Chapter 8 - Disturbance

After making sure he had a solid foundation in all of the techniques of the Lightning Inheritance Tower, Li Tengfei started cultivating some more since he had met a bottleneck in those techniques because of a lacking cultivation.

------------------------------------------------

A week and a half went by in the blink of an eye. For others, nothing big seemed to have happened during that time period. But for Li Tengfei, it was entirely different. Not only did he break through to the second level of Body Refinement, he also reached mid-stage. In addition, he reached the first level of the body strengthening technique, allowing him to ignore attacks from level ones.

During this time he also gained an insight about cultivation:

'Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person.'

When Elder Ye found out about his progress, he was on the verge of spurting a mouthful of blood.

'Is that disciple of mine even human?'.

After Li Tengfei told him about the insight he got while cultivating, Elder Ye began to question his life. He wasn't his disciple's match in terms of talent and now his disciple came up with such a deep insight. Compared to him who never got the slightest insight about cultivation, this random kid he picked up on the street was so much better...

Nevertheless, since Li Tengfei was his disciple, Elder Ye felt a sense of joy and pride. So when he learnt his disciple wanted to get a sword, Elder Ye immediately brought him to the Master Blacksmith in the sect where he paid for the best sword they could get.

----------------------------------------

At Elder Zhou's forgery, Elder Zhou introduced himself to Li Tengfei. In fact Old Zhou was one of the Elders of the sect. He was not as strong as Elder Ye but was the only Master Blacksmith around which, coupled with his wisdom, helped him become an Elder of the sect.

Elder Ye and Elder Zhou were old friends and when he learned of the circumstances, he could not help but praise Li Tengfei whom he thought had even greater talent than Lu Mingyu and An Zihao who were the top geniuses of the clan.

Elder Zhou tried his best to make the greatest sword he could. To entertain Li Tengfei and prevent him from getting bored, he let him participate while Elder Ye was leisurely watching them.

After some time, Elder Zhou was left flabbergast by Li Tengfei who showed great talent in forging when he assisted him.

"Say litttle Fei, have you ever assisted a blacksmith before?"

"Elder is right. I had indeed helped the local blacksmith forge weapons back then."

To confirm his suspicions, Elder Zhou let Li Tengfei separately forge a small dagger to test out his skills. A few hours later, Li Tengfei had finished and presented him the result.

After this, Elder Zhou was even more speechless... a fourteen year old kid who had forging abilities almost on par with a Master Blacksmith. Such potential... he could even become a legendary Grandmaster Blacksmith in the future.

After negotiating with Elder Ye, they decided that Li Tengfei would engage in the profession of a blacksmith with Elder Zhou as from the week after. Li Tengfei who always had some interest in forging was also happy.

After a while, Li Tengfei's new sword was ready. The sword was made of a special type of steel which was incredibly strong. Overall, the sword was so sharp that it could cut through a rock as if it were butter. The hilt looked like the head of a Wyvern. Crystals were set as the eyes. A simple glance is enough to determine the value of this sword.

Noticing the admiration in Li Tengfei's eyes, Elder Zhou added :

"Not bad, huh? This sword contains the element of lightning making it even more powerful in the hands of those cultivating the Dao of lightning like you. Since Wyverns are the animals representing the element of lightning, I even made the hilt in the shape of the head of a Wyvern.

This sword is a low-tier spirit sword which is very valuable. You should take good care of it since it will accompany you for a long time.

You should also give it a name, shouldn't you?"

After a moment of careful deliberation, Li Tengfei suddenly got a flash of inspiration and exclaimed:

"Let's name it Brilliance, then. I am sure this sword will shine brightly in my hands!"

"How suiting does this name sound for this sword!"

"Little guy, by your aura, I am sure you are destined to do great things in the future, so I offer you this sword free of charge. Just remember, the next time you need a weapon, come see me!" The old blacksmith smiled from ears to ears as he looked fondly at Li Tengfei.

-------------------

After saying goodbye to Elder Zhou, Li Tengfei and his master strolled about aimlessly in the crowded streets of Xuanwu city. Suddenly, Elder Ye frowned and took out a similar shaped token to the one Li Tengfei received from An Zihao. It was glowing red like hot iron. Worry could be seen on his wrinkled face.

"Looks like a small trouble occurred at the sect. Li Tengfei, you stay here as it may be dangerous for you with your low cultivation. Here is 10000 coins. Go spend it while waiting for me. Remember, do not go to the sect before I tell you to. It is safer inside the city walls." Then with a 'whoosh', Elder Ye disappeared from Li Tengfei's sight.

"What could have happened to even make Elder Ye worry like that? If only I was stronger, I could have helped him a bit." Li Tengfei's personality was like that. If someone was good to him, he would lessen his guard against him first, then try to see if he does not have any underhanded motives, afterwards, he would return the person's kindness by many folds. He would do his utmost to repay the favor. However, Li Tengfei would never be lenient to his enemies.

'Well, at least, I can act like a nouveau riche with all this money.' Li Tengfei eyed all the coins he received from Old Ye and he was already planning on how to spend it.

'Hey, Ancestor Li! Now what should we buy to increase my cultivation?' Li Tengfei thought in his mind.

'Don't disturb me! Brat, do you think cultivation resources are like cabbages in a market! Cultivation should be with your own blood and tears. I have seen countless geniuses fall due to an unstable cultivation. If you think you can reach my level solely with resources, you are severely mistaken!' Ancestor Li reprimanded Li Tengfei.

'Almost everything here is trash. However, I detect an appealing fragrance through your bloodline. Head East! Maybe there is something valuable among all these trash!' Every seller in the city would have puked out blood from rage if they could here Ancestor Li talk.
