Chapter 28 - Man on the ground*

A man was seen lying on the ground.  His face was pale and there were no signs of scars, it was clean and handsome as always, but his body showed otherwise as it was somewhat deformed. The lower body and upper arm were constantly shedding blood more and more, sooner it dyed the ground and scattered around, like a dark red rose.

The lower part of his body and his forearm were constantly shedding blood. Soon, it pooled around him, dyed the ground and scattered around, like a dark red rose blossoming under him.

An old lady shouted in panic when she what unfold before her eyes, "AAHH! He jumped from the 10th floor!"

"Isn't this Ashay? Why did he fall? Is it suicide?" Someone voiced out who recognized the young man.

"First call an ambulance, for rescue?" One wasn't sure if Ashay was in the condition for rescue or could be brought directly to the morgue.

"Such a young fellow committing suicide. It's such a pity."

"He is just around 25- 26 years old."

"Yeah. His company went bankrupt,so  how can he not want to find death?"

A woman, dressed in messy clothing, rushed towards the bloody young man. Everyone's attention turned to her as they heard her mournful cries, "Ash! How could you do this?! You're just leaving our child and me alone?! What should I do now? Oh..."

The police car and the ambulance arrived. They took him to a nearby hospital.

It was heavily raining, and the roads were jammed. Ira stopped the car at the gate and ran to the hospital in the rain. She was dragged into the intensive care unit by Clara. The sight paralyzed her.

Medical instruments surrounded Ash. Nose pipe for mechanical Ventilation. Heart Monitor was beeping. Later on, the police car and the ambulance arrived. They immediately took him to a nearby hospital.

It was raining heavily and the roads were jammed.

Ira stopped her car at the hospital gate and ran to the hospital despite the hard gush of rain. She was suddenly dragged into the intensive care unit by Clara, the woman who never left Ashay's side.

When Ira entered the room, the sight paralyzed her whole being; medical instruments surrounded her brother's body, a nose pipe was attached from the mechanical ventilation, and the heart monitor's beeps engulfed the silent room.

"He jumped from the window. The doctors were not too optimistic about his condition. They said that his life was weakly clinging, his breathing is barely holding on, and he could die any time!" Clara hiccupped.

Ira couldn't bare listening to anything. Her gazed directly at the man on the bed. Suddenly, she felt that everything around her was all particularly unreal.

She had just gotten a letter from Ashay then followed by Clara's call to rush to the hospital. Ira was still standing at the same place, confusion evident on her face.

How did Ashay become like this? Why would he commit suicide?

Ashay can be rebellious and can make trouble, but how could he look so frail, say death and die?

Ira stepped forward then grabber her brother's shoulders: "Ash, wake up!" Her voice was so violent that everyone stared at her.

"Beep-beep..beep.beep" The ECG detector suddenly screamed. The doctor and nurse rushed in for the first aid.

Ira was stupid. She was taken out of the ward by the staffs but she held tightly on the door and did not let go, even if she was forcefully being pushed outside. Without the hope of entering again, she screamed to him, "Ash! You have to wake up! I won't blame you if you get up!"

"Stay with me, brother!"

Ira was eventually dragged out of the room. When the door was closed, nothing could be seen what was happening inside as she waited with an anxious face.

Everything was unreal.

"It's just a prank," She convinced herself and shook her head.

It wasn't long after she was dragged out, the ICU's door opened and a doctor came out with a sullen face, "I'm sorry. He's gone."

"You! You killed Ash!" Clara shouted with deep pain, her face stained with dried tears.

"You're the one who blamed him for your company's end. You have always criticized him! Yes, he made a mistake but couldn't you just forgive your brother?"

Ira felt that her soul left her body. She panicked and shouted, "I… I… didn't! I didn't really mean it!", She couldn't even defend herself.
