Sitting on his bed, a boy was shouting while holding his phone in both hands.
" Shit, more noobs. Got me killed again. What shitty luck. "
" Oh, man nowadays there are many players playing this game and most of them are noobs who don't know how to play and get whole squad killed" muttered the boy to himself.
Now the boy stood up from his bed and went to the dresser in front of his bed. Stood there for a second then said with a sigh.
" With me being so handsome, why is that i don't have a girlfriend."
All his friends went with their girlfriends to the beach but here he was playing MLBB on his cell phone on this hot day.
Being honest, he wasn't that handsome, that girls would fall in love with him at the first sight. Now that he stood there, it was easier to see his figure. He looked like he was in his late 20's . He had a normal face with blue eyes and blone hair. He wasn't that tall, maybe around 5'11 or six feet. He was Caucasian in origin, maybe he was English. His name was Milo Stankovic
Suddenly, his stomach grumbled
" It's time for lunch, eh. "
"Let's go grab some lunch and then it will be time for my evening nap"
He picked up his phone and left his room after locking it. Swinging his keys and keeping them in his pocket, he made his way to university's mess.
"Let's get rice and chicken curry today"
Ordering his food, he sat down at a table near him and began to contemplate about his life.
He was a postgraduate. Now, he was pursuing his doctorate degree from a premier institute in the country. For all he can remember, from the moment he was introduced to physics, he has been in love with it. His dream was to win a Noble Prize in Physics. He had won International Physics Olympiad in his last year of highschool. Then he went to one of the best universities of the country and did his graduation and post graduation.
But now he was having second thoughts whether he chose the right path or not. Some of his school classmates were already getting six figures salary and were living the time of their lives but here he was still studying, making projects, preparing for internals, externals.
He was worn out by now, all that knowledge was about to burst out of his brain. He wanted to quit but couldn't. He was afraid that when he had come so far, he should hang on for a little bit of time more, complete his doctorate and become a professor or something and then he would be set for rest of his life. So, he decided to complete his doctorate. He also didn't want to quit because of his family.
Milo hailed from a middle class family. His father was the only source of income and as everyone knows education is costly. His parents had invested all their life savings on him and though he had the help of scholarships, it wasn't enough. On top of it his sister was about to graduate high school, so now it would be on his shoulder to bear the expenses of his sister.
What he didn't know was that life had something else for him. Lunch was served by now.
He finished his lunch in about fifteen minutes and then made his way directly to his dorm room. As soon as he entered his room, he collapsed on his bed and waited for sleep to come over him.
Around four in evening, Milo's eyes fluttered. He rubbed his eyes in order to open his eyes completely but when they did open, his eyes grew bigger as he was stunned from what he saw. There was sky above him, he looked around and realized that he was lying on the ground and his surroundings were unknown to him.
"What the f*** is this?" he muttered to himself.
He looked around frantically, trying to understand where exactly he was. He tried to recall his memories, trying to know how he end up in this unknown place but last thing he remembered was going to sleep in his dorm room.
"Who's playing a prank on me, son of a bitch I'll kill you. " He yelled in frustration. Hoping it was some prank by one of his friends but got no reply.
"Come out, whoever it is. This is getting serious" He again spoke but in a low yet intimidating voice. He tried his best to mask the fear from his face.
When he got no reply, he started to panic. The fear that he tried his best to hide, began to creep on his face. Several thoughts invade his mind. He wanted to know where he was but more than that he wanted to get out of there. This unknown surrounding was scaring him more than one could imagine.
He started to walk as he needed to find a way out of there. After walking a short distance, he noticed that he was in a forest but it was a kind of forest he had never seen before. Sometimes he would go on a trekking trip, so he knew at least that forest weren't supposed to look like they were looking at this unknown place. Here vegetation was way different from what he knew.
Vegetation here had a reddish tinge as if they were sprayed with blood. As Milo went forward, his fear started to increase. He saw trees here were around of average 200-250 meters in height. Back home, tallest tree was around 118m. As he tried to see crown of a tree he noticed something, that there were two distinct shadows of trees. Two shadows meant there were two sources of light and as he raised his head he saw that there was a sun in the sky but as he moved his head slightly backwards to his horror he saw a second sun.
