Chapter 106 - Ochieng' Upgrades Again

"Good, the first trial is going to be quite easy and whether you pass it or not, we will accept you so long as you pass the other trials. You are a product of the One from above. No matter what we do to you, he will still track you and in the end save you. What we are going to ask you to do is to sever the connection between you and him. The trial is to ask you whether you agree with this arrangement or not... Do you agree to cut the connections between you and the One from above so that he cannot trace you whatsoever?" The priest asked with a solemn face.

"I agree." Sighing heavily, Ochieng' nodded.

"You have done well. After you are done with your other two trials, we are going to take you to the temple of the six mistresses where they will do this... In the second trial, we are going to see if you will be able to brave through anything for our Lord's sake." Looking at Ochieng' nonchalantly, the priest instructed.

Wuush!

With a flick of his wrist, a thick wall of fire appeared before him. Directing it below the platform, he expanded it to be fifty meters in length, two meters in height and three meters in thickness.

"That is not an ordinary fire," His voice filled the air once more, "It is laced with energies of powerful people that would want to kill you here in our world. Additionally, you will meet with different kinds of our leaders,. Most of them are so powerful that you need to go through this to face them. While this looks like a trial, it is also a way of tempering yourself. Once you are out, you will be stronger and ready for our mission."

"Is it going to be painful?" Trembling slightly, Ochieng' asked fearfully.

"That will depend on you and you alone... We are running out of time. You are to walk through that wall to the other end and come back. You should be finished by the time my spit dries."

In those days, tools to measure time were not yet invented. While it was easy to measure days, months, seasons and even hours, it was not an easy thing with seconds and minutes. Therefore, if someone wanted another person to perform a task within a few seconds or minutes, they did very interesting things. One good example is the one the High Priest was using. When a child was sent, the parent would spit on the ground and expect the child to be done by the time the spit dried. The naughty ones found it rough.

"The time starts now." After spitting on the ground, the High Priest gave Ochieng' a stern look with frowns on his face.

Ochieng' moved towards the wall in fear. Beads of sweat had even filled his face by the time he was before the fire. This left the priest shaking his head in disappointment, though he stood there to see what would happen. As for the enforcer, the smile on his ugly face could never be any wider.

Gritting his teeth and clenching his fist, Ochieng' walked into the wall of fire. The scorching heat had already assaulted him even before he entered the fire. Now that he was in, the heat was really unbearable. A loud wail echoed in the entire coliseum as a nice smell filled the air. Some Black Fiends could not help licking their lips.

The young man knew that since he had chosen this path, backing out would be the worst decision made. Even though the pain was too much and he was on the verge of losing his sanity, he walked towards the other end albeit his legs were now heavy.

He wanted to protect himself with the energies he got from the horse but he realized that the supernal bracelet was shaking intensely. It was agitated to an extent that even Ochieng's arm was trembling nonstop. It was currently red but was not burning him.

'What is happening with it'. He wondered inside. Right now, he had even forgotten that he was walking in a wall of fire.

While still skeptical about what was happening, he saw the bracelet leave his wrist on its own before floating just before his eyes. It was still shaking excitedly He was about to reach out for it when it exploded sending red energies around him. This lifted the pain altogether and the heat from the fire disappeared. Right now, he was even feeling more comfortable. Just before he thought of another thing, the energies entered him through the space between his brows while the bracelet was reduced to a mere ring.

The ring fell on his feet. He wanted to pick it up but he realized that he was a lot different from who he had been. He felt like he had been made more powerful as an Ordainer. The information on the book he had reading from the supernal bracelet were all in his mind right now.

'These flames have allowed me to reach the ninth realm of power on a whim. Furthermore, the Inscrutable Horse's powers have helped me reach that realm faster. Hehe, having reached the ninth realm, I can tap into the energies of the elements with just a thought to help me deal with any Black Fiend. I can also kill them with just a thought. If I am in Keniya, I can locate any of those creatures no matter where they are. I can also Ordain anyone and anything to help me fight them. What a fortuitous encounter.'

Tapping into the information flowing in his head, Ochieng' laughed excitedly. His eyes were now glowing within the fire making him look strange. He did not know that going through that fire would let him activate all the Ordainer's powers. His abilities were now many and he could not talk about all of them at the moment. Picking the ring and putting on his middle finger on the left hand, Ochieng' walked towards the other end before coming back as if it was not fire that he was walking through, but some field of fresh air. This shocked everyone around.

Ochieng' jumped on the platform and stood before the High Priest his eyes beaming with confidence. The priest himself was looking at him with eyes that were almost dropping out of their sockets.

"I am done." Smiled Ochieng'.

"O...kay." Recovering from his shock, the priest nodded before going to the third trial, "The third trial is quite simple. You just have to kill them."

Ochieng's eyes lit up when he heard that the last trial would be simple but when he turned his head towards the direction the priest was pointing at, he felt light headed and nearly collapsed.
