Chapter 6 - learning outside school

Education had fully begun for Bruce. He was privileged to learn from a high class individual of the society. Alot of individuals were capable of sending their kids to schools without considering the cost because they had the funds to keep up with it. However, there were still individuals out there who were unlucky.

Bobby wasn't able to give his son the wish of every parent, but at least himself and his son would survive the hardships together. If one couldn't survive, what was the essence of education??

Since Bruce lacked in all aspects of education, Lisa had to provide all the necessary materials a child needed for successful learning. The first lesson Bruce started with, was the letters of the alphabets. sounds weird right?? But it was compulsory for a child to know this. After this lesson he proceeded into the reading and writing lesson. Gradually, he learnt with all his mind and concentration infused into the studies. He needed to know these basics if at all he needed a job in the future. However, the knowledge to read and write wasn't a guarantee that one will get a job in the nearest future.

Steadily and slowly, time passed and Bruce grew in knowledge. He looked more nourished and healthy. Although this situation raised eyebrows in the neighborhood, Bobby had to man-up to defend his son, after all, this was the job of a father. Some neighbors thought Bobby had become a thief, some thought he just starved himself to let his son have all the food since the money he usually had coming in, had taken a turnaround. He wasn't bothered by their thoughts by a bit, that's all they could do, think.

Books also began appearing in the room steadily as Bruce was becoming a professional at reading and writing. Whenever Bobby asked Bruce about it, he always replied innocently, shifting ownership of the books to children of the neighborhood. Bobby didn't give it much thought, after all it was knowledge. If a child was willing to learn why should he stop it, especially when it's his son who hadn't acquired education of any kind.

Bruce performed well under the tutelage of Lisa. Lisa was now well accustomed to shock of the kid's growth. It was stunning to have a kid learn how to read and write under 5 months. The child was practically a genius. This learning speed was incredible, if he was able to keep up with this learning speed up to his battle training, he might be able to become an incredible farmer.

Farming is a process of extraction of raw materials from the earth. One who involves himself in this process is known as a farmer. Farming had categories, one could be be a sea farmer, a mine farmer, a field farmer, etc. it all depends on where the process is practised.

Lisa was proud with the progress so far. Most importantly Bruce's progress. Smiles coloured her face when she thought of becoming a successful teacher in a school, she never knew she could be this good. Maybe if she could bring such a young talent into the firm she would be promoted from a middle man to the upper echelons of the firm and by then, she would be living like a queen. Just the thought of this made her drool, she could almost explode with joy. She couldn't wait to see what spirit soul this kid would unlock. After all, this kid possessed a rear talent.

Frequently, Bruce will go on academic pars with kids of the neighborhood who were in the process of acquiring primary education. At the end of every competition, he always lost to the kids. Those kids usually scorned him and mockingly consoled him. Whatsoever was said or done, a school remained a school, these kids were part of schools while he wasn't. what a school had to offer far surpassed what an individual would offer personally. This just came to show the gap between these kids and Bruce. Although, Bruce knowledge was not wide enough, he wasn't far from them either.

These kids were just evidence showing the quality of staff the school possessed. Most people believed teachers to be the most important people in the colony while some argued that the most important people were the farmers. This controversy usually sparked arguments among students in the various schools, it was indeed a topic to be argued. People could not give praises to teachers and abandon the farmers who gave their all in the fields to ensure the survival of the colony.

No matter how easy it looked, one had to admit the risks involved in farming regardless of the type or location. Several trainings were used to prepare this individuals for the hazards of facing the sea or any other resource location. Farming was the most dangerous business in the colony anyone could think of going into, but was also the highest paid, so one could say it was juicy. This was the reason most farmers lost their lives, because they were blinded by the money and failed to see the hazards involved in it.

Take for instance the sea. Farmers travelled in large vessels like the famous Titanic. The Titanic was a legendary ship that existed in "Wonders Of The Sea" by an ananymous author. This ship had the power of about 4-5 ships combined, and was large enough to carry 5 states of people at a time. It was literally a floating earth. These farmers had to use sophisticated tools and equipments in farming to increase their progress and reduce the risks, yet it was still a pipe dream to bring in sufficient harvest for the colony.

Fishes like the shark, piranhas, sea lions and many more sea creatures had undergone evolution due to the event. These creatures now had high perception of their environment and their senses were quite high, almost equaling man, so they could naturally perceive danger from a magnanimous distance.

However, one creature had been a friend of man before the event and had still remained a friend of man after the event. The Dolphins were one of the oldest living species, even the sea loved this creature and was unwilling to let it go extinct. Now these creatures had grown to become the smartest creatures in the sea.

Not only were these creatures a threat, but the sea itself was a threat. most times, during farming exercises, it was as if the sea prevented the farmers from getting towards areas of abundance of harvest. This seriously limited the area to which the farmers could cover and also limited their farming. It was like farming on a land that couldn't be increased or innovated.

Furthermore, the harvest they got from this part of the sea was sufficient for the colony at most, but wasn't enough for competition among the colonies.

Lisa had planned to take Bruce on battle lessons after the awakening ceremony, but her eagerness to produce a hero had far surpassed her patience.

After all had been said and done, she started with meditation, to steadily bring Bruce into the world of strength.
