Chereads / World God Empress / Chapter 70 - The Aftermath

Chapter 70 - The Aftermath

A destructive like energy spread out from the spot where the old tomb had been. At this moment, waves of ripples surfaced in the empty air. The ripples spread and passed through the towering peak of a mountain in the clouds not far away. The peak of the mountain suddenly burst apart and the part where it cracked off from the main mountain was as smooth as a mirror.

Somewhere around six hundred kilometres from the old tomb, two flashing figures abruptly stopped in the sky. They suddenly raised their heads and eyed the place where their sight could not reach. An old face that was like tree bark and a graceful and noble looking beautiful face were covered with shock and disbelief.

Within Nanda Imperial City, a countless number of people lifted their heads foolishly and eyed the terrifying wave of explosions that had engulfed the sky. Even though it was thousands of meters away, the destruction wave still caused people to perspire profusely.

The huge city was completely silent. Everyone swallowed their saliva in their dry mouths. A panic spread from deep within their hearts. If this explosion was at Nanda Imperial City, this place might have been annihilated into a flat plain.

"Is this the destructive strength of a Saint, or maybe a God? How terrifying!" Everyone shivered and groaned weakly in their hearts.

In the blue sky, the destruction wave turned into an energy ripple as it violently surged outward. With the explosion at the centre, the surrounding living creatures within a certain boundary all received a destructive blow.

At the foot of the previous mountain where the old tomb was located, a completely snow white ice cover slowly cracked open. The ice fragments fell, finally exposing a young man in an almost completely incinerated black robe.

Currently, Ling Tian's face was totally pale. The corner of his mouth still faintly possessed a few blood stains. He randomly wiped off the blood stains with his hand, which was trembling without him noticing. In the terrifying explosion a moment ago, Ling Tian had used all of the strength he possessed in order to coagulate over forty layers of tough ice layer in an extremely short period of time.

Unbeknownst to him, he had also used his most precious life saving treasure 'Eternal Ice Wings' to survive from that explosion. The treasure activated itself as it felt the owner was in a great danger. Ling Tian might not have a King-grade weapon, but he got a Saint-Grade defensive treasure by a lucky chance.

Ling Tian himself was not aware of the true value of the treasure. Since the time he obtained the treasure, he had spent countless hours to understand the treasure but it was to no avail. He later just kept it as a good luck charm.

However, this defence which appeared tough and indestructible, appeared to be easily smashed apart under the explosion wave that possessed an extremely destructive strength. After the explosion wave shuttled past, none of the over forty ice layers, that had incredible defensive strength, remained.

"What the hell happened?" Thinking about the terrible fate he would be in if his defence was completely broken, Ling Tian's face turned green. His lips shivered as his hoarse voice sounded out. He did not realize that the necklace which was hanging around his neck had lost its crystal blue ice wings pendant.

Ling Tian's gaze swept around his surroundings and finally stopped on Erza's body which was suspended in midair with no one knowing if she was dead or alive.

Currently, over half of the red clothes on Erza's body was destroyed. The special plate armour that her Second Auntie had given to her had actually burst apart at this moment. Erza was totally in terrible state as her body was fully covered in injuries. If it was not for Ash's barrier, she would not be able to use her 'Time Paradox' in time and would definitely be dead by now.

Ling Tian tried his best to control his emotion as he just lost his two companions. He kept looking around but he found no one except for Erza.

Ling Tian dragged his weak body and quickly appeared beside Erza. He eyed Erza's unconscious miserable manner and immediately glanced at her true face. Surprise flashed across his eyes. Despite being in such a terrible state, she was still beautiful.

"A goddess is lying unconscious in front me… But it's truly a pity that I don't have the mood and the time to enjoy it." Eyeing Erza who was in a condition where her fate was unknown, Ling Tian laughed bitterly and shook his head.

His palm grabbed Erza's hand and roughly probed. He was surprised to find out that he was unable to check on Erza's condition. There was something inside her that was blocking his probing.

..............................…..

"Urrgghh…" Erza finally woke up a few hours later. Her body slowly recovered on her own. It was still painful though, so Erza kept lying down on the ground as she tried to sense her surroundings. It was already night.

She was then surprised to find out that most of her injuries were bandaged and she was actually covered in a blanket. Next, Erza heard the sound of footsteps coming toward her and soon a young man appeared before her.

"Thank you for your help. May I know what's your name?" Erza expressed her gratitude as she looked at the drenched-in-sweat Ling Tian.

