Years on years and time always marched forward for the young plant form. It had never experienced hardship really, or anything that could be considered a hindrance to its development. It merely tried different things and utilized the energy of the world to grow in whatever way felt right.
From splintering and spreading roots, to creating a bulbous source not unlike that of a budding flower to store the millions of years of universe energy it could harness, it had always taken a safe action to ensure its own existence.
The world of this existence always consisted of the silent and unmoving world of stone. Stretching roots out indefinitely. However, on one particular day a strange sensation occurred nearby one of its extended root structures.
It could feel a creature different from the small insects it was used to. Something larger. The creature exposed a series of roots, however that was the extent of the abilities of the creature. So the plant-like existence merely ignored the other existence, seeing no relevance to it and its own survival.
Night had begun to set though, and over the course of a blink of an eye, the perspective of the ancient existence changed. In a flash, the other existence went from being completely irrelevant, to vital to its rebirth.
From this other creature it felt an energy that caused every cell in the nearby roots to vibrate with intensity and hunger. It was momentary, but in that moment it wrapped the source of that energy up with an extremely strong root structure.
Time passed with no change. The existence stayed where it was and as far as the plant could tell, it chose not to try to escape.
The reality was that Noone - the other existence - tried to escape numerous times but was unable to even move the roots which bound him.
Despite the energy source seemingly disappearing as fast as it occurred, the existence that was the plant cared not. To it, knowing that it had bound the source was more than enough. Even if it took a million years for another trickle of energy to pour from it, it was more energy than it would have if it had not reacted.
Eventually, after a time, another trickle of energy came from a nearby source from the first, seeming to emanate from the same creature. It bound up that source as well.
Noone, in the tunnel underneath, was now bound by both wrists, and was attempting not to panic.
Just from the minuscule amount of life force the root had managed to procure, to the plant it meant another drop of energy it did not have to wait to gather for its rebirth.
Suddenly, the energy it had felt overwhelmed the two roots which were binding the creature. There was a surge of energy which sent the entire root system shivering in excitement and desire. Like a sun, it could sense the radiance coming off the other existence and it knew that it must not waste even a single drop.
Thus, Noone was wrapped in a cocoon of roots that continuously drained energy out of his body.
To the source. Noone's body shot through the stone, pulled by roots, to the source of the existence. Seeing Noone as no threat to its rebirth, the existence merely wanted the energy source as close as possible to not lose a single iota of energy.
Gradually, the energy source which was bound by roots was used up. The roots hung on, being sure not to miss a single wave that could be used or stored for power.
So close… form core…
The power gained from utilizing Noone's life force was minuscule in the grand scheme of things. But it was more than enough to begin the next phase of existence for the plant. To create the core.
Like a clam which uses a grain of sand as a core to a beautiful pearl, this rare and spectacular breed of tree would begin to gather particulates to serve as a core for the seed.
After being sure that the existence it was holding to would give no more energy, it quickly released the existence sending the roots back to their respective positions. There was no regard given for the other existence after this point, for anything that could not help it achieve rebirth, was useless.
The plant began to open pore sized holes in the pod which would serve as the seed holder. Gradually it started the tedious task of gathering particulate in the air until there was enough for a core.
Of course, to the plant there was no tedium involved. It was merely what it must do next. Thus, was the gift of being a plant.
Suddenly and without ceremony, a large hole was ripped into the bottom of the pod. Reacting quickly, the existence did everything in its power to keep any energy it had stored from draining out of the hole.
In the process though, it was still absorbing particulate for the core, and it felt inside the bulb was something the perfect size for a core.
Noone's hand, which had pierced into the plant, was wrapped up in a delicate tendril, and lifted towards the center of the budding flower. With it though, came an arm, and a head, and a torso. A whole body was lifted into the bud, far more than the plant had been bargaining for.
But such was the simple-mindedness of this existence. In a controlled environment untainted by the existence of others, after another million years it would have thrived by relying on instinct. Now though, with the inclusion of another variable, it was forced to be reactive to things which it could not possibly understand or know how to react to.
Reactive to things such as a lifeless body, which had been accidentally pulled into a budding flower full of millions of years of universe energy painstakingly gathered at the end of the world.
Being a plant, it merely reacted based on a set of primal instincts. And right now, those instincts were telling it to maintain the core.
Noone had become the core, and the last piece of life force which had gone undetected and maintained him through unconsciousness, was beginning to fade.
Now though, the plant could sense that last Iota of life force. Floating and dimming quickly within the core of Noone's body.
All stops were pulled, and chaos ensued within this pod only a few meters in diameter. The core must be protected if it were to be reborn, or so it felt by instinct. Sadly, for the existence, instinct could not predict the situation it was in. How could a human body serve as the core for a plant seed?
