Power. That was the only thing I could feel right now. As a Former noble, I had some knowledge of magic. It was a divine power that was given to us by the gods, or that was what the church's priest had told his family when they visited. However, Adrianus had never believed them. His dad had always evaded the question when asked, so did his mom and siblings. He never knew why and would never find out from his family.
I was so enamoured with the power in my body that I had completely forgotten about the voice that spoke inside my head only to shake out of my trance by the same authoritative voice.
"Descendant of Mine do you swear to wager vengeance against those that have slaughtered our Blood and flesh."
Upon hearing the voice without hesitant, I swore. "I swear by my Family name that I shall slaughter all those responsible for spilling the blood of our kin, be It man or woman."
Swearing to fulfil something by one's Family name is one of the most important and ancient ways in which to take a vow. It was well respected even in the ancient era.
The voice seemed pleased by my response as it said, "Very well Adrianus Von Frazier I will give you the pleasure of asking me any one question that you wish to know the answer to before I depart."
I took my moment to think what I should ask him until I decided. "Ancestor I wish to know of the Bloodline in my body and its abilities."
The ancestor was quick to reply as he said. "Your bloodline only has one ability. That power is one of Words. Any word you say or imagine can instantly be brought to life. To explain it to you in a better way I will give you an example. If you wish for the destruction of a city all you must do is utter the world 'Destruction' while having the intent to destroy the city. However, the setback is that you would need a tremendous amount of energy and that is why it is necessary for you to rise in the ranks of magic. Right now, you can only use a mere fraction of its real power. However, even then you would have an unassailable advantage over those of your generation."
"Ancestor, what do you mean a mere fraction of its true power and what are the ranks of magic?" I asked.
"I gave you the right to ask me one question only, and I have answered it. I will tell you something. The Owl does not seek glory." The voice of the ancestor said.
"The owl does not seek glory. What does that even mean? Ancestor? Are you still there?"
I called out a few more times in my head for him until I was sure that he had left. I had so many questions to ask him. It seemed to be fate denying me a chance at knowing the answer to those questions.
I immediately thought of what had just transpired in the last five minutes and how my life just changed. A smile broadened its way on my face. I was happy not only at the fact that I had just come in possession of strong ability and bloodline. The possibilities were endless. I was also delighted at the idea of every single person who had ever done deliberate wrong to me would soon be introduced to a world of suffering.
I tore myself apart from my thoughts and tried focusing on the current situation. I knew that I did not have the power to fight the Bloody Scorpion Gang. After all, I had no combat experience, no knowledge of magic and i was a target for the Bloody Scorpion Gang.
I had to get powerful fast, and although my ability and bloodline had endless potential, it also needed hard work. Something that I was very adept. So I needed someplace to train with my power and somewhere I could gain knowledge of the world all while at the same time being able to hide from being hunted.
The Black Bullet Gang and The Bloody Scorpion Gang would probably not stop this war in one night. It was bound to occur for a long time. I did not know why but I knew that even the high leadership of both gangs were going to participate in fights. So I had to be extra careful. Immediately an idea hit me. What if I was able to disguise myself using the Bloodline ability. It was worth a shot.
I closed my eyes and started focusing on my blood, trying to get it to do something and when I closed my eyes so tight that they hurt I felt my blood resonate with me.
Pain. That was the way I could trigger my bloodline ability. I immediately opened my eyes and looked around the alley I was at only to find a sharpened wood. I instantly took it and poked myself on the thigh all while holding back a scream.
The pain was horrible and hard to bear with, but it was rewarding as I closed my eyes and with the intent to change my look I said. "Disguise."
