"Who are you?! Are you someone from Lan Clan? Who is Lan Gui to you?" The Soul Devouring Demon King was totally shocked.
He indeed felt a strong demonic aura coming from Beel's blood which was why he called him a young prince earlier. Nevertheless, it never crossed his mind that the boy who was standing in front of him was actually someone from THAT clan.
"I'm not someone from Lan Clan as there is no more Lan Clan in this world. As for Lan Gui, he is my father."
It was a pity that Erza had lost her consciousness at this time. She did not hear the things which she had been waiting for the most in these past few months. She was waiting for the moment Beel told her about himself.
"Impossible!" The Soul Devouring Demon King roared.
"Why? If someone like you was able to survive from that war, then why could not someone from a noble clan like my father also survive?..... So how about you become my subordinate now?" Beel sneered.
"Hmph, if Lan Gui is personally standing in front of me right now, I might give him face. However, just because you are his son, it is not enough to make me cower in fear."
The Soul Devouring Demon King roared once again as he suddenly took off to the air. He shot a claw out towards Beel and a thick and dense darkness that seemed to come from a devil god that dwelt in the depths of a deep abyss shot out from his body to engulf Beel. He wanted to use that darkness energy to imprison Beel before using his sinister methods to interrogate him about the current world.
Beel steeled himself as he tried to push aside his fear and desire to flee but the dread that welled up in his soul and his body's instinctual desire to cower in fear was incomparably intense. The pressure from this devil simply wasn't something a mortal's body could bear. Beel being able to endure up to this point was already difficult beyond belief.
His body was still being wracked by uncontrollable trembling and he gritted his teeth so hard that he had nearly broken a few of them. However, the dread in his heart instantly turned into a violent rage…
"Sacrifar!! Man to Darkness!"
There was a low humming sound coming from the sword before it released an unbelievable dark energy which covered every inches of Beel's body.
Beel then shot into the air at the same time as he embraced the darkness energy that he was barely able to resist. While he gave vent to his emotions with a great roar, he poured all of his energy into his black sword without reservation as he smashed it towards the boundless darkness before him.
It was at this exact moment that Beel suddenly saw the absolute darkness clearing before his very eyes and the true appearance of the Soul Devouring Demon King was finally revealed to him.
Beel did not have the time to be amazed by these changes or even think about them. Because in the very next instant, the black sword had heavily collided with the vortex of dark energy that had been conjured by the Soul Devouring Demon King.
*Rippppp!!*
The dreadful vortex of dark energy was sliced cleanly in two by the Sacrifar, as if it was simply a pitch-black curtain. The dark devil energy that rushed out did not attempt to rush up and devour Beel. Instead, it curled back as if in fear before twisting backwards as it fled desperately… as if it had come face to face with the one thing in the world that it feared the most.
The incomparably dreadful vortex of darkness had been dispersed with a single blow. Beel stared at the now empty space in front of him with with blank eyes as he could barely believe what he had just witnessed. The Soul Devouring Demon King was equally stunned.
At this time, Beel finally came back to his senses. His heart no longer felt any fear or pressure as he quickly dashed and appeared in front of the Soul Devouring Demon King, smashing the black sword down fiercely on the devil's chest.
"ARGGHHHHHHH!!"
A hoarse and shrill cry blanketed the entire dungeon. Even though Beel's blow had been hastily struck, it still carried the force of a tremendous amount of weight and sent the Soul Devouring Demon King flying.
Beel did not give chase. He only stood there, rooted in place… All he heard was the Soul Devouring Demon King's shrill and miserable wails, which did not die out until a long time later.
An ancient devil who had survived the calamity a million years ago, who had a mighty devil body, had actually let out such a shrill and miserable wail after being struck by Beel's sword… It was as if he had suffered the cruelest punishment in this world.
The Soul Devouring Demon King's pitch-black body heavily smashed against a stone wall that was three hundred meters away before it flopped to the ground. But he did not stand up. Instead, he began to roll on the ground as he let out cries that spoke of incomparable agony.
As for the place where the black sword had struck his chest, it was astonishingly marked with a glaring blue wound.
"Devil… devil slayer… sword!!"
The Soul Devouring Demon King's voice had been warped by pain but the three words 'devil slayer sword' had clearly been uttered with deep dread. Some experts might recognize Beel's sword as Sacrifar, however his other name was actually Devil Slayer Sword. The name which brought terror to every devil's heart.
"Hmph, and here I thought you are a big and tough guy!" Beel snorted triumphantly. He had regained his confidence.
Shortly after that, Beel's aura steadily climbing from an early Knight to the upper stage of Knight realm. He decided to display his true strength. After all, Erza was currently unconscious.
"Father was right. The moment an ancient devil is wounded by the Devil Slayer Sword, the pain it endures is a thousand times greater and the time the wound takes to recover is also ten times slower than usual! So devils who are more pure than others will fear the Devil Slayer Sword even more!"
In addition, lightning was originally the bane of all demons, devils, and evil spirits. A million years ago, the ancient Lan Clan was a mighty and noble clan exactly because of this reason. The nature of their signature 'Beelzebub Emperor Art' was lightning.
Furthermore, since ancient times, every patriarch of Lan Clan would always be called 'Beelzebub', the Archdevil of Slaughter!
