Chapter 12 - May I ask why you're here...?

As soon as the party stepped off the elevator, they were immediately welcomed by Madam Song's remaining partners and their staff. Pleasantries were shared, handshakes were given, and flattery floated towards the heiress every which way.

Madam Song immediately led them to the Board Room, so that they could begin discussing their business. As her staff were directed to drop all of their tasks and to focus on the VIP's arrival, the empty and quiet hallway was all that was left as the party decided to move their conversation to the privacy of the room.

It was not until a few minutes later that Bae Yuri and her small assistant attempted to get off on the same floor. But in contrast to the warm welcome received by the heiress, her welcome was slightly frigid as she tried to make her way to the conference room.

"Ms. Bae?" The floor secretary looked at her confusedly, stopping her in her tracks. "May I ask why you're here...?"

Yuri reigned in her annoyance at the secretary. "I'm here to sign my contract for the cover." She said in a matter-of-fact way.

"Your contract?"

The small assistant practically felt the heat coming off of Yuri's body so she stepped forward to try and explain.

"Secretary Park," The small assistant started nervously. "Sister Yuri recently became the top model for the company and will be handling all the promotional campaigns moving forward. We were told she'd be signing her contract today."

The lady secretary had a hint of understanding and she smiled at the two gently.

"In that case, Ms. Bae," she slightly bowed her head to Yuri. "Your contract is already at the Photography Department. I believe the Madam's office had sent word yesterday about it. This is the Administrative floor and other than the shareholders and their staff, no other employee is allowed up here."

Yuri's face turned a slight crimson as she heard the lady secretary's words.

"We were not told about that," Yuri complained. "Mi-Young, did you receive any notice about it?"

The small assistant hung her head. "No, Sister Yuri."

Yuri turned to the lady secretary. "See? No notice from the office whatsoever! If I had known-"

"Ms. Bae," the lady secretary bowed to her again. "We had sent word via email to the Photography Department about this. Your contract was prepared at the beginning of the week and was sent over yesterday. Please ask the concerned department about your contract."

As Secretary Park's words were final, Yuri had no choice but to turn around and board the elevator behind her. Angry thoughts ran through her head as they waited for the elevator that would take them to the Photography Department. The small assistant all but cowered next to her.

No other employee is allowed up here...? Yuri recalled the secretary's words and she grew angrier. I am not like 'any other employee' anyway. What does she know?

As soon as the doors closed, she grabbed her assistant's arm and asked angrily, "Why haven't you told me anything? You should have been the one keeping tabs on these things!"

The small assistant whimpered against the pain of Yuri's nails digging into her arm.

"Sister Yuri! It hurts!"

"It would hurt more if I had slapped your face!"

The angry, banshee-like model pushed her small assistant aside. "You'll have no pay for the next month, you hear? And if you cause more incidents like this, I will have you pay for it dearly."

Soon, the elevator doors opened and Bae Yuri completely turned her act around. Her small assistant could only keep her face down to hide her watery eyes as she pretended to check Yuri's schedule calendar.

"You're here!" An older, overly familiar male approached the pair as they entered the office next to the studio. The man gave off a natural male model vibe. "You're awfully late, you know. The photographers were here early for the contract signing. You should have been here as well!"

Yuri smiled apologetically to the model-turned-Assistant Director of the Photography Department, "I'm sorry to have caused a delay, but my assistant didn't receive a notice from the department."

"What?" The male echoed in surprise. 'What do you mean? You were told all about it yesterday, don't you remember? We sent the notification to your personal email since your assistant was only recently hired and her DMs were not shared with us yet."

Hearing this, Yuri gestured for her assistant to hand over her phone. She scanned her emails quickly and found that indeed a notice had been forwarded to her.

Her eyes narrowed in annoyance, a string of curses going through her head.

"I'm really embarrassed, Brother Yang," she said familiarly. "But I had something going on yesterday that I forgot to check my emails. I'm sorry..."

The older male sighed. "You should have had your assistant check your emails too."

"I will do that in the future," Yuri nodded. "Thank you for the suggestion."

"Anyway, the photographers were all done signing their own contracts and they are currently in the studio creating the storyboard for the shoot," the Assistant Director said. "You should hurry up, sign your contract, and meet with them. Create some good impression!"

Yuri nodded as she followed his directions quickly.
