy is fine. Mommy is coming home soon." She looked away from him. This stranger has no business listening to her conversation with her son.
"You sure there's no wolf there mommy?" Luke started hiccuping and she felt relieved a little.
"Yes baby. You be good there alright. Mommy will be there soon." She continued to pacify Luke a little more and even sang a little to put him back to sleep. To hell with this stranger in the room. Her son needs her. Her heart started to feel furious at this incident. She ought to be home with Luke not dealing with troubles that doesn't concern her at all.
After she ended her call she faced Alex Liu again prepared to insist to send her home. But she felt tongue tied when she saw the look in his eyes.
"Are you sure there isn't a big bad wolf with you?"