After the dust settled, Beel was surprised to see the devil's true appearance. The previous demon wolf appearance was actually an illusion.
The real Soul Devouring Demon King was nearly five metres tall with black light radiating from his body. His skin was a deep gray colour while his hair was bone-white, trailing all the way to his feet.
At first glance, besides the Soul Devouring Demon King's enormous build and the dusky hue of his skin, his appearance was basically no different from a human's. Having to hide from the light of day for ten thousand years, Beel had thought that the Demon King would be exceedingly ugly and looked like an old ghost.
To his surprise, the Soul Devouring Demon King's features, while warped in pain, were exceptionally handsome, from a human's perspective. Furthermore, he did not look much older than a thirty year old man.
"Was Lan Gui insane? He passed down a True Devil Artifact to a youngster? Or is he dead now?" The Soul Devouring Demon King was totally bewildered.
After a while, the devil finally stood up, but he remained in a hunched posture and the gray hand that he held to the wound on his chest continued to tremble. Beel could still see that blue light leaking out from between the gaps of his fingers and it did not seem to be weakening in the slightest.
Beel did not reply his questions as he felt there was no need to do that.
"Very good!" The Soul Devouring Demon King's face was warped by fury. He slowly straightened up and began striding towards Beel, "It is indeed not important for this king to concern myself with that sword! Because the conclusion will be the same regardless! To think that a mixed blood bastard such as yourself could actually inflict such pain on this king... Unforgivable!!"
"This king will grind all your bones into dust!!"
As his voice fell, all of the dark energy in his surrounding began to surge and roil. He was only about one hundred steps away from Beel as well. He had originally believed that every step he took towards the boy would be like the footfalls of death itself as it pressed on in this lowly human, causing his entire body to tremble with fear, his courage to completely melt away and ultimately ending with Beel turning tail to flee.
However, unexpectedly right now, the only thing he saw was the cold smile that played across Beel's face.
On the contrary, it was the Soul Devouring Demon King who felt like his heart was being weighed down by one crushing boulder after another with every step he took. Furthermore, the blue light radiating from Beel's sword was especially unbearable, it caused him immense discomfort and he did not even dare to look at it directly.
This natural repulsion he felt towards the light that he recognized as a great threat to his own life.
Next, all of the devil energy in his body swelled up as deep gray devilish markings lit up on his back. In an instant, the roiling dark devil energy formed into a enormous black shadow behind him. This black shadow was tens of meters tall and it had nine sinuous heads which twisted about, as if it was the legendary monster, the Nine-headed Hydra!
A brutal and frenzied aura which promised pain leaked out from that shadow, causing all of the energy in the dungeon to grow frenzied as well. After that, the black shadow dissolved into nine beams of dark energy which sizzled towards Beel.
Beel remained fearless and resolute, a corner of his mouth hooked into a cold smile as his black sword abruptly grew bigger. Next, all the joints of his body creaked as Beel swung the Devil Slayer Sword which currently weighed nearly five hundred thousand kilograms.
Blue lightnings ran along the body of the heavy sword as it instantly generated a rampaging, all-consuming thunderstorm which smashed heavily against the nine beams of dark devil energy.
The beams of dark devil energy were completely swallowed by the onrushing thunderstorm and in that instant, the space in that area completely shattered. The colour of the wind changed as deafening energy explosions and the extremely terrible shrill sound of something being devoured rang in the air for a long time.
For the levels of power being shown by Beel and the Soul Devouring Demon King, their current place was far too small a battlefield to contain their fight. Both of their powers clashed fiercely and it seemed like the entire earth was shaking.
The clothes on Beel's body had been ripped to shreds but the pupils of his eyes released a deep blue light. He lashed out with the Devil Slayer Sword again and again and each slash was accompanied by an earth-shattering boom.
*Boom! Boom! Boooom...*
Beel had made more than ten continuous slashes, forcing those nine beams of devil energy more than thirty metres into the distance, not allowing a single one to approach his body. The attack which had used about seventy percent of the Soul Devouring Demon King's power had been completely blown away.
After that, the devil's body shot out like a rocket and two black hands which seemed to emerge from the deepest abyss, streaming with the extremely dense dark devil energy, was aiming at Beel's throat.
*Boom!!*
Beel managed to parry the attack with his sword.
At the next moment, all the bones in Beel's body made small popping sounds and his originally dull blue eyes became filled with frenzy and killing intent. Before the aftershock of the previous attack had completely dispersed, he suddenly somersaulted through the air as he smashed his sword toward the Soul Devouring Demon King.
"Pathetic human being… if it's just you alone, you can stop dreaming of matching blows with this king!!"
The Soul Devouring Demon King gave a roar of extreme fury as both his claws shot out. At the same time, the pitch-black devilish light suddenly expanded and swelled by tens of metres. The darkness energy swept forward, intending to smash the Devil Slayer Sword into pieces, reducing it to nothingness.
*Boom! Boom! Boom! Boooom...*
Blue lightnings exploded violently and darkness energy wreaked havoc all over the place. Within the space of a few breaths, the lightnings and the devilish light had clashed against each other one hundred times as the small battlefield seemed to be engulfed in an apocalyptic calamity.
If this was not a unique dungeon, then even if it was an island that was five hundred kilometres wide, it would have been completely obliterated by now.
