By the time they stepped outside the hotel, the sun had started to set. Its golden lights dyed the sky and clouds red and orange colors over the horizon, creating an ethereal view. Tsubaki smiled widely as she appreciated the view in front of her.
"Darling! It's so beautiful," Tsubaki lifted up her chin, looking at her husband with clear excitement in her eyes.
"Yes," Ren agreed, he smiled so softly at her as he added, "You're beautiful."
Tsubaki stiffened, she didn't expect to be attack with his sweet words right at this moment.
"I mean... look at the sun!" Tsubaki flustered, she placed her palms over his cheeks, trying to make him watched the sunset. "It's rare for us to see such a beautiful sunset."
"Yes, it's rare," Ren was still refusing to look over the sea.
He feasted his eyes by looking at her. The warm color of the sun bathed her with beautiful golden lights, made him wondered if he was looking at a celestial maiden. She looked so exquisite and pure in her white dress, her long hair being blown by the gentle breeze of the sea.
"You!" Tsubaki was tempted to pinch his cheeks but in the end she surrendered, she lowered her head and pressed her head against his chest. "Silly."
Ren laughed happily, attracting several glances from the people nearby who admired the harmony between the husband and wife. He wrapped his arms around her waist, he gently placed a kiss on the space between her delicate eyebrows.
"I love you, my dear wife," he professed as the wind blew past them.
Tsubaki smiled sweetly. Her eyes gleamed under the golden lights. "I love you, my silly husband."
The husband and wife walked alongside the shore. Even though night time had slowly approaching, but the beach was still full with visitors. Most of them were couples like them. They were enjoying their precious time together, whispering words of love between them and indulging themselves with the spectacular view.
Ren and Tsubaki sat at a place without many people nearby, enjoying the peace the beach had to offer. Both of them sat on the white sandy beach, Ren let Tsubaki leaned comfortably on his chest.
"You're right," Her voice sounded so soft as she spoke, "This view is so beautiful."
Ren smiled faintly, he knew she was reminded of his words before.
When he saw her so happy like this, he could only pray for this happiness to last. If possible, he didn't want her to be heartbroken again. Seeing her cry made his heart ached in pain. He wanted her to always smile and laugh without any worries.
But, he knew it was impossible.
"Darling?"
"Yes?"
Tsubaki tilted her head, a soft smile graced her face as she looked at him. Ren felt like he could drown in her clear eyes, without thinking he leaned down and gently claimed her lips.
Tsubaki gasped, she just wanted to call out to him. She didn't expect for him to kiss her in the public. Even though there weren't many people around them, she was still shy.
Yet, in the midst of her happiness, she accepted his kiss.
"Sweetheart, I love you," Ren breathed softly against her lips.
Tsubaki smiled dreamily. "I love you, darling."
This felt so surreal. Did she deserve this?
Her hand unconsciously went to her tummy.
They stayed at the beach even after the sun had completely set. As the breeze turned cooler, the husband and wife returned to the hotel. They went straight to the dining hall. Their dinner was served in buffet. Once they had dinner, they went straight to their suite.
When Ren was taking his shower, Tsubaki stood at the balcony, enjoying the night view. The moon looked so bright from the highest floor and even though they were dimmed by the lights around the beach, she could still the stars accompanying the moon.
The light of the moon reflected on the sea, creating a majestic illusion. Tsubaki smiled softly, never did she expect herself to be able to enjoy such a magnificent view.
So much had changed in these few months.
She got to meet him, her darling husband. Her brother got better and was able to leave the hospital. She was welcomed into a new family with so much warmth. She was treated as if she was a queen by her husband.
She even got to know her real background.
It was heart-wrenching, but despite all the heartbreaks and sad tears she had, a little ray of light came to bless her life.
As Tsubaki was completely immersed in her thoughts, a pair of long arms enveloped her in a warm embrace. Her lips curled up into a smile, she looked up to meet his softened eyes.
"What are you thinking, sweetheart?" Ren whispered gently by her ears.