Deep inside her heart, Erza was surprised that someone actually survived that blast. She only survived because of Ash's timely warning and help. Therefore, she was thinking perhaps there was something special about Ling Tian's body, bloodline, or soul. She would never imagine that a boy from this kind of small empire possessed a Saint-Grade defensive treasure.

Hearing the girl asked for his name, Ling Tian hesitated. He was prepared to give her the fake name 'Tian Yi' that he made up, but at this moment, Erza said, "There is no need to say it if you find it inconvenient."

Although Ling Tian's hesitation was not very evident, Erza still noticed it. If he had some special bloodline or came from a secret martial cultivation family, then he might be reluctant to disclose his identity.

The two fell into a brief lull of silence. Ling Tian sat cross-legged on the ground as he was trying to restore his body to its peak condition. In addition, he was thinking whether to tell Erza about himself or not. He originally had cautious personality. Years of adventures taught him to never disclose his true identity easily.

Erza had also been sitting in meditation and recovering her condition. Her eyes were glued onto Ling Tian as he practiced. Next, she noticed the light aura around his body which gave her a peculiar feeling.

"Don't worry. I have been keeping my eyes on him since you are unconscious. He has not done anything which bring harm to you so far." Ash's voice resounded in her mind. Erza was relieved to hear that and she was also happy that Ash was alright.

"By the way, this young man is truly extraordinary. He has actually comprehended a True Will at such a young age."

Erza gasped. She previously thought that he was just a trivial young man of the backwater empire, but he kept surprising her over and over again. First, he had survived the explosion, and now, he had actually comprehended a True Will!

It had to be known that Erza's true strength had reached the late stage of Knight Realm, and had even taken a half-step into the peak of Knight Realm. To someone at her talent, there were very few things that could surprise her. Even the top geniuses of large clans and great families would only earn a little nod from her.

A True Will was exceedingly rare. In tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of practitioners, there might not be a single person that had comprehended one. It was an incomparably precious ability. It was not something that came from talent or practice. Rather, it could only be created by one's own hands.

If parents were talents, then their children would mostly be talented too. Large clans and guilds have gone through thousands upon thousands of years of accumulated development and the screening of individuals in order to produce countless talents.

The strong enjoyed more resources, while the weak were eliminated. The ones that remained were the elite of the elite. The children of these extraordinary characters would also be extraordinary.

While being an amazing talent, they would also have limitless precious pills and rare elixirs growing up. They could use true essence stones as they pleased, have top-tier practice methods and skills, and also have the best master and teachers. They were destined to set foot into the King Realm. Even if an average person of a small empire practiced for a lifetime, he still wouldn't even touch their toes; this was the result of the difference in birth.

But even to these young talents of large clans, for a 17-18 year old to reach the middle stage of Knight Realm, and simultaneously comprehend a True Will, this sort of thing could only be considered serendipity.

One's heart and True Will were related. The purer and more substantive one's heart of cultivation, the higher their chances of being able to comprehend a True Will. But to the majority of geniuses in the large guilds and families, they had lived their lives peacefully and were free of worries.

At the start of their path, their parents had already paved their road with riches. By only traveling across vast, flat lands, how could they possibly have a strong heart?

To those that had suffered the tribulations of torment and suffering, traveling the bumpy road of life, being born short of resources and not even having much talent, it would be difficult for them to break through to the Knight Realm even in their twenties. However, it wasn't too strange or fearful for someone like this to comprehend a True Will.

But this young man in front of her, he was quite young and yet so ridiculously strong for his cultivation. Not only that, but he had also comprehended a True Will. He was simply an evil omen, a monstrous genius!

Not having realized it, Erza's gaze had filled with curiosity.

This boy had some many unusual secrets; just who was he? What had he experienced?

A quarter hour quietly slipped by. Under the help of the his True Will, Ling Tian was able to quickly recover from his injuries. Some were still there, but nothing was serious.

He rose up, saying, "Let's go. It's getting late. I have been roaming this area for a while and I found nothing except us and a cave which I assume is the tomb. Let's have a decent rest there. What do you think?"

"No rescue or other people coming?" Erza found it strange that such a great explosion did not cause Nanda Empire's Emperor Realm experts to come here.

However, as soon as she said that, she realized that there was a light screen high above the sky. And it looked exactly like the previous seal. However, it was much stronger and bigger.

"Looks like you have realized the reason. Yes, we are sealed inside this place." Ling Tian said that and started to walk toward the cave.

Erza took out a recovery pellet and swallowed it before following Ling Tian forwards.
