'Hmmmm...'
I opened my eyes after dreaming for what I felt an eternity.
'How long was I in a coma...'
I was worried that my current parents would discard me after finding out that their baby has been asleep for ages but instead felt relieved that I was still in my mother's arms.
'Phew...Well, it did feel like I was living in that dream for hundreds of years...'
In the dream, I was randomly spawned in a dark city that revolved around clockworks everywhere, it was a steampunk-like city filled with murderers and sick people, but luckily for me, I was recruited into an organization called the Dark Brotherhood and went through the intense torturous training.
'I still don't understand...What did I get from that dream other than the experience of living like a full-time assassin?'
[Acquired title: Dark Vagrant]
As if the system was waiting for my question, I saw a dark and transparent box appearing in my vision.
'Wh-What is this, a Dark Vagrant?'
[Dark Vagrant Level 0]
The small box in my eyes contained only those few words before it vanished.
And how did all of this happened you ask?...
.
..
...
Surrounded by thousands of floating images in a dark endless void, I realized after studying them closely that these image was about everything that I've read, watched or played through.
'How are these even dreams...?'
I could only picture myself watching the past me reading manga and such.
'How is it even going to be useful or give me an ability?'
[300 Seconds left...Please choose your dream.]
I heard a voice that came above my head, and when I looked up, I could barely make out the tiny spect of light that was floating like a star far away in this dark space.
"C...Could you tell me how will I obtain an ability?"
[A dream will give you its laws and will depend on the user to comprehend it.]
The robotic voice promptly answered my question, which left me even more confused.
'I only have less than 5 minutes left...Screw it!'
Even though I did not understand the concept of the dream yet, I knew that if I chose the right one, it could determine my life and future.
'One chance she said...'
As my invisible soul flew across the floating images, I found out that the system actually categorized my dreams into games, anime and real life, which is pretty much useless in my situation.
'Hmmp, what can my real life give me anyway.'
[99 Seconds left.]
After rushing through many frames that I deemed useless, I decided to jump directly into the game category that stretched out so far in the dark horizon that I couldn't even see the end of it.
'I am guessing that I will obtain some spells or something from the frame that I choose...If I can understand it? Or how long can I-'
I shook my head and decided to ask the system one more time with the hope of not receiving a confusing reply.
[Dreams can be reviewed as many times as the user can handle but the first dream is special, the user can stay inside as much as he or she wants but can only review it once.]
'Wow...Surprisingly, that system pulled through and gave me a detailed answer.'
.
..
...
'Useless...Useless, weak, what would I get from this? The power of will? Ha.'
Most of the games displayed in the picture were mostly the casual type I played when I was a child, and I never thought I would make fun of one of the best game ever.
'Oh Lunk, I would have totally chosen you but...You don't really have superpower other than your tools and spirit to keep fighting on...'
[10 Seconds left.]
.
..
...
....
'And so that's how it went, I panicked at the last second and jumped into a frame with a scary dark mask...But hey, I couldn't be blamed, I only had 5 minutes to scan through every single thing of my life.'
After looking around, I concluded that only a few minutes have passed when I fell asleep even though I lived through my dream for more than a hundred years.
'Arggh...I have so many questions, but she won't answer me.'
I wanted to ask that woman or girl about the system and the black egg that is floating inside of me.
'That egg looks exactly just like that stone monument that has been passed down through my dad's lineage for years...'
Although it was way more significant than the original size, I could tell that it was the same object because of the familiar aura.
'It looks better than when it was a stone.'
With nothing to do or more like can't do, I was just floating inside of my body's core just like how I did back in the dream.
'Oh... The long dream might be useful after all.'
My spectral baby-self was rubbing his chin until I heard a sudden footstep sound that resonated in my ears.
'Someone is coming...Heavy steps, armored? Most likely and with a sword...'
The faint sound of the earth and wind told me everything that I needed to know, and with the only ability I can use right now, I decided to cry.
"Wahhh!!!"
"Wahhhhhhh!!!!!!"
I cried louder and louder.
"Huff...*Takes deep breath*."
"WAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"
My so-called mom must have been exhausted because she didn't even wake up after my initial cries.
"Huh? What-?!"
The gentlewoman finally woke up and looked all around the room until she realized that she wasn't in dreamland anymore.
"Oh dear... It's just you, are you hungry, here is mommy's breast, say ahhhh."
The sweaty woman slowly lifted her loose shirt as I twisted my neck around to try and stop the mother.
"Teacher you are back!"
The voice of a young man could be heard as two additional pairs of footsteps approached the little hut.
"Welcome back uncle Hyode!"
Another voice could be heard, this time a female one that sounded mischievous.
"Mhmm I am back, how is she and my baby?"
My mother froze upon hearing the voice of my supposedly father and trembled in excitement.
"Just in time...Dear, your father is finally back!"