Tsubaki let out a giggle, she patted her husband's cheek. "Nothing. I'm just enjoying the view."
Ren smiled in understanding. He brought her closer to his chest, trying to warm her chilly body once exposed to the night air from the highest floor.
"Where do you want to go tomorrow?" Ren held both of her hands, a hint of content flickered in his eyes when he saw their wedding rings gleamed brightly under the moonlight. "I don't have to go to the site tomorrow. We could spend the entire day by ourselves."
"Really?" Tsubaki's eyes brightened, an idea suddenly popped inside her mind. "I heard there's a famous bakery here which allows the customers to experience baking. Could we go there?"
Ren laughed, he didn't expect to hear such a suggestion from her. "You really want to do that? You're already a skilled baker, sweetheart."
"It's good to learn more, besides..."
"Besides?" Ren rose one of his brows, feeling intrigued by what she had to say.
"En..." Tsubaki shook her head. Her eyes were smiling as her lips. "Nothing."
"Alright," Ren replied, a yawn tried to escape from his mouth. The corners of his eyes turned watery. "I'm sleepy."
"Let's go to sleep, darling," Tsubaki quickly encouraged him to go to bed. She knew he was still tired. It was better for him to take as much rest as possible during this trip. Ren just nodded before they left the balcony.
As Ren had already entered his dreamland with Tsubaki in his arms, his wife couldn't help but smile in delight. Tsubaki stared at his face, the moonlight cast a layer of soft glow over his sleeping face, making him looked as tender as ever.
Tsubaki gently rubbed her tummy, she couldn't wait to tell him.
In tonight's dream, she was walking side by side with him, there was a child in his arms. They were laughing happily.
The next morning arrived in no time.
Even though Ren said he wasn't needed at the site, he still had to meet Hibiki and Matsuzaki before taking her out. When Ren was busying himself with his two assistants in a separate room in the suite, Tsubaki called for the female concierge from yesterday to come to her room.
"I really, really could trust the kits even without seeing a doctor first?" Tsubaki whispered nervously to the older woman, her eyes would often dart to the closed door of the room where Ren was in with Hibiki and Matsuzaki.
"Although I recommend you to meet a doctor for a further check-up, you could be rest assured, Madam," the concierge smiled as she understood the meaning behind Tsubaki's words. She took out a white plastic bag from her pocket and handed it to Tsubaki. "I've even brought you another one if you wanted to test it again."
"Thank you!" Tsubaki had almost jumped in joy. "You're a life savior!"
The concierge smiled politely before she took her leave.
Tsubaki quickly headed to the bathroom and did the test. Even though she had seen the same red lines from yesterday, she was still so excited to see them at this moment.
She was really pregnant!
Before she once hid the evidence, she took a photo using her phone. Tsubaki smiled sweetly as she stared at the screen. Maybe it'd be more meaningful if she was looking at an ultrasound photo of their baby?
"Sweetheart? Are you in the washroom?"
Ren's voice suddenly came from outside, flustering Tsubaki.
"Aa... a moment, please!"
She quickly threw the kit inside the dustbin, obscured it from view using the crumpled tissues in the bin. After washing her hands, she took one last look at her appearance before she stepped outside.
For today's outing, they wore the matching outfits they bought during their previous date. The one where she chose one summer outfit for him.
"Yes, have you finished meeting them?" Tsubaki felt her voice was abnormally higher than usual, she almost wanted to pinch herself to stop making him feeling suspicious over her.
"Yes. Let's go," Ren laughed once he saw her excited face. He took one of her hands in his, leading her to the doors. "Our car is here."
"Okay~"
Hibiki was waiting for them beside a black SUV. After giving the keys to his Master, he immediately left with Matsuzaki. Both of the special assistants knew they shouldn't interrupt their Big Boss' date with his wife today. With lonely hearts, they returned to work.
"Shall we?" Ren gave her a smile as he started the engine.
Tsubaki smiled happily and gave him a nod. "Yes!"
She hoped her plan would be a success.