"Where the fuck I am I?" Milo asked himself.
And as he tried to reexamine the second sun, tears started to flow from his eyes. His mind was invaded by the faces of his family, his parents, his younger sister. He thought that how would they cope without him, they had bet everything on him and more tears started to flow. Eventually, he stopped crying. He can't give up like this. No, he can't and he won't.
He thought since he came here then there should also be a way to go back. He started wandering around and started touching, smelling cautiously trying to get familiar with the surroundings. After 2 hours or so he got tired and thirsty, so he decided to find a water source. He chose a direction and started walking, luckily after walking for 30 mins he heard sound of running water.
He was delighted and started running towards it. After reaching the bank, he finally saw water and he was shocked. He had never ever seen such a crystal clear water. He could see all the aquatic organisms living in it.
He hurriedly bent down and took water in his hand, even though he was a hygienic person back at home, the one who would never eat or drink anything that is unhealthy or is not fully refined but right now that was his least concern.
As he started to drink water, the water tasted sweet in his mouth. After drinking to his fill, he sat down by river and started thinking. He knew that many settlements were located near water sources, so he decided to follow river. Now, next problem was how to procure food.
"Let's try my hand at fishing now. "
He had some experience in fishing from trekking, so all he had to do was make a trap for fishes since he had no fishing rod.
Next problem was safety, he was sure there would be wild animals here and they would be powerful because he had seen some birds sweeping down to catch fishes. They had enormous size, reaching around 5 to six metres in wingspan. So he decided to make a spear.
Following three days, he caught fish, roasted them and followed river. Sometimes he would see some predator chasing it's prey or sometimes beasts fighting with each another. One thing to notice among his past three days' experience was that beasts here were enormous and powerful. Some even had weird powers right out of fantasy books. Once he saw a grey tiger wielding lightning fight with a black bear who was tough as a mountain. It really amazed him that how these beast were so extraordinary. But one thing was certain that if he intervened amongst them, he would be killed with a snap of a finger. So he maintained a minimum distance from them.
On his fourth day of travel, he saw smoke in the air. He was elated and began to make way towards the place where smoke was coming from. After some walking, he saw some houses in the distance. Some children were playing. Men were chopping wood. Women were cooking food out in the open. As he saw this ,he knew that he would be safe now.
Many years has passed since Milo woke up in that unknown place, his desperate want to save himself lead him to a village near a river. A Man similar to Milo but with some signs of ageing was sitting on the bank of that very river which saved him, twenty years ago. Staring at river, his mind wandered back to the time when he first came there. He started to speak to his female companion.
"This river reminds me of old times. How I came to this world. When I was alone and lonely. How I survived the ordeals after ordeals."
The woman beside him, just shrugged her shoulders and replied without looking at him.
"What's the use of talking about it? There should be a way for you to go back. We'll find it together "
As she finished speaking, she looked towards the river and tried to follow man's gaze.
She suddenly spoke
"Hey, do you see that? "
"See what?" asked the man.
She pointed her finger towards something in the river.
"See there, there is something floating on the river. A boat or something. "
"Yeah, You're right. Let's go over and check"
"Okay" said the woman
As they started moving, suprisingly they didn't start walking on land but on the surface of river. They were taking steps with such elegance, one would doubt it as dancing.
As they drew closer, they saw it was a boat. A small boat. But the boat was made with care and craftmanship. As they saw the insignia on the boat, they were shocked. Man started to speak first.
"Leslie, you recognize the insignia, don't you?? "
"Yes" said the lady
"So, you must know it's trouble whatever is inside that boat"
as the man finished speaking, a cry was heard from inside the boat.
"Milo, you heard that, right? " said Leslie
"Yes "
as he said that he moved inside and saw an infant barely an year old, crying and as he picked him up he got a message inside his brain. It was a soul message, meant for his soul.
As the message finished, he said to his wife
" We have to get out of here right now"
"Why?" asked Leslie
"No time for that. I've got the kid and you get the boat. I'll explain it to you on the way.
"Okay" as soon as she said that the boat magically disappeared into the thin air and the three of them left the place.
