As the sun set, darkness encroached upon the camp. Seraph looked around nervously and shivered, she had always loathed the dark. She inched closer to the bonfire the heat attacked her skin, she smiled. Escaping the darkness was worth enduring the unbearable heat.
Seraph turned her head and looked at Ian. His face was stone cold and his eyes gazed off into the distance.
"Ian, I can't wait to go to the beach next week. I'm tired of the cold weather" seraph growed. " What beach do you think we should go to?"
Ian silence seemed eternal, his frown deepened as his eyebrows arched.
Determined Seraph continued "I heard that vincent coast has the most beautiful wat…"
"ENOUGH" Ian roared. His dull face contorted back to life and displayed a horrible expression." I am tired of you Seraph! You are the most needy and boring person I have ever met!"
Seraphs felt a lump in her throat but the assault didn't stop.
"The only reason why I even go out with you is because of my mom." "Genial women are the foundation to a man's life" he mimicked. " I am done with your never ending optimism and joy, frankly it's obnoxious. I'm done with you Seraph."
As Ian's voice echoed into the night, his last sentence reverberated in her ears. Her eyes swelled up and wells of tears collected into her ducts. She lunged at him, grabbing his arm.
"Please Ian, Please" She cried "I'll do anything, just please give me another chance."
Ian rolled his eyes in annoyance, "Let go of me pest!"
He tried to pry her arms away from him, but it was futile. Her iron grip had even managed to become tighter! Profound rage boiled within Ian, he stood up and shook her off him. Seraph began to fall down but something was not right.
Her back felt like it was ablaze and she screamed. She was falling into the bonfire, Seraph desperately looked at Ian.
"HELP ME" she pleaded.
Ian face was blank for a moment, but then it began to twist into a frightening grin. As she fell into the bonfire hundreds of sparks flew out into the night like fireflies. Seraph looked at Ian in confusion, until it dawned on her. He wasn't going to save her!
The flames engulfed her as she screamed in terror. Her hands desperately scratched up the wall but it was to tall. Her senses began to dull and her consciousness began to fade. But the pain was eternal, as her eyes rolled back she finally tasted the sweet release of death. Then everything darkened.
As Seraph slowly became conscious she saw a ethereal like women. She tried to discern her features but a mist like substance was obscuring her vision.
"I'm truly sorry child, If I had access to your world I would have skinned that bastard alive." The women roared.
"But at least I managed to save your soul. The pain of burning alive had almost collapsed you spirit. Oddly your soul is stronger, it has turned into a black soul!" She gasped "The baptism of fire has increased your soul power. There's secrets in the flames child, the few witches who survived it often became legends."
"Excuse me" Seraph questioned. "Who are you, and where am I? Shouldn't I be dead"
"Ahhh, thats right excuse my manners. I am the dark witch fiona. I have died and my soul is traped here until I descend to hell. I found your soul wondering the ethereal space, threatening to collapse at any passing second. I curiously peered into it and saw you burning to death. Your death reminded me of my fellow witches so I saved you."
"Thank you fiona, what do you mean by hell and witch, is this the afterlife? My name is Seraph."
"I forgot you live on a non magical plane. In the universe there are endless planes and beings of existence. My home is the Kainen plane, a high tier plane that houses many different races and magic. 300 years ago during my initiation I sold my soul to gain power in my world. I am subject to eternal damnation, It's not a bad trade and if you become powerful enough you could even venture into the depths of hell and retrieve your own soul. But before I could to that level was killed by the covens leader. A spiteful bitch she is. I don't have a lot of time any random fluctuation could kill someone like you. I will offer you a chance to survive let me attach my soul to yours to escape hell. They can't retrieve me from a living body I will help you become powerful and in-turn you will help me get a new body.
Seraph gazed in contemplation " I consent"
The witch cackled "Perfect I will send us there immediately."
She suddenly chanted and an eerily feeling creeped into seraphs heart. Seraph felt as if she was being swallowed by an infinite darkness until she blacked out.
Seraph awoke with a splitting headache, light rushed into her eyes as she gazed upon her new world.
