Chapter 3 - (Chapter One) The Beginning of *Her* Story

//////////

I am a terrible person. You may not believe it right now, but it's the truth. I have done many horrible things and, though it may not seem like it, I have many awful secrets. I wrote this down as a record of what I've done and given it to the one person in this world who I think can stop me from doing anything crazy. I think you deserve to know this about me. I've been through a lot, so I don't know how I'll react in the future. If you aren't my twin, then I apologise for what's probably happening right now. Because you reading this means that my brother either gave you the password himself, or died. In the case of the first, then I am sorry for going seemingly insane for no reason and forcing you into this mess. In the case of the second... I'm sorry for killing him, he must have meant a lot to you. If it makes you feel any better, you must've meant a lot to him too.

In any case, I hope you enjoy my story.

A little girl skipped down the dirt road to her house. She had just received the top score in all of her classes, once again rewarded for her hard work with an early leave from school. She had an extremely good memory and formidable spirit. She was also very strong and perserverent, training her mind and body to the peak of her age group. To the limit of what their resources could give her, of course. If it wasn't for her magic, she and her family would surely have been sent to the capital so she could train.

Unfortunately, the girl was simply a strengthener, or ST. Meaning, she could enhance her strength. Though she was a particularly strong one, so it still would have made sense to send her. But, to her dismay, their town had found a Spell Caster, otherwise known as SC. Yes, she was strong, smart, and hard-working, but she palled in comparison to the usefulness of a SC. And her town couldn't afford to fund more than one person every twenty years. So, the girl was stuck.

She didn't mind though. She enjoyed the peacefulness of her little countryside town. The girl wanted to spend her entire life there. She had it planned out. She would go to the small 3 year college nearby, graduate, get a stable job, marry a nice boy, (preferably one that knew his place), and live out their life together, having two children.

She reached her house and entered through the front door. "Nelarma! Come take my backpack upstairs to my room!" Her little seven year old brother promptly entered the room, bowed slightly to her, and went to obey.

The girl smiled, patting her brother on the head. Here was the perfect example of what her future husband should look like! Nelarma had taken his lessons on hierarchy very well since the start. Naturally understanding his role with little need for the lashing stick. The young boy glanced up at his sister and looked at her confusedly.

"H-have I done something wrong, sister?" He stuttered hesitantly, knowing he hadn't been given permission to speak. However, he also knew what the consequences could be later if he didn't speak up now. He wouldn't want his sister to be unsatisfied with the punishment, causing even more trouble later. "If I have, p-please punish me properly. The hit on the head is too weak for sister to be satisfied, she doesn't have to go easy on me." He was careful when choosing his words, each one carefully thought over. He knew that, however cringy they were, they pleased his sister a lot.

The girl smiled. She was quite fond of this brother of hers, as he always knew the right words to please her rather than anger her. If he had said the words just a tad bit differently, they might have conveyed that she wasn't hitting hard enough, not on purpose, but accidentally. He would have put her slightly in the wrong, irritating her. "It was not a punishment, Nel, but a reward. For being such a good brother." She stated, then whispered, "{tell you what, how about i sneak some of my dessert into your room for you tonight?}"

Nelarma felt a small grin creep on to his face at the sound of his pet name, Nel. Whenever his sister said it, there were good things to come for him. This time it was dessert! When was the last time he had had dessert? His mother's birthday, if he remembered correctly. Still, he was hesitant. "{But what if madam hears of it? it is against the rules!}".

The girl waved away his worry. "Don't worry. Sister has just gotten back the results from the annual potential test. I will open it tonight at dinner. I know I did very well, so even if you got caught, I wouldn't get in trouble. Mother loves when I get good grades, remember."

[*face palm* I wasn't talking about you getting in trouble! I was worried about myself!]

"Oh, yes of course. Then thank you very much. Sister is truly the most generous." Nelarma spoke flowery words of praise to keep her from noticing any selfish thoughts he had had. He scolded himself for having such thoughts, especially right in front of her! Especially when she was willing to give him dessert!

Luckily, the object of his concern had already cut his presence out of her mind, daydreaming. Taking this as a dismissal, Nel quickly took the opportunity to leave and put away her backpack.

Later that night, Nel was disappointed, though not entirely surprised, when his sister didn't turn up with dessert.
